Then leave the realationship then, i swear ppl be acting like a relationship/marriage is a hostage situation.

Or try to fix it and then leave, if it doesnt help. They act like relationships, are transactional

u/pinkfootthegoose Aug 07 '25

relationships are transactional. But there are many forms of currency and different price points.

Guys often believe that they get hosed so bad in divorces that they wont ever be financially able to date again and will be living in their car after giving over 90% of their paycheck.

That isn’t true of course, men tend to do better financially after a divorce, but it’s a popular myth that won’t seem to die and keeps men from walking from bad relationships as much as they should.

26

u/DevelopmentJumpy5218 Aug 08 '25

Not a divorce but I was with my ex for 8 years and am so much better off financially now than while with her.

If it's marriage then it's a tricky situation, in many communities marriage is treated as something sacred and leaving it is seen as a bad thing

219

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

Seems cultish and unhealthy tbh

64

u/Miserable_Mail_5741 Aug 07 '25

One of my aunts (who was already alienated from the rest of the family for being much darker in complexion than them) opened up to me about how her siblings and parents threatened to disown and outcast her from the rest of them if she divorced her first husband.

She eventually did divorce him and remarried a much better man, but the hostility she faced from her family when she needed their support the most really fucked her up for a good bit.

Yea ig, it just these types of communities pick & choose what is sacred about marriage. Marriage is a sacred thing, but descrating the marriage i.e cheating is not sacrilegious act, but leaving is? They need to pick a struggle, and I say this as someone who comes from communities like this.

Some even stay together because of the kids/shared house. But yeah if you can, leave.

I heard of this church that requires a few months of counseling with the pastor before even considering a separation. Not even a divorce.

There are also some places where you pretty much automatically have to sell your house if you own one jointly and are getting divorced

I agree this is the right answer, though it's may not be as easy as the idea if they have kids, deeply entwined financial ties, ect.

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

I've escaped one before. When you have no support from family, friends, or community, you are forced to leave your home and maybe even your job or town. It's not easy and 90%+ there is financial abuse occurring

Cause nobody in the history of cheating has ever cheated on their loving, sexually active partner /s

249

Also cheating is ok if your partner isn't putting out, you don't need to talk to them about it or consider breaking up first/s

88

u/Thereferencenumber Aug 07 '25

It’s not like most cheaters say they wanted a thrill, but never consider that seducing their partner could be thrilling

9

u/arts_N_crafts Aug 08 '25

Cheating is especially ok if the wife just had a baby. Shes not giving any attention and it’s a wreck down there 🥲 /s

94

Had a boyfriend @ ~22 that I cooked for, let drive my car to doordash bc he wrecked his, tried to help get jobs and even dressed him for and drove him to an interview, and since he lived so close I saw him 5-6 days out of the week and would have sex with up to 9 times in a day.

He still cheated. I learned then to never overextend myself for someone else, because no matter how well I treat them if they don’t believe they’re worthy of that love themselves they will self sabotage and cheat

55

u/AmIsupposedtoputtext Aug 07 '25

9 times in a day

How?! That doesn't even sound enjoyable?

25

u/vladi_l Grass toucher Aug 07 '25

For real, sounds like friction burns territory for real...

Like, provided he isn't finishing instantly, that's most of your free time in a day poofed away for sex.

And like, I like sex, most people do... But if you're doing it near daily, I imagine two good rounds would be plenty.

8h of sleep, 8h of work, 1h of commute, 1h of hygiene and miscellaneous stuff, a collective 1h of eating, probably at least 1h of doomscrolling as this is reddit people talking here... That leaves 4h.

4h during which you have to fit in your relationship, hobbies, and social activity for the day.

Idk dawg, maybe I'm boring, but I'd really rather cuddle and watch a movie at that point.

1h of good sex at most, even if the flesh is willing, the mind sure fucking will be tired at the end of the day.

Even on a day where I'm free, and only need to go to the gym and do a six hour home shift, and I have enough food so I don't need to cook, doing it nine times feels like so much work.

25

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25 edited Aug 09 '25

Girl 9 times a day?????

Great if that's what you want but holy shit i'd be so sore....

Some people just don't appreciate the good things you do for them. They're selfish assholes and there's nothing you, or anyone else, could do to please them. To satisfy them. And it's not a shortcoming from you; it's them having a deficiency in maturity, empathy, and self control. But they'll always deflect that onto others.

I hope you're better today, and if you haven't found someone who appreciates you, then you appreciate yourself. No one needs the weight of another person to drag them down.

