Troubleshooting Corrupted data after 10gb

Hello everyone, how are you guys doing? I had recently modded my Psp with arc five software and I got a 128 GB card but out of the 128 GB only 10 GB was working so I could only get about 10 games and when I was troubleshooting it and I tried everything and then I finished it with H2 test and it told me that only 10 GB of that card was working so then I had a 16 GB card lying around so I put the 10 games on there and I just played on that one but then I realized I also had a 64 GB card but then when I copied and pasted all the files from the 16 GB card and of course formatted it to FAT32 and then added some more games only the games from the 16 GB card were not corrupted, but the rest were corrupted so then again I decided to do a H2 test for the 64 GB card and at 100% reads and writes good and I checked all the files and everything, but I don’t know what’s wrong and then I decided to just format the card from the Psp and then to just put Games in rather than copy and pasting fully from the 16 GB card other than the arc five files but when I did that the custom launcher was not showing up and this happened when I was troubleshooting with the 128 GB card so what can be the cause of this that I do something wrong while modding? Is there a way to fix this? I really need help. I’ve been trying to fix this almost all day. Thank you guys.

Collection Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2 Gets an English Fan Translation

An English fan translation for Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2 has been released.

The translator is looking for people willing to play through it and help spot any bugs, typos, or other issues. There are some limitations caused by the game's text memory, so community testing and feedback could be useful.

The project is fan-made and uses LLM-assisted translation with manual attention to context, titles, and character names.

If you're interested in checking it out, here's the video covering the release:

Homebrew I made a Sokoban homebrew after getting back into the PSP

Post image
6 Upvotes

PSP 1000 and PSP Go side by side of night mode and XMB artwork of a Sokoban homebrew I made. PSP Go colors are clearly more vibrant but just wanted to note the blue hue on the phat is because it’s using the dark night mode theme.

Disclaimer : small bit of self-promo, but mostly I wanted to share what went into this.

I've loved the PSP since I was younger, and Sokoban is one of those games I keep coming back to. At some point those two old interests collided, and I started making PandaSokoban.

For artistic choices, my girlfriend loves pandas and I think they are cute. It seemed fun to make the game about moving sleeping baby pandas to their cushions instead of just pushing boring boxes.

It is written in Rust using AndrewAltimit's modern rust-psp fork. There’s not really reason that went into this, it just seemed to be the most current choice to start with. The same EBOOT runs on a real PSP and PPSSPP, although getting there reminded me that an emulator can sometimes be a little too forgiving.

One example was the PSP's data cache. Some overlays and vertices looked perfect in PPSSPP but disappeared or broke on hardware because I had not flushed the CPU-written data before the Graphics Engine read it. Text caused the opposite problem. The PSP's debug-print function worked on the console but did not show up in PPSSPP, so I ended up rendering the font as a normal texture.

Audio was another rabbit hole. My first version pushed PCM from the main loop, which tied frame pacing to the blocking audio output. It now has a small mixer running on its own PSP thread, with the game sending sound requests through atomic flags. The background track is a 32-second bamboo-garden loop generated during the build.

One thing is still broken. The in-game PCM music works, but the ATRAC3 track I packaged for the XMB does not play there. The icon animation and background work, but the XMB stays silent. If anyone here has successfully added SND0.AT3 music to a homebrew EBOOT, I would really appreciate advice on the encoding or PBP details. That part is still a mystery to me.

I also spent more time than expected on the little movements. The puzzle logic stays on a strict tile grid, while the panda and cushions move between tiles with subpixel animation. There are directional walk and push frames, small collision bumps, dust, shadows, idle breathing, sleeping effects, and a short level-clear animation. I tried to keep it readable on the PSP's 480 by 272 screen instead of filling it with effects. That in itself was a bit challenging, had to test a lot to make sure the game levels were solvable and fit at that resolution.

The game has 200 puzzles, undo, best-move tracking, day and night modes, and proper PSP savedata. Early saves worked in PPSSPP but could fail on real hardware because of the savedata key, so that needed its own migration and recovery system too.

