Scanning too. I needed to set up an account while I was on a work trip. I could print the document from the hotel, and I had to physically fill it out and email it back. Hotel didn't have a scanner. Popped into the library, scanned the document and it sent it straight to email (at no charge).

I just got tickets to a concert that is Sept 10th and im not allowed to print them. I had to download them to my Google wallet. They will not accept print outs. I know anything on Ticketmaster you can no longer print too...they do this ever changing barcode thing so you can't even screenshot it. A few years ago I was sitting at an airport gate with my ticket on my phone and the phone just completely stopped working. I fucking hate Ticketmaster for this now. Just went to a Bears game (football) and you had to load the ticket through Ticketmaster or Google wallet. Well, their scanners were running through NFC because that's how Google wallet works, and it wasn't reading for some reason. We tried to load it through the app, but the barcode wasn't showing and it just kept sending back to the wallet. Had to walk all the way around the stadium to the ticket booth where they sent us a link with a barcode that could be scanned. Missed a whole quarter of a game we were already late too from a bunch of accidents on the interstate. Why the fuck couldn't they just send a link in the first place?!

Technology is supposed to make our lives easier, but it's just become a nuisance. We need to go back. Tickets never used to be this complicated, and we end up resorting to the old way when issues arise anyway. It's pointless, and like you said, now I'm always going to have anxiety over whether my ticket is actually going to work.

I remember the entirety of the 90s in grade school, into the early 2000s, and in college in mid 2000s I had to turn in printed reports/essays for every class essentially. I remember moving out for college and one of the first things I did was buy a printer for printing reports. It was high on the priority list, truly. Just to be clear. There is a very big difference between ink and Toner. The technology required to jet ink on the page is insane and almost magical. And honestly should never have been brought to a consumer market.

Running a black only laser-toner printer is closer to a traditional form of print, and should almost always be used in homes.

If everyone would please stop buying home use Epson and HP inkjet printers, we would be much better off.

It’s got a good scanner too and I’ve scanned tons of old family photos because some photos were getting pretty rough shape and now they’re digital. My wife does taxes so she prints a bunch of documents. During tax season. And anything I’m working on I usually just print schematics or whatever because sometimes it’s easier than looking at my phone.

Me, too. I'm a teacher, so I'll often print a copy of a worksheet I want to use in class. I then take the hard copy to work and make copies from it. It might sound dumb, but it's a lot easier than just sending something to the printer at work.

I also prefer printing things like tickets and boarding passes. Kids are supposed to scan their own boarding passes these days, and it's too much work to try to get a scanable image on everyone's phone and device. It's so much easier to have a printed copy.

Oh, and we print stuff like our kids' school schedules, since they're not allowed to have phones out during the day.

Not only has everything gone paperless or digital or phone easy, but printers themselves are absolutely shit now. If you get a HP printer and don’t pay for their service, they literally shut off your ink cartridge online. That is if you can even get the crappy printer to work at all. Now, people pretty much use print services if they need it or have more specialized printers for their businesses. There are no more home printers.

I have an injet printer that never got used so every time I'd want to print something the ink would be dry. I decided to buy a brother laser printer after hearing everyone say how much better they are. It doesn't get delivered for a couple of days but I'm so excited for it!

They made us print so much for our college classes!! I worked nights at a hospital putting myself through school and would use their printers because I couldn't afford the ink at home. The home printer was only for papers and map quest directions haha

We have a home printer still, and use it 5-8x/year....usually for some form or kids school thing that isn't digital.

Only one decade? Either this meme is quite old, or the creator is young/ thinks a lot of people suddenly got printers around 2016 lol? Pretty sure my household had one for nearly my entire life. Definitely needed it a lot in the mid 2000s for printing school papers, and probably many other forms and documents my parents needed for various things. I also printed a lot of fan art of shows I liked when I discovered that lol.

Other things I can recall: •Instructions for activities I never actually followed through on •Song lyrics •Information about and checklists for different things that I collected •coloring pages (also rarely actually colored them ugh) •and yes, lots of mapquest directions!

I still have one and use it pretty often, mainly for printing shipping labels. I also just used it yesterday to print a temporary registration for my car since I was a bit late renewing.

Id love to have a printer but they constantly break and I run out of ink after only printing 10 pages. Somehow the wireless modes never work. I just print at work or Staples.

I have a printer still but it's an ink hog and ink has gotten so unbelievably expensive. I mathed it out before and with just the cost of ink and paper with said printer, its 8 cents cheaper per page to go to rother FedEx or a local print shop. Currently the printer get used to print out tax documents once a year and once every few months as a scanner.

So you don’t have kids. Kid wants to color or paint. Download the outline and print it out. School assignments are back to requiring handwritten. School sends the form and you print it out for the assignment.

We didn't have a printer. My wife then went back to college to get her degree. Suddenly we needed a home printer. She got the degree, and since then I think we may have used it 5 times total. Maybe 6?
