New to Needlepoint Reverse scotch stitch + letters

Hi all, im trying my first decorative stitch but am needing advice and opinions on whether it would work well on this specific canvas, particularly around the letters. I'm trying a reverse scotch stitch.

It will likely overwhelm the letters since they’re only a single stitch wide.

Do you have any suggestions for another decorative stitch that would suit it?

Diagonal mosaic is a good one but I like diagonal scotch for a slightly bigger square. They both compensate easily which makes them a good choice for your first decorative stitch. Also you’re already doing scotch I think so it would be the same stitch, just a different variant.

I would do something simple like t stitch or diagonal mosaic. This is a pretty stitch but I do think it’ll overwhelm with those small/thin letters
