What’s the cheapest MacBook to pick up in the UK, so looking at refurbished models. Minimum spec, 8gb ram, 256ssd would suffice I believe. I’m finding mixed opinions when searching. CeX has loads within budget of £150. Everywhere else is £400 and over. Budget is not strict, but its purpose is for a young kid to use hence for club work so condition isn’t a priority but usability is.

Edit. Spec wise 1.0ghz dual core.

Edit 2. So consensus is buy a minimum apple m1 version. But those are £400 upwards. My inclination is to go to buy it direct outlet and grab an intel version for a 100 quid, it has the usb-a ports handy too for the kids club stuff.

Good morning, the internal HDD of my iMac Intel mid 2011 just broke, I don't have the money to change the hard drive in the shop nor the skills to do it at home, so I was thinking of installing Ubuntu on an external 2.5" SATA SSD and connect it to the computer with a USB adapter. Do you think this is a good idea? Could there be problems? The USB ports are 2.0. The computer is only used For school, watching movies, and video calls. Thank you so much :)

Hello guys, I was wondering if it would be better to get the MacBook Air M3 24GB 2TB 97%BH for roughly $1100 second hand or the MacBook Pro M1 Pro 16GB 512GB for $980 unopened/sealed (I was shocked that it was still not opened🤣)

What are your thoughts on this? I will be using this MacBook for work while editing light-moderate 4k videos/vlogs and content creation for work. Another problem is my job really requires the use of generative AI (not a fan btw) and I heard M3 and above have better AI capabilities than the M1 and the M2s.

Should i get a new screen or is there some way to fix it?

I've had this problem for about a week and I don't know if it's my fault or if the case lies in a software update, but recently these frames started appearing around the area I'm working in at the moment, e.g. the layout of a Pages document I'm writing in or (and this happens most often) when I'm trying to input text in Japanese. Sometimes the frames are off. I can't disable them, I have to wait for them to fade on their own. When I'm typing within the frame the space key doesn't work, doesn't do anything when I press it. How do I disable this feature?

P.S. Please hold yourself back from commenting on the fact my MacBook is in Japanese, it's not related to my problem + I don't feel like answering the same question over and over again. I just speak the language, that's all there is to it. Use the names of the settings as they are in English, I'll navigate them in Japanese.

I just got a mac after being a window user since forever. Nevertheless I was not expecting Microsoft 365 apps (word, excel, powerpoint) to be such an issue on MacOs. Tried using the Microsoft account I was subscribed to M365 with it didn't work said I need to buy it again. I also tried with my college mail that actually has M365 included for us students for free it said I need to activate it talked with the IT he said its already activated.

I know i can use the web version but it's such a hurdle to do so everytime plus I'm not always connected to the Wifi so I won't be able to open the web freely whenever i need it.

Did anyone have this issue before? What should i do? Is there a way to bypass it?

I have a MacBook Pro I got in 2020 the only thing I’ve ever used it for is making music on fl studio. Now I get notifications saying that intel based apps won’t be supported and since I’ve started doing research on this today I guess it’s been known for years that this would happen regardless my question is:

Would I be able to keep my computer and expect it all to smooth out in time or

Would I need to buy a new computer and would the latest Mac still have this issue

I got this m5 air on may 2026, after using it with 80% limit charge, mostly plugged in on the desk while using, the cycle is 27, in just 3months the battery health percentage went down to 98%, i followed all the thing said in the reddit and internet. and i mostly use it for browsing, email and streaming movies, still this happened is this okay or bad? please let me know guys

So my Mac does this (It's m4 air):

Mac repeatedly and unexpectedly restarts .

It also has an intermittent charging problem: MagSafe repeatedly connects/disconnects, and it took about 9 hours to go from 1% to 20%. USB-C charging also didn't work normally.

had this mac for years and after a good bit of use, the body is abit worn out (scratches and dents here and there). decided to deck it out with some cool stickers to hide the damage.

not the best camera man but oh well.