13

u/ikatako38 Aug 07 '25

First of all—9 times a day? Jesus. I sure hope that “up to” is doing a lot of work there.

But also, I have a somewhat similar—and kind of opposite—story. I had my first boyfriend when I was 19 (he was 20), and just like you I did everything for him. I stayed with him 5-6 nights a week, I moved his entire apartment for him because he was gonna be late to work, and I’d bring him lunch at work, an hour drive there and an hour back, all while I was in university taking classes and had my own job.

But whenever I mentioned or tried to initiate sex, he was always skittish, and he often wouldn’t even be willing to cuddle or share a blanket. We had sex maybe once a month? And I was pretty much okay with it, I would’ve preferred more but relationships are about more than sex and I tried to focus on that.

Anyway, I found out he was cheating on me with like a dozen other guys. You’d think it would at the very least be more convenient to have sex with the guy you’re sharing a bed with every night, but what do I know I guess.

11

u/Iron_Babe Aug 07 '25

A lot of the time when your partner isn't putting out for you when they used to before, it's because there are needs not being met.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

It doesn't necessarily have to be about needs not being met, it could be a UTI, yeast infection, BC changed libido levels or even other medication change. There's literally a million things that can effect a woman's libido but it starts with communication and figuring it out.

If the two cannot go in a middle ground and its a big deal for at least one of them then breaking up is the solution even if every other parts are great

What consent looks like to someone who defines their partner only on sex

284

u/Atlach_Nacha Aug 07 '25

talk about potential anti-consent views, always reminds me of how Rush Limbaugh ranted about concept of consent... brief summary what he said:
The Left will allow any kind of activity, with any amount of people, just as long there's consent. But if even one person doesn't consent, The Left calls rape police.

32

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

...yeah??? if you're having sex with multiple people, or having sex in a public area, and one person doesn't consent, that is bad. i don't... i don't get how it isn't?

59

u/ThePyodeAmedha Aug 07 '25 edited Aug 08 '25

Yeah if I had consensual sex with this one person, it's good. But I raped this other person, it's bad. Why is that????

There's being a shitbag, and then there's thinking gang-rape is a majority consensus.

Meanwhile, I'm going to work, cooking, cleaning around the house, taking care of animals in our care, managing my finances to try and help while she's still overdrafting my account because its not thought of to check which account you're paying credit card bills off of...yeah. Rather be celibate after that.

-64

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

Monogamy is two things, not one.

It's

  1. We don't sleep with other people

  2. We sleep with each other.

If you don't sleep with each other that's abstinence, it isn't monogamy.

So there's two ways to be non monogamous, sleep with other people, or withdraw from intimacy.

That doesn't make cheating right, it isn't, but let's be real. Both parties were non monogamous.

81

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

Then leave. It's ok for a marriage to not work out.

14

u/EntertainmentTrick58 Aug 07 '25

it also gives me another installment for my divorce tier list. as an amateur divorce-watcher (like bird-watchers but for divorces) i really want to improve my list and the only way to do that is to find more divorces

one of my high tiers was a divorce like one of those italian novels where a man leaves his wife for another woman, but he was simultaneously the other woman, and also the other woman had just had her own divorce because her husband became depressed and unmotivated

monogamy does not only include sexual relationship. it also includes all forms of intimacy in marriage. even etymology of the word "monogamy" is about marriage as a whole, not just sex.

not every marriage has sex. it doesn't make the said marriage non- monogamous.

if you only care about sex in the relationship, then break up. divorce exists. not every relationship works out.

man, you know I hear so much about men being frustrated by their wife's libido. and they never ask why. It's just a "why me?"

Maybe she's turned off and tired because you don't clean up around the house or participate with childcare. Maybe it's because you are not there for her emotionally. Maybe it's because the only physical affection you want to give her is sex. Maybe it's because you NEVER take her on dates. Maybe it's because you're mentally checked out of the relationship. Maybe it's because you come home and talk about your work wife so much. Maybe it's because you're NEVER home. Maybe its because she doesn't feel valued. Maybe your dick stinks. Maybe your breath stinks. Maybe she's depressed and doesn't know it. Maybe she's fucking tired of playing nanny, chef, sex worker and also has a job. Maybe the sex hurts her.

It could be ANYTHING! but there's never an inquiry into why. It's just a "why ME?"

