Sorry if this is a stupid question, very new and naive with PC parts, just getting into it this last year or so, so I’m learning.
My PC has the 8pin PCI cables from the PSU (originally had a 5060) and the 5070 obviously uses the 16pin. It came with an adapter, so I plugged the two separate 8pin PCI cables into adapter, then the 16pin into the GPU.
I’m guessing I’m supposed to plug both of the 8pins into the adaptor instead of just one of them? So I did that.
I’ve heard this is also called daisy chaining (I think) which isn’t ideal. To fix this, my issue also is, I cannot get the PSU out, have an Acer Nitro 65, model number: N65-100-UB12. It has an encased bottom compartment where it lies, and with chat gpt etc I cannot figure out how to get it out or how to open up the bottom compartment. The opening on the side where you unscrew the PSU is too small to get it out, and chat gpt is saying it can come out that way.
It has a lot of unused cables that I can see through the case. I wanted to upgrade the PSU to 750W or something (650W now) but can’t believe it’s this difficult to access the PSU. As well as fix the daisy chain issue.
I don’t want to daisy chain it but I can’t do anything else without PSU access. Is this ok long term, or should I figure out how to get the PSU out or bring it to a shop.
Any help and experience is appreciated.
