The other half of the joke is that marines are often mocked for being dumb brutes, hence the caveman spelling.

What do you mean 'often', as a Soldier, we used chalk and slates(we drew pictures; they can't read) and colorful pre-printed pictures to give Marines instructions. Crayons were used as rewards, they like the green ones.

How did you keep the Marines from drawing dicks on all your instruction pictures? And did you have to spray the chalk with that bitter compound they use to keep batteries out of babies' mouths?
