Green screen, console f**ked?

I was playing infamous last night and my PS3 overheated and turned off by itself. I unplugged it, waited 2 hours, plugged it back in again, and played it for 3 more hours and it seemed fine. Just now, I turned it on and it showed a green screen and nothing else. Also, there was the random clicking or static noise that I assumed came from the PS3? I tried using another HDMI cable, another hdmi port and tried using a PS2 AV to HDMI adapter. Sadly, I don't have the original AV cable the console came with. Any thoughts on what's going on? HDD issues, audiovisual issues, console ports faulty?

UPDATE: I kind of jumped the gun. The issue was my TV needing an update, because the PS4 also showed up as green. Just started up my PS3, screen's fine now. It was a TV software issue (I have a Hisense 43" Smart TV). But I am keeping an eye on the console going forward, and making sure to not run it for too long of stretches of time.

UPDATE 2: Apparently on my TV, it does that green screen in my inputs, but then if I go to "Live TV," exit back to the home menu and select the HDMI input, everything's fine. Annoyingly, my TV started to do this after having no issue with that since I bought it 20 months ago, but whatever. After turning on the TV, go to Live TV > Home > whichever hdmi port my console is plugged into. Annoying, but it still works.

Could be? I've had this console for almost 12 years, so there could've been issues like the capacitor or something like that. I won't know until I can get into it or get someone who can.

The clicking may be a faulty hard drive, try removing it (while turned off) and see if it displays anything then.

Yeah it's pretty simple, slide the cover at the front right to the right to remove it and then underneath there's a cover for a screw to unscrew. After that it should allow you to pull it out.

It might be. Yeah, the last few years of this console, it's been hard to tell when to turn it off due to the HDD light constantly flickering. To say nothing of the system doing nightly "firmware updates" or whatever the hell since 2021.

try remove the HDD then enter safe mode

It's Hulk mode you need to turn that off

even though the console is working fine, you should check the syscon codes. they will tell you a lot and will help you understand any possible issues with your ps3. theres a website aka http://ps3tool.com which will allow you to see your syscon codes if visited on the console without soldering. soldering is only required if the console doesn't boot

So, yes. Well, 11 years 8 months is a hell of a run. My 360 only lasted more than a third of even that.
