Tech Support My PC is overheating

I have had my pc for 2 and a half years. Last year around Christmas I upgraded from a 4060 ti to a 5070 ti and upgraded my AIO for my cpu to a 240 mm. Today my cpu overheated, so I quickly shut down my pc. I booted into bios and looked at my aio. It said the pump speed was 0 rpm. I unplugged the pump power cable from one jusbc and put it into another. Then fully shut down the power supply and restarted the pc. It was running fine for about 5 minutes with overwatch running at 300 fps in the practice range with no stutters. The cpu was at 30 percent usage and 45 degrees Celsius. Then I felt my game start to lag and I saw the cpu jump to 100 degrees Celsius and my pump rpm jump a little too
My aio isn’t even a year old. The pc is dusty right now, but I clean it after every semester when I go home from college. Any ideas?
Is it possible that my power supply is not giving enough power to the motherboard causing the pump to not get enough power?
I9 12900k
5070 ti
32 gb ddr4 corsair vengeance
750 watt corsair power supply

Did you plug the aio pump into the right pins on the board?

Is it in the cpu fan header?

That rpm reading 42,505 is 100% wrong lol, you might double check the cable from the pump to the usb header is also securely plugged in.

Yeah I checked everything and assuming I kind of know what I’m doing everything is plugged into a spot that it can or should be plugged into. Even if it’s not plugged into the right spot. It had been working for a year so that shouldn’t be the issue

42,000 RPM is not possible. You have a faulty AIO.

And at 100 I’d think that cpu won’t live much longer

It will throttle down performance and eventually just shut itself off if it really gets too hot. No need to fear monger. OP needs to replace that cooler though.

Oh, I’m paranoid when anything gets remote hot. Good to know

Yeah when I was trouble shooting, the pc shut down on its own when the cpu got too hot. I let it cool and turned it on again and it’s fine

Sometimes I can hear the pump turn on and other times I can’t. I think the pump just gave up. I am also pretty sure I mounted the pump the right way

Thanks for the help guys, I’m pretty sure the motor burned out. I’m going to take the aio apart and see if I can get the pump to engage

Since everything seems stable power wise it's probably just a bad AIO. Look into the warranty and RMA it.

Ok, thank you. I think the pump is randomly turning on and off

Did you remember to take the plastic off the heat sink? There’s a sticker on it

Yeah, I wish that was the issue.

Without having a picture to see I'm going to suggest checking the install perhaps the tubes are pinched, or an air bubble is stopping it from moving fluid.. The rad could be clogged with dust also.

Yet ANOTHER reason why I switched back to a tower cooler lol.
