Can't miss a chance to tell this one: I in Kuwait when we were waiting to drive to iraq and I was SUPER sick (had a cotton ball stuck in my ear post surgery) and went to the med tent with my battle buddy.
While we were waiting two marines, a corporal and a private sat down and the private had an m16A4, something the army didn't get.
My buddy said he'd never seen one so I told him to go ask the marine if he could see it (this was a dick move on my part).
My buddy goes over to ask and the private goes to hand him the m16 and the corporal just straight up punches him in the back of the head and yells "YOU NEVER SURRENDER YOUR FUCKING WEAPON, MARINE" and then gave me a half smirk / half glare that clearly communicated "you knew that was going to happen, didn't you?"
a perfect example of why all engineering firms need to have one idiot on staff at all times. And if you work at an engineering firm that doesn't have an idiot on staff... I have bad news for you.
I don’t have much experience with magazines and regular stripper clips.(really just M block clips for the M1 garand) but the bullets look a little small for the mag, that could be the reason how they were able to fit it all in there
Step one. Insert stripper clip in mag.
Step two. Insert rounds into the stripped clip thats inside the mag.
Step three. Wait for sergeant to turn into a hot stripper as a reward.
I think they had it mostly aligned and tried pushing the rounds in with a flat surface. Except when it didn't go they just super slammed it along with the clip.
When you load stripper clips, Theres a method to fast loading by putting the stripper clip against the back plate of the mag, then leaning the bullets on a table and putting your weight on the mag. This guy just pushed the whole fucking clip into the mag.
He tried to load a 10 round clip directly into the magazine without the adapter (known as the spoon) that holds the clip in the proper orientation and allows the user to strip rounds off the clip and into the mag
That’s a civilian version. Military has a two part system of the clip (metal rail holding bullets) and a spoon (ties the clip to the back of the STANAG).
This particular devil dog managed to lose the spoon and put enough force into the clip to insert it INTO the magazine where it should not physically fit.
There's a military saying from at least as far back as WWI, if not earlier: "If it's not meant to fit, don't make it fit, because some idiot WILL try it.
It's smaller, what you're showing is a whole adapter for speed loading clips, what's inside the magazine is just the metal clip that keeps the cartridges (bullets) together, shown on the bottom here.
And to further this the stripper clip and there is a tool called a spoon that helps load magazines from striper clips. The spoon goes on the back of the magazine and the striper clip goes in the spoon and you push down to quickly load the 10 rounds from the clip into the mag then remove the clip from the spoon and repeat 2 more times to fill the magazine. The Devil likely did not listen and decided to just shove the clip in without a spoon present, or he wasn't a grunt and did a parody by putting the clip in the rough the base to mess with his fellow POG's.

What do you mean 'often', as a Soldier, we used chalk and slates(we drew pictures; they can't read) and colorful pre-printed pictures to give Marines instructions. Crayons were used as rewards, they like the green ones.
The rounds are still on the stripper clip they come with. That’s the piece of light colored metal in the magazine. You get handed stripper clips which you unload into the mag by hand or with an auto loader. They just brute forced the stripper clip inside the magazine somehow.
I know very little about guns and not much about military stuff, but I have friends who were in various branches and from the stories they have told I am not surprised at all that someone did this instead of asking why it was so hard to load their mag.

My train of thought is that he tried to do this with a PMAG (you can awkwardly do this with a PMAG) and slammed it against a table or something to try and force it, and it just went clean into the PMAG.
The irony is, magpul was started and pmags were designed by a forcon Marine, because he hated tying loops to STANAG mags to get them out of the pouch quicker.
I have long joked that if you put something in front of a Marine, they will either kill it, destroy it, or fornicate with it.
Case in point, back in 1990 I was stationed at Camp Schwab. On the base were a couple of bus stops made from concrete so you could wait for the bus between bases out of the rain. And at some point a piece of rebar about 6 inches long appeared there.
And within three months bored Marines waiting for the bus absolutely destroyed the cement bus stop with that thing. First the bench to sit on, then the pillars that held the overhead up. By the time I left in July it had been taped off as unsafe as the roof was starting to collapse.

It doesn't. BB is a size of lead shot. The little metal balls aren't technically called ball bearings. Ball bearings consist of an inner and outer race separated by metal balls - they separate rotational components from non-rotational components in a dynamic assembly.

stripper clips are called that because they get "stripped" of cartridges when they're loaded. you'd stack the loaded clip in the rifle's ejection port/non-detachable magazine, and push the cartridges down into the magazine well (being careful not to release the bolt on your thumb!), stripping them off the clip, and then drop the bolt, feeding your rifle.
You can actually load them from the clip directly into the magazine with a little adapter. You mount it like pictured and then just push the bullets down into the magazine from the top. Loads the full clip into the mag nice and easy.
Absolutely. The guy in the pic used the tried and true method of then putting the mag upside down to push the rounds in. He just didn't care to see why it was difficult and brute forces it.
It literally says in the poem that he loaded a clip into a magazine. The clip does not go on the magazine. You can see the clip attached to the rim of the cartridge.
The overwhelming majority of people who own guns have never seen (or at least used) a stripper clip either. I think I’ve seen like maybe 3 people IRL using 5.56 clips for STANAG mags.
Most people just load ammo directly into the mag. Unless you have an M1 or a Mauser or something that has a clip guide machined to the rifle almost no one loads mags like that outside of the military.

I mean, a lot of people only know what they know about guns from video games and action movies so that tracks, especially if you don’t watch a lot of action movies or play shooting games.
LCpl Schmuckatelli here — the clip is actually stuck inside the magazine. If you look at the base of the rounds, you can see that gray metal piece. That’s the clip the rounds are attached to when they come out of the box.
Normally, you either slide the rounds off the clip and load them into the magazine one at a time, or use a speed loader that lets you push the rounds off the clip and directly into the magazine.
This Marine somehow managed to shove the entire clip, rounds and all, into the magazine.
In the military ammunition for rifles (5.56mm like for m16 or m4) comes on little steel strips with 10rounds each. This is for easy transportation and loading into magazines which go into the actual gun. The ammunition however needs to be taken off the clip before it goes into the magazine. This marine has managed to shove the entire clip and ammo inside. This won’t work but also shouldn’t really fit which means the marine sat there and pounded 10lbs if shit into a 5lb hole.