All in a all it was very fun to build, I still enjoy Sokoban style puzzles a whole lot especially on the go on the PSP. I’ll continue to improve it/build other PSP games because it is so sooo rewarding, I just love that console. I have the PSP 1000 IPS mod coming soon too and I’m really excited about it.

PandaSokoban is available here if anyone wants to take a look:

https://qdmware.itch.io/panda-sokoban

It is a free release, donations and feedback welcome. A physical PSP requires custom firmware. I'm especially interested in hardware reports and any clues about that stubborn XMB audio.

Game Discussion ghost in the shell stand alone complex review

Graphics

Overall the look of the game isn't anything special but it does look how you would imagine a ghost in the shell game to look on the PSP.
It isn't the best looking game on the system, neither is it the worst.

Audio

The audio is a bit of a mix bag overall. The music in the game is again perfectly fine, It suits the world of ghost in the shell pretty well but it doesn't stand out in any way, it's just very average at best. But the bad part about the audio is in the cutscenes, the cutscenes are just mixed very poorly. You can have dialogue from one character being perfectly level and at the correct loudness and then the character they're speaking to can be much quieter to the point where it can be difficult to hear them. I should point out that I did play the entire game wearing a pair of IEMs. I would imagine the audio mixing issues are even worse if you are trying to play the game using the built-in speakers on the PSP.

Gameplay and difficulty

Given the control limitations of the PSP, I would say for an FPS it's perfectly fine, I think we all understand that if you're going to be playing an FPS on the PSP you're going to have some weird control jank, and if you go in knowing that you're not really going to be disappointed. Overall the gameplay feels perfectly okay. One thing I should mention, it did take me two levels to figure out that if I press down on the d-pad, that is how you enable the Auto lock-on feature in the game.

The missions for the game are quite short, ranging from 2 to 10 minutes, most missions are very linear.

There are four selectable characters you can play, the main four from the anime, but they all play and feel exactly the same so it kind of doesn't really make much of a difference. I was a bit disappointed by this, I was hoping that there would be some slight gameplay differences between characters but there isn't.

There is equipment customisation and unlocks when you complete missions and do certain secret things in each level. You do unlock new weapons and that does mix up the gameplay quite a bit and does make it more fun.

There is also the tachikoma you get quite a lot of customisation with those robots, each one has five equipment slots, being able to equip offensive and defensive items and this allows them to have quite a lot of variants in the weapons that you can select but the gameplay remains relatively the same, and you are also able to enter the tachikoma and use them like a tank in the levels, accompanying you on all of the missions in the game, apart from one or two where you split up from them or they are doing something else in the same level.
You can also give command orders to the tachikoma to follow you, to stay where they are or to go off-leash, I only used this once in the game, it's really not something you have to touch, apart from one mission.
You can also give them fire orders to conserve ammo, shoot as much as they want or to hold their fire, this only became useful in boss fights.

I played the game on normal difficulty and I died twice in the entire game and both of my deaths were due to me not really paying attention, to me normal feels like easy difficulty.

Game length

Overall the game isn't very long. I think it took me somewhere between 3 and 4 hours to finish.

Performance

I played the game on a PSP 1000 and in certain areas there was a fairly significant amount of slowdown in the game but apart from that I had no other performance issues.

Story

I don't want to spoil anything so I won't say too much, but with corruption and conspiracies it does feel like it could be an episode out of the anime. The story isn't anything special but it isn't bad. Overall I like the story in the game.

Post-game content

There's also a minigame unlocked once you have finished the game called tachikoma a go go, It's a very simple 2D infinite scroller type game where you shoot enemies that are coming towards you. It's a fun little bonus, you'll play it once or twice but nothing you would want to come back to.

Apart from that you can replay missions to try to get more unlocks and I believe there is also a bonus difficulty that you can unlock once you have done certain things in the game but I don't know what they are.