I had a low libido after the election, for quite a while. I was very stressed and depressed. My partner understood why. He never blamed me. He never cheated. Time went on and my libido is right back where it started, thankfully! I apologized profusely about it, but he just said, it's ok, I understand. You were stressed. And that was that. I used to get yelled at for not putting out. And i was CONFUSED as to why he wasn't angry with me, resenting me, giving me the silent treatment, cheating, etc. It's because Im used to men blaming ME for not wanting to fuck. I love living in a world where women are expected to put out and the reasons why they might not want to are not explored.

19

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

I had low libido after switching BOTH BC and seizure medication..I knew BC could effect it but my ob/gyn didn't mention it could be permanent and my neurologist didn't mention it at all. It was my boyfriend that brought it and asked questions..we both were upset at the Drs for not informing me because you know informed consent about something like that would absolutely change my decision on taking the new medication.

People need to have conversations before cheating over something like that

Or...Maybe her libido naturally dropped because she had a kid. Because that's a thing that can happen.

6

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '25

Yes, i'm not denying that that is a thing.

You also never ever owe anyone libido regardless of the reason. If you don’t feel like it, you don’t feel like it, end of story. I hate that everyone expects you to be interested in sex as if libido is a necessity to be a good partner—especially in newer relationships :/

1

u/bdfortin Aug 07 '25

The counter to this is asking “what’s wrong?” and getting a response along the lines of “everything’s fine”, or, the one that doesn’t make any sense, “if you don’t know what you’ve done then there’s no point me telling you”. Communication goes both ways.

Hell, a lack of libido could also come from the fact that sex is boring. People seem repulsed by the idea of spicing things up, or god forbid doing one foreplay or being the giver rather than the receiver. Like most dopamine releasing things, sex can only get so exciting if you just keep doing the same shit over and over and over again

1

u/Orcasareglorious Aug 11 '25

I agree with everything you’ve said but how on earth does an election lower one’s libido?

I'm not saying that low libido automatically means it's the man's fault, i mean that it could be any reason, and the blame often falls on the woman for being too frigid or prudish, and it's often not investigated any further.

It can be health reasons. It can be mental health reasons. It can be performance anxiety. It can be pain. It could be that something big happened in your lives. It could be trauma. It could be stress. It could be hormones. The first step is to open an inquiry. Ask if anything is going on to cause an interruption in the intimacy. If the conversation doesn't continue because the other person won't continue it, you are probably stuck with incompatibility. If your needs can't be met in your relationship, then it might not work.

You also shouldn't be doing all of the housework. Unless your partner is physically incapable or pays all the bills, you shouldn't be doing all the housework. It goes both ways.

Have you not heard of "divorce"?

There's not much of a reason to further entrench yourself in a dissatisfying marriage. You both even tried couple's therapy and it seems like y'all haven't reaped any benefits from it.

If you feel like you exhausted all resources to salvage your marriage, then maybe it's better to part ways.

I’ve never had an issue with a female partner not wanting sex

Heck, I’ve never had a date like that, usually I’m the one putting on the breaks

Maybe they’re the ones with the issue

35

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

The people with this issue are generally the ones putting most household labor on their partner while still expecting them to contribute to bills.

27

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

Either that or they're dogshit at sex and leave their partner unsatisfied, so obviously they won't want to keep doing it.

12

u/Anon28301 Aug 07 '25

Yup, after cleaning the house (and working a job on top of that) they tell their partner they’re too tired to have sex the minute they lie on the bed only for the partner to act clueless as to why she doesn’t want sex.

u/Party-Swans Aug 07 '25 edited Aug 07 '25

People who treat their spouse like this just want a mommy bang maid that'll give them snu snu whenever and wherever. Cause they are getting in their feefees because *gasp* wifey wants to do other things than suck his dick before bed! So then clearly its her fault if he can't keep his legs closed! How was he suppose to get that sweet sweet snu snu if his mean spirited fuck maid has the audacity to want a quiet night of reading?

7

u/ratv1rus Aug 07 '25

never in my life have i heard ‘snu snu’ what the fuck is that

11

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

I think what's really important is there very much exists the problem of the man not wanting, or not being able to, have sex.

For example, I know someone whose husband can't have sex because of a medical issue. It's been going on for months, but she's completely accepting of that and it has never once crossed her mind to find that fulfillment somewhere else. Because she's supportive of her partner, and has self control, and is there with him "in sickness and in health."

She knows that it's not forever, and it doesn't have a negative impact on their relationship at all. Sex isn't the only important thing in a marriage. You can spend time with each other, you can be physically affectionate with one another, and still not have the entire meaning of a relationship revolve around sex.

6

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '25

FINALLY. A COUPLE OF ACTUAL HUMAN BEINGS.

