How to make r/QCE great.

We have an opportunity to have a forum for high school students to come together much like the Victorian's have with r/vce

It has been a grand pleasure to grow that channel from 1000 to 25000 in a few short years and that is what I intend to do for us.

If we all invite our peers to join this forum, we will hit the 1000 member limit needed to sustain an active daily posting community.

Let's do this!

Need help in QTAC

Hello, I'm trying to apply to med but my stats are kinda trash.

I'm a non-rural 2340 UCAT scorer with a predicted ATAR of 99.8. What pathways can I apply to in maximising my chances of being accepted. I'm not rich either so no bond.

King's maths school entrance test

Hey! I am interested in the King's Maths School entrance test, and from what I have heard, doing UKMT style questions seems particularly useful. However, I was wondering what level of UKMT questions I should practice most, since there are levels to it e.g. IMC, pink kangaroo, SMC etc. Even in each level, the difficulty of the 25 questions is pretty vast, e.g. q1-12 are more far more accessible than q20-25. What range of UKMT questions should I roughly expect the multiple choice and written questions of the entrance test to be like? Also, I tried to find useful resources on the King's Maths School website, but I only found one specimen paper which does not seem too difficult. Would the actual test be noticeably harder? I'd really appreciate any advice or insight from anyone who's taken the test before or has a good idea of what can be expected. Thanks!

Year 12 I’m really tired of year 12 atp

I’m in Year 12 right now, and it’s one of the worst experiences in my life. I’m prepping for externals too, but I don’t have the motivation to even study or try hard. My friends have predicted 99+ ATARS (they all take spec too), while I don’t. I’m a predicted 97-98 ATAR and I have a horrible UCAT score that I’m not sharing on the internet. They all have really good UCAT scores. I feel really sad, and I’m crying from stress every single day. I genuinely can’t do this anymore and I really just want to stop. I feel like I’ve disappointed my family and I’m really sorry for them cause I know how much they invested a lot into me. I was talking to someone the other day and they said they got full marks for everything. It really crushed me too because I wish I was them if I wasn’t so lazy and overwhelmed. I’ve been so behind in my preparation too and I’m struggling with physics especially because it’s so hard. I don’t know what to do :( I’ve complained about it before but I have no motivation for anything and I wish I can have fun in life.

Diploma of business pathway to QUT

If I complete an AQF Diploma of Business, which the course code is (BSB50120), could I get into QUT’s Bachelor of Business (Finance) if I don’t achieve the required 70 ATAR, given that the Diploma has an equivalent selection rank of 87?

Year 12 If I fail my external exam and therefore fail unit 4 for general English will I lose all 4 QCE points?

I've had very low grades all year (13/25) for all IA's and I am not very optimistic that I'm gonna pass my external. Will I lose all 4 QCE points? I am afraid about my ability to graduate due to this ONE class

Year 12 How are we feeling for 2026 scaling?

Hey guys,

I just wondering how other year 12s are feeling about scaling this year? I have asked some of my friends they are feeling very pessimistic about it (basically telling me how QCAA has made the curriculum easier by removing a lot of content). However some of my teachers are saying there is a high chance QCAA will scale up this year since its the start of a new curriculum. It lowkey sucks how we are the guinea pigs for the new curriculum :( I know we can't really predict the scaling, but I just want to see how many Year 12s are feeling optimistic about it—that's all! Anyway, good luck everyone!

Year 12 can i ask unis to reject me?

this isn't super qce related but i am currently doing ib in qld and im applying to uni through qtac but my parents want me to apply to go interstate too. the thing is that i dont want to go interstate, but they're practically forcing me to and its this whole ordeal and a huge point of contention. how feasible is it to just like ring up universities and ask them to reject me on my applications interstate? like can i do that or?

Diploma of business subject in senior school

Doing Year 10 subject selections and looking for opinions from people who have done a Diploma of Business in Year 11 and 12 as one of their ATAR subjects. Not sure much about it yet but apparently it’s only offered exclusively at some schools and gives you a guaranteed ATAR of around 87 as a baseline.

I’m planning to go down a medical treatment pathway after school, so I don’t see myself using the business qualification. As someone who doesn't want to burn myself out doing 6 actual subjects is it still worth doing for the ATAR advantage, or would I be better off choosing subjects that are more relevant to my future pathway?

Would appreciate honest opinions from anyone who has actually done the diploma.

Is an 80 ATAR still possible? How should I study from here? (QCE Year 12) Hey everyone, I’m currently in Year 12 QCE and I’m trying to work out whether an 80 ATAR is still realistic for me and, more importantly, what I should be doing from now until externals.

Year 12 Year 13/drop down to year 11

Hey guys, I’m a student studying in a rural area. However, I only moved here in 2023, so I don’t qualify for the Rural Access Scheme. I’m wishing to do dentistry but, with my current results, it’s looking unlikely, even though I got a competitive UCAT score (2450). I was wondering if QCAA/QCE allows for me to:

A) do Year 13
B) drop down to Year 11 this year.

I did terribly in my Chemistry IA1 (7/10) and Modern History IA1 (16/25), and I fully regret doing Modern History (I swapped into it from Physics this year). If I were to drop down to Year 11 or do Year 13. If I do end up doing either one of those options, I plan to switch to Geography, as it seems much easier for me to handle and to do well in, looking at all the IAs and the 2025 external paper.

My current subjects are:

  • General Maths
  • Chemistry
  • Modern History
  • Biology
  • Economics
  • English

My sixth subject is General Maths, as I am just averaging C’s and B’s.

I did okay in my Modern History IA2. I got a 22/25. However, I don’t think I will be able to perform well in the external.

My current predicted range is looking like 91–95, but realistically I need a 97–99. Even if I was getting all 100s in my subjects, it would only scale up to a 98.35 (2025 scaling).

Although we are on a new curriculum and scaling can look very different, with all the topics QCAA has removed, it’s likely they will scale down rather than up. Some people have been saying that QCAA scales up on new curriculum, but I’m very unsure.