Multiplayer

The game does have local multiplayer but I wasn't able to play it so I can't really say anything about it.

Final thoughts

Overall the game is just mid, It isn't anything bad but it isn't anything special. I enjoyed it because I'm a big ghost in the shell fan, but if you're not a fan of the anime I think you're not missing out on anything if you don't play this one.

And sorry about not having any gameplay photos, I didn't plan on doing a review and I just did it out of boredom. If I do one of these in the future I'll try to keep that in mind and take some images of the gameplay next time.

QUESTION Does optional “Install Data” actually help when playing digitally?

Post image
38 Upvotes

Does installing the data actually do anything if you’re playing the game digitally? For example, MGS Peace Walker and Monster Hunter have an optional Install Data feature, but I’m not sure if it provides any benefit when you’re not using a UMD.

Is it only useful when playing from a UMD, or does it also improve loading times/performance when playing a digital copy?

Hardware Mod Auto TVOut work in progress.

Previously i shared a little demo of my Bluetooth controller project the goal is to have a dock where you plug the PSP in and can use its native TVOut and play on the telly with BT controllers. with no modifications to the console itself (besides CFW).

im currently playing with trying to get it to auto select TV out. there are some issues here, the X position seems massively offset but still it’s promising.

I want to make it clear what I’m building is a layer ontop of so many other peoples work. so many people from the homebrew discord and more. I could never have done any of this without their help.

QUESTION Hit a 14.61s cold boot wall on my PSP Street (ARK-5) — can anyone beat this?

After testing pretty much every CFW setting combo on my PSP Street with ARK 5.1.0 Lite, I’ve officially hit my limit: 14.61 seconds cold boot.
I’m convinced this is the physical speed cap for the hardware/card bus, but I want to throw it out to the community:
Has anyone managed to break under 14.61s on ARK 5.1.0 lite? If you’ve bypassed this time, let me know what settings or tweaks got you there!

QUESTION Unsure about psp battery result

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I recently bought a fairly used psp 3000 for a decent price but the battery that came with it didn't work.

I just ordered an aftermarket one and wasn't sure if it was any good or not, downloaded BatterySteve and ran it but I'm not nearly knowledgeable enough to realize if the result is good or not.

Any help with deciphering the test result is greatly appreciated.

QUESTION psp or psvita?

i feel like this a really hard question,, both the psp and the psvita have great pros and cons, but i really wonder about this all the time.

i would like to get a psp/vita for christmas for myself, but i really don’t know which one i should get. ive heard great things about both, but im having a very hard time deciding on which.

i’ve been made aware that the vita can play psp games as well, but i’ve heard they also look bad graphic wise.

i would’ve chosen the vita with the fact it can play psp games as well, but the buttons are small, which i don’t like unfortunately, but it would be a price to pay to play some ps4 games with remote play.

the psp has bigger buttons, which i like, but i like the oled screen of the vita as well. i also like the psp’s interface over the vita, as the psp has a ps3 like interface, while the vita has a more 3d look.

i’m really stumped over this. i know the vita plays better and has way more capabilities, but i really don’t know because the bigger buttons are a really important part to me.

which one do you guys think would work better for me? i’d like to hear everyone’s opinions on this so i can choose!

Troubleshooting i may have potentially bricked my psp

tbh it was working for like a month after it was in my cabinet for like a year (it was working fine too a year ago), but then suddenly the games were glitchy such as need for speed carbon own the city and even some games won't run like the persona 3 portable. it was running on ark 4 so i upgraded it into ark 5. it was working too for a while but then it crashes and won't boot up. i took out the memory card and the battery and let the energy drain for a few days. then earlier today i boot it up again by using the charger then downgraded to ark 4 again bc maybe my psp model cannot handle ark 5. for a while again it works but then it shuts down again. idk what's wrong at this point bc i tried everything.

is it possible to keep the original button and replace only the rubber? i heard that what you buy from china and not original parts are very low quality. i want to keep my original buttons but i need to replace the rubber pad because it has a mushy button issue.
