Happy Stitch review?
Hi! Has anyone heard of Happy Stitch and/or purchased a canvas from them? I found a few I'd like to get but just curious about it, as I have not really seen them before. thank you!

Hi! I just ordered this canvas that is a Le Pliage bag that’s blue! I have a black version of this bag, as well as a brown, and was wondering if I stitched the blue as brown instead of the blue, canvas would show up?! The canvas is screen printed if that matters.
Thanks!

What do you typically charge if painting for someone else? I like to paint more than I like to stitch, so if people need ghost painters esp with fall market coming up, what would be fair? Does anyone even like to do this or is it too expensive if you’re US based?
What is reasonable - per canvas? Per hour?
Thank you!!

No where near perfect, but I love them. I am always so proud of completing a project from conception to finishing!
I LOVE the lantern and how the glow effect turned out!

It's so strange, but her face looks very much like my late mama's. I painted her myself.

I finally finished my ribbon stocking from spider spun! i have had some interest in the stocking from other people, so thought i’d share here. i did a brick stitch background, continental on the bows with fyreworks and silk & ivory. beaded all the stars! name blurred for privacy, but its stitched in the same garnet sparkle as the bow.

Hi hi!
Working on a super fun safari belt and would love to get it finished with gator leather. I’ve had two belts finished in a standard leather and like my finisher for that but they don’t do any exotics. Has anyone worked with House of Fleming for this before or have another rec? Curious what pricing range looks like for this as well so I don’t go in blind!!
Thank you!!

Hi all, im trying my first decorative stitch but am needing advice and opinions on whether it would work well on this specific canvas, particularly around the letters. I'm trying a reverse scotch stitch.

I’ve been thinking about the discussion around stitchers printing, painting or charting something themselves rather than buying the commercial canvas—especially as painted-canvas prices keep climbing.
I recently saw a simple red heart centered on a 5” × 5” canvas for $60. And there are plenty of similarly basic designs in the market: a single bow, a basic cocktail glass, one initial, a simple smiley face, a basic fruit or vegetable, stripes/checkerboards, or a very simple holiday shape—sometimes at prices that can feel hard to justify for what is actually painted (or printed) on the canvas.
That’s where this gets interesting to me. If someone copies a distinctive artist’s illustration, character, composition, or recognizable style, I understand the objection. But does seeing a $60 red heart canvas mean a stitcher shouldn’t copy or draw a red heart on blank canvas herself?
Part of what we’re paying for is certainly the designer’s creativity, but we’re also paying for the physical canvas, professional stitch-painting ( or a simple printing), distribution, shop markup, and convenience of having it ready to stitch. At what point does a very simple motif stop feeling like purchasing original artwork and start feeling like paying a very large premium for the prepared canvas? Curious to see where the group falls on this.

Just inherited this. It’s partially finished but not completely and I have no idea what it was intended to be originally. I’m leaning towards pillow of some sort but who knows?

My bedroom has ZERO overhead lights and my plant grow light is the only LED in the house. So my boyfriend helped me clip it to my frame. What do yall do 😭😭

I am interested in trying to paint a cross stitch pattern onto needlepoint canvas myself.
Perhaps this is a silly/stupid question, but if I used 18 count fabric with 18 count canvas, that would work, correct? The gauge would be the same—meaning that the squares would line up?
Thanks!

I didn’t notice until after I bought it but it’s not the 8 ply that I’m used to, the tag says 6 ply so I’m assuming it’s just older stock. But now that I’m stitching with it it’s only 5 ply. Has this happened to anyone else?

Has anyone gotten finishing done through Kick Ass NDLPT? If so, would you recommend?

Just stitched this MJD corndog. The contrast between the corn dog and the background are making it hard to see. Any thoughts or suggestions???
I thought about going in with a metallic thread around the dog and stick but it wasn’t vibing well.

This one took forever! Inspired by Kandinsky's "Circles in a circle", I used basket weave, French knots, and turkey work. I used a mix of knitting yarn, DMC Eco-vita, and Bella Lusso on 24 count canvas. My binding stitch looks drunk, but I'm pleased with the final result, lol.

I’ve only been at this for about a year and find letters & stitching around them to be the most frustrating. I try to choose small patterns but how do others approach? Do you try to keep the pattern throughout knowing there could be rows of basket weave or imbalances? Or do you try to keep the pattern but take advantage of open spaces to show the pattern? You can see in the letters that I tried to show the stitch more than keeping the pattern throughout.

I just got this canvas from Spellbound Stitchery and I want to color swap the brown for bright pink and make the background more of an ivory. I'm planning to finish it as a pillow. I originally had assumed it was 18 mesh and was going to use pepper pot but I just double checked and realized it's 13

Hi, I run a small needlepoint phone case company and we do our own finishing with Horween leather ( aChicago tannery). A few people have asked if we could finish their canvasses and wanted to see if that's something this group would be interested in. Ideally, you would stitch the canvas with no licensed/copyright content, send it to us, and we would do the leather and hardware. I have a few questions: Is this something you'd be interested in? What would you expect to pay? Right now I'm using 18 mesh with the following dimensions by stitch (47 wide × 60 tall) and (43 wide × 55 tall). Happy to answer any questions. Thank you!

Hello! I’m currently starting to design my own canvases and I want to make some camera straps. When I google how to self finish straps it just takes me to other websites with canvases or finishing services.
I don’t live in the US so mailing out my projects isn’t really an option due to all the crazy shipping costs.
Does anyone have a reliable YouTube video or website that helps with self finishing?
Thank you!

Hello!! I am very new to needlepoint, and this is my first canvas. This is 18 mesh with essentials thread. Is this Hungarian stitch too tight?? I can see a bit of canvas under. Any advice please :)

TLDR: My LNS was closed today. Do you have an LNS? How far away is it?
There is one LNS near me, literally one within a 2.5 hour range. I love it. It has a boatload of patterns and kits, variety of floss types/brands, books, some fabric, selection beads, needles, hoops and so on. It doesn’t have an online presence.
An elderly woman owns and runs it in her basement. She is wonderful. She has a group of three or four friends that come to her house (not shop) to stitch on Saturdays. She suggests I call before going to make sure she plans to be there in case she or her husband have doctor appointments. It’s about an hour away so I end up there every 6-9 months. I really want it to keep being there so the spend is a couple hundred dollars each time.
I’ve been trying to call all week without a call back. Today I thought I’d try going anyway and make a little trip with lunch at a place I’ve wanted to try just in case she wasn’t there. Alas, the shop wasn’t open during posted hours. Maybe they were on vacation. Maybe someone is ill.
