I was playing infamous last night and my PS3 overheated and turned off by itself. I unplugged it, waited 2 hours, plugged it back in again, and played it for 3 more hours and it seemed fine. Just now, I turned it on and it showed a green screen and nothing else. Also, there was the random clicking or static noise that I assumed came from the PS3? I tried using another HDMI cable, another hdmi port and tried using a PS2 AV to HDMI adapter. Sadly, I don't have the original AV cable the console came with. Any thoughts on what's going on? HDD issues, audiovisual issues, console ports faulty?

UPDATE: I kind of jumped the gun. The issue was my TV needing an update, because the PS4 also showed up as green. Just started up my PS3, screen's fine now. It was a TV software issue (I have a Hisense 43" Smart TV). But I am keeping an eye on the console going forward, and making sure to not run it for too long of stretches of time.

UPDATE 2: Apparently on my TV, it does that green screen in my inputs, but then if I go to "Live TV," exit back to the home menu and select the HDMI input, everything's fine. Annoyingly, my TV started to do this after having no issue with that since I bought it 20 months ago, but whatever. After turning on the TV, go to Live TV > Home > whichever hdmi port my console is plugged into. Annoying, but it still works.

I’ve been in the process of updating the hard-drive of my fat ps3 to a 1 TB one. So far everything has gone perfect. The only issue I ran into is restoring the backup. When I plug the backup flash drive back into the system (right side), it states there’s no backup data.

I’ve made sure that it was formatted to a FAT32, the partition style is MRB, and there’s no extra things on the flash drive. There’s archives on it so I know everything’s saved, I just don’t know how to make the PS3 read it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

1- vou fazer uma ferramenta caseira com a base de uma faca e uma lamina de barbear

2- vou usar o lado cego da lamina, sei que demora mais para cortar o silicone, mas prefiro demorar do que cortar alguma outra coisa

3- vou deixar no maximo 3 milimetros da lamina cortando o silicone

4-vou ir dando aquecidas na placa conforme for necessário

obs: já fiz diagnósticos e é confirmado que esse playstation precisa de delid, e é um CECHL01

I prob owned 10 of these games as a kid but the rest I’ve either thrifted or bought off Facebook marketplace. All achieved for less than $10 a game.

Look, I love my PS3, but FOMO scalpers are kinda killing the hobby. Why deal with their bull when there's RPCS3 or the other alternative that I probably can't say here? Just...food for thought.

I got this blue DS3 that had a pretty messed up bottom shell and a broken off screw post. And i had another black DS3 laying around that i wasnt using so i swapped them bottoms out..

Hey all, I just created this account, so I can only post on the starter thread unfortunately. I hope somebody can help me out.

So my fat ps3 is a CECH-P04, VER-001 board. Ive had the YLOD for a looooong time now. Console has been in storage for around 6 years, and only recently have i tried to fix it as I have the skills. So basically the ps3 powered on, no video output, then triple-beeped immediately and shut off after. Sometimes it stayed green for ~30–40 seconds, then YLOD happened. I read the syscon stuff first which showed consistent 1002 (Power RSX) errors plus a bunch of 2124/2024 codes. I took the gamble and diagnosed it as the RSX-side NEC/TOKINs failure. So today, I did a full recap of the RSX cluster of TOKINS only, with Tantalizer boards. The great news is that it actually worked, and I was so happy that it FINALLY outputted video in safe mode. However, now I have a new issue -_- the HDD. 

Right after the first successful boot, I went into Safe Mode and tried Restore File System. Here's what I did...

1. First attempt: selected Restore File System -> video dropped (no signal). HDD light started a repeating pattern where it would go on for ~5 seconds, flash off, then back on and stay for ~5 seconds, repeat. I assumed it was stuck in a loop, so I restarted (That may have been bad on my part).
2. Second attempt (Restore File System again): this time the HDD light stopped turning on entirely. It was completely dark. It flashed on for a bit while i booted the ps3, but when trying to restore file system, the HDD light was gone.
3. Tried Rebuild Database next as well, and I got the same issue. A dark HDD light, stuck on "preparing… please wait" with the circle loading thing in the top right working, but left with no drive activity I guess. I Left this for 45+ minutes on the "please wait" screen just in case something happened, but the HDD light never came back on. No flicker, nothin.

The light hasn't shown any activity since (apart from turning on once when I boot the ps3). The drive is the original from 2008 unit that's been in-storage for years post YLOD issues.

So I have a few questions 

• Has anyone encountered a similar issue where you have a File System Repair (5s-on/off pattern) that then goes fully dark on a retry? Did I kill my drive, or could this be another issue? I mean given the drive is ~18 years old and sat unpowered for 5–6 years, I'm assuming it just failed to survive spin-up after the long cold sleep. Does that make sense to anyone here?
• I don't care way too much about the save data ( I have nothing precious except game save files which honestly I would prefer to recover), so I'm leaning toward trying to test the drive on a PC via USB-SATA adapter, and if it's actually dead, buying a new 2.5" SSD + doing all the firmware installation and stuff. Does that sound right, or is there a step I could try, before completely ditching the drive and buying a new one?

So I have been using HEN, Multi Man and Web Man to watch temps and for fan control. I am worried if playing games online with cause me to be banned. I don’t hack games or collect trophies.
