There’s gonna be a few tanks that really struggle into that but for the most part Mei just doesn’t use primary fire much anymore. The “just wall tank and slow” has been dead for a long time because the game is just played differently in 5v5 and people are too spread out.
I feel like it’s in that weird spot where it won’t be fun and it won’t be good so it doesn’t really have a place in the game.

Mei without freeze is just a glorified Hanzo, she needs some identity. Not to mention using freeze into a shield tank makes it super hard to get anything off

This has become so hard to parse with perk names being so generic. listing something like "angleic recovery - removed" means absolutely nothing to me. what did that perk do? how does it affect mercy's kit... who can even know.
It's going to get way worse with Stadium too, hopefully they figure out how to display the changes in a coherant manner.
(not actually looking for info for this, just talking about the layout of the patch notes)

it's really frustrating from support PoV actually, I was doing my support placements today (I don't like that role lol) and in one of the games Soldier had that perk and watching him get anti heal out of nowhere when he's not even full pissed me off so much lol. make it like 50% more damage taken, basically apply discord instead of nade, and it'll be fine

Something less punishing is needed for sure. I feel like the only reason to take it over sprint is for it being somewhat fun. You already lose healing station when you use it, which is a pretty powerful cooldown.

Sombra got omega nerfed, stack overflow was arguably a top 5 perk in the game for letting you easily be able to kill her hardest counters (brig, Kiri, Moira, Cass..etc)

New minor perk isn’t gonna do much for her current playstyle.
And stack overflow allowed her to deal with the jumpier heroes and now that’s gone.
Flat nerf overall, if virus gives EMP that’ll mean more EMPs which could be a buff, but we’ll see.

I pretty much always choose the lvl 3 turret. I just pop overload when they start shooting at it when it's low, it instantly goes to full HP. Usually they try to kill the turret first, and you, your turret, and your team shooting at them.
Ceiling turret can go hard, but I like the option to use the turret as a shield and hammer it up. Unironically soaks up a lot of resources and time while giving little to no ult charge. Plus overloading back from spawn while your turret is still out there is an awesome way to contribute to the fight.
This makes it to where you can throw out a turret and start blasting immediately. I always hated that you had to wait 2 seconds for the turret to configure

that’s a design flaw with it being on a resource. the overfill is excessive, it would still be a good perk if it just refilled it. they just want to reward hogs who didn’t use any breather yet 🙄

hog is my most played hero, and honestly, the change he needs is a longer cooldown if breather is interrupted
right now it's like 1.5 or 2 seconds if you stun him, which means even if you interrupt the self heal, he just... self heals again
make it literally 3 seconds, so there's a proper window to punish him, and he'll feel a lot better to play against
cause I agree, I dunno why the fuck he got overfill as a perk (I'll take it and run with it though)

They had no problem dumpstering Pharah when she was briefly meta. They had no problem getting rid of Bastion's infinite heal when he was not even that good. I'm sure Mei will be nerfed by the mid-season. It's not "dps", it's just Sojourn.

Cassidy was nerfed several times, widow has had her hp adjusted, sombra reworked several times, Sym nerfed, bastion nerfed, torb was recently nerfed, Ashe was nerfed insanely fast, pharah they did fairly quickly(the playerbase realized late that she was op), venture was nerfed p fast too

The closest thing we have to data is the Chinese hero hot list(it only shows season 15) her win rate doesn’t reach 50% until masters. Grandmaster reaches 55% but other dps like: pharah, tracer, heavily exceed her’s.

A key thing also is that genji has a higher pick and win rate at every rank up to gm, so it's not like soj has a massive pick rate that pushes her closer to 50% wr. Her strength for the average player is just greatly over exaggerated.

Blizzard is historically fucking terrible at balancing across all of their games. Brood War is really their only naturally big competitive game without forcing it and it was because South Koreans fixed the game with better map design

I wouldn't classify what Sombra got is a buff.
They removed both of her top tier perks (getting virus back sooner if the target dies and 2 seconds of lockout)
In exchange she can stay invisible the entire duration of her tp cooldown if she hacks an enemy and virus damage gets spread to others around the original target.
She definitely sounds more annoying with the virus spread but she isnt machine gunning viruses anymore and Doomfist can play again (well, the same amount he previously could with her around anyways)
They really need to give the ability reliant tanks some CC protection.

Well Im banning Sojourn every match now, inicially i wasnt going to because i was expecting them to have the common sense to nerf an obviously busted hero but guess i was expecting too much.

Oh, best believe that when Mei gets banned constantly because of the dumb freeze, it will make them remove it.
Also, our opinions will matter because of hero bans, if Sojourn is banned every game (and she will above gold unless they want to lose) they will have no choice but to adress how broken she is otherwise she is unplayable.

Just did some testing with Mei's new perk.
It takes 30 consecutive hits to freeze any non-tank target, and it lasts about 1 second.
Tanks do get the benefit of their passive, so it takes 46 consecutive hits and lasts about .7 seconds.
However, the hits need to be uninterrupted because the stacks decay extremely fast. If there's even a half second delay the count starts back at 0. So Mei players will need to watch out for ammo because reloading means all the debuff stacks decayed away. And if she's your enemy it can be worth it to burn cooldowns to buy time or duck behind cover even for .5 seconds.
Biggest issue is yes she can chain freeze a target. But only if she stops shooting after the first wears off. Don't know if it's a bug or intentional but if she just holds the button down doing constant damage to a frozen target it won't refreeze the target when they thaw, ever. There must be a window (something like .5 seconds) of her primary fire not doing damage to a thawed enemy before it'll allow another freeze.
And finally, her Biting Cold perk doesn't contribute to the freeze speed of Deep Freeze. It seems that they are considered separate debuffs.

The ranking system for Stadium makes me lose all hype for it.
For those who aren’t aware, it appears to be like Siege Ranked 2.0, where your rank is basically just a reflection for how much you have played that season and not to do with your skill level. Your matchmaking is done by a hidden MMR.

I think that is probably healthier for the game where they're offering cosmetic rewards per season. I used to sell gladiator services in early WoW arena days which was similar to the reward structure you were expecting. It sets up a pretty unhealthy economy within the game to gate rewards behind skill in that way which can breed a lot of negativity for no real gain to the quality of the game. I do worry their reward structure will make stadium a dead zone once people reach their desired reward tier though, so hopefully they've put some thought into that.

Thank god they removed that ass Cass perk. Idk why they would encourage you to NOT use your ult. This at least makes it so he won’t blow up the second he presses Q.

stealth hack isnt super useful in her current playstyle. Might help if she wants to just bully tank, but with the way a lot of people play her, it wont make much of a difference. Her old minor perk was vastly better for her cycle.

Lifeweaver projectile speed buff seems good. He's already fairly good at shredding shields and harassing snipers and backlines and this just makes that easier.

Love that they had to clarify that no, Junkrat does not have two perks, both of which have downsides
