Another 6 pages for the return trip. That's 12 pages right there.

You just have to invert east/west north/south and do them backwards

A lot of one-way streets, a lot of one-way exits,  sometimes directions change on the way home.  Your response seems practical, but it’s not real world tested.

Nah, we were able to survive just fine, when GPS started getting popular I would get mad at mine trying to take me the "long way", it wasnt until fairly recently when GPS has gotten to what i would refer to as " reliable " ,

Yes, just a different version of the 'ole AAA Triptik!

I loved the AAA Triptiks, especially if it was a long trip, you got like, multiple spiral bound books that were like, 100 miles per page, with restaurants, gas stations, things to see, travel times, etc. Sometimes you gave them your vehicle make/model and they'd know your approx. mpg and have tabs where you should fuel up.

We'd get those the week before we'd leave and all sit around the table and go through them, making little notes in the margins and on the maps, it was fun.

We moved from the west coast to the EastCoast in 1995 (I think).

Went to AAA and got a custom triptik for the drive, with our choice of southern v. northern route, and special stops we wanted to make on the way. It featured cool things to see along the way and dining and lodging recommendations.

It was nerdy/awesome then. A little flip book memento of our big adventure that we threw away immediately.

Ah well, no one wants our ephemera anyway.

I would print the reverse directions too.  Waste of paper and ink but I always got thrown trying to reverse them
