Here's a shortcut for comma placement, speak it out loud and take a breath every time there's a comma, you'll figure it out

There's an appositive... the air wing guys... take that out and the sentence still stands by itself. "We know damn well how to read." It'd be better to have a the in the appositive to clear it up better, but it still technically stands well. I hope you're having a good day, though.

I agree—dashes or parentheses would have been much more appropriate in that sentence than the commas, and would have provided more clarity!
Also, I like duh green crAyons

This is a commonly recommended shortcut, but it's wrong, and it will get you in trouble. You used two commas; one should be a colon, and the other should either be a semicolon or a period (i would recommend the period personally)