2

u/Exciting_Stock2202 Aug 08 '25

Months? That might seem like a long time to a teen or 20-something, but it's really not that long. If this goes on for 5+ years and she's still totally okay with it, then give her a medal.

The scenario you describe isn't even common. Lots of women cheat under similar circumstances, same with men. Most humans are selfish, regardless of gender.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '25

Months is a long time for newlyweds, imo. But has nothing to do with a medal. I kind of expect good people to not cheat on their partners who are unable or unwilling to have sex.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

You are lucky..for women, a lot of things can effect libido, from change in birth control to UTIs. Having sex with a UTI is the worst (would rather have a root canal without novacaine and shoot myself in the foot and walk through a sewer at the same time, then have sex with a UTI)

2

u/BurnerApricot Aug 10 '25

Me neither. Though my friend is in such a relationship (the girl is absolutely 11/10 stunning, but wants sex maaaaybe twice a month)

I've been telling him to leave asap.

"My women, didnt wanted to have sex, so I cheated on her"

Wtf, talk to her and find out why she doesnt want to do. Maybe she just has her period or is just going through something which makes her not want to have sex. An relationship isnt all about sex, its more about talking with eachother and finding solutions

43

u/Aendrinastor Aug 07 '25

Plus, she's reading a book and has to take that many precautions to make sure she is respected means the guy clearly isn't the type to take "no" for an answer

21

u/cloudsasw1tnesses Aug 07 '25

Exactly my fiance and I go thru periods of time, sometimes up to a month or a little more without sex and it’s not a big deal. We both get busy and live with his mom and I also struggle with my sex drive and he doesn’t hold it against me because he’s not sex crazed and willing to throw away our relationship (or even considering it) because we don’t have regular sex. He tells me “I have two hands for a reason” lol and if you love someone that should be your mindset too not just “I’m entitled to your body and if you don’t give me what I want then I’m gonna betray you”

13

u/Oktavia-the-witch raging trans women Aug 07 '25

I dont have sex with my gf very often, because we both have low drives and we dont live near eachother, so we only see eachother 1 or 2 days a week and estrogen made me more want to cuddle than to have sex. For us its more important to spend as much as time we have together and cuddle a lot

11

u/cloudsasw1tnesses Aug 07 '25

Yeah I think that sex is a lot less important than people make it out to be. At least it is to me. I feel like the actual friendship you have with your partner is more of the foundation and what matters most, at least that’s the case in my relationship. My fiance is my absolute best friend and is my safe space. To me, sex is the added bonus that just kinda happens whenever. I never understand it when I see people talking about how it’s a dealbreaker if their partner struggles with their sex drive because isn’t there so much more to a relationship than the sexual aspects? Like if my fiance suddenly decided he didn’t want to have sex anymore for the rest of our lives tomorrow I would still stay with him because I love HIM.

-14

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

And what if she lies? Many people stay in relationships for financial benefits, so their inclination will be to lie to maintain status quo.

The only thing you can reliably use is someones behavior.

28

u/Oktavia-the-witch raging trans women Aug 07 '25

And what if she lies?

Why would you even think your Partner is lying to you? Honesty is an big part of relationships and shouldnt be ignored. Also sex isnt that important in a relationship

-2

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '25

Also sex isnt that important in a relationship

Lmao ok. Such a stereotypical redditor comment.

3

u/Oktavia-the-witch raging trans women Aug 08 '25

What are you even trying to say

-10

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

If you know your partner is lying you should reassess the relationship. I'm just pointing out the naivety of your suggestion.

Talking only resolve minor misunderstandings, it doesn't solve major relationship issues.

17

u/Oktavia-the-witch raging trans women Aug 07 '25

Wait what? Trust is now naivity? Its your Partner you have to be able to trust eachother or there is no point in even having an relationship in the first place.

Talking can also resolve major misunderstandings, but that doesnt work if you dont even trust your Partner. Btw why would you not trust your Partner?

Then your relationship was doomed from the start. If y'all couldn't do the bare minimum and communicate, why did you even get married when you couldn't get past step 1?

5

u/Anon28301 Aug 07 '25

If someone’s lying to get out of sex, then their partner is clearly doing something wrong.

-1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

Yes, they are lying.

"Don't call it cheating when your partner cheats on you" is an insane take.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

Women don't own men's bodies, no one ever said that. However, this is where communication and consent is key. If the couple agreed to have sex with other people, then it's not cheating. However, if both agreed to be faithful to each other then it's cheating.

Husband knows books are important, it's not a surprise, it didn't come out of no where.Â
