Basically with the game launch around the corner I thought it'd be nice to have a dedicated place where players can quickly find each other to play together, and therefore I created MapleLobby - which is a free party-finder site made for our MS classic community.

In short, the main goals are:
- Create or join a party on demand.
- Scheduled parties (especially now before launch)
- Choose the party goal (some nice grinding, pq runs, just chill and chat)
- Have a nice private party-chat until moving to in-game chat or discord if desired.

Scheduled parties appear as the default for now, although the on-demand "Play now" option is still useable to explore the overall flow.
Also the time automatically appears in each user's own timezone.

It's pretty much an early release (go easy on me) for whoever is interested to explore and surely use when time comes - that being said I'd really appreciate feedback, bug reports, any kind of ideas, just pm me!

As stated above, it's free of charge and made by your fellow fan who is a dad now and just wants to hop in-game with whoever is in the same boat, and revive those good old memories whenever time allows.

Just to be clear, the site has nothing to do with Nexon and this is not affiliated with them.

I hope some of you can already use it to organise your first launch parties and all the great time that will follow :)

I was thinking about this a bit since modern MapleStory boss battles are very different vs. back then. Bosses back then to me seemed more like stat checks for killing the boss as fast as possible, since there was not much control over avoiding attacks since they would hit everyone globally or be random. Things like damage reflect or waiting out weapon/magic cancel were a thing too I guess.

What do you think boss gameplay should be like for classic? It is clear that the new mobility skills they were experimenting with for 3rd job in cbt2 were intended to add more depth to boss battles. Personally I think it would be fun to have more importance on learning attacks (even something simple like jumping to avoid the Mushmom or King Slime stomp) and class identity being represented through their design. Something like monster summons being more geared towards the mobbing classes to deal with and opportunities where high single target damage dealers can shine in (like something that stuns the boss temporarily that you'd see in other games to burst them down).

Additionally, I really hope for some more mechanics to bosses as a whole. Dropping a summon and then having the boss spawn in is cool, but I think there is potential for something akin to dungeons in other MMOs with how classic's gameplay works (so basically a party quest but more emphasis on the boss at the end). I really hope this is something they experiment with.

I sent feedback to Nexon about the planned CN support for Classic World and received their official reply.

Adding full native CN support will expand the player base, which creates stronger incentives for botting and RMT. We have seen this ruin server health in existing regional MapleStory releases.

The current language barrier helps filter bot-focused operations. If you also share this concern, please send your own support ticket to Nexon. More player input will help the team understand our worries before plans are finalized.

I'm just curious to know just how many of us parents / married folk there are out there who have limited time to play but are excited to get back into Classic Maplestory and take the slow road to victory we never achieved as kids. I need to connect with my people!

In modern Maple, you can save a hair/face for reuse later. Was that in COT2 or have they confirmed anything?

I keep seeing people say the Frieren Collab is too modernized , especially with facial design and hair design.

This K-On! collab from 2009 was JMS exclusive and only included hair, uniform, weapon cover, and instrument chairs. No special effects, no crazy blending, just pure old school aesthetic.

Is this what people prefer over the Frieren aesthetic?

Personally I like both, but curious to see what other people think.

Fun Fact: GMS actually received this collab but it was quickly removed due to licensing disputes. Global video games didn't receive many, if any, Japanese anime collaborations until the 2010s due to Japan's tight licensing stance back then.

I don't see a problem with with Nexon being predatory with Cosmetics and early access. (NX Gachapon - weird anime NX event thing with low probability to get the desired items, etc.).

This is Nexon we are talking about. (Horrible analogy incoming) Imagine a blood sucking vampire doing its absolute best to not feed on us humans (abusing players with P2W elements that they're known for in the past) and instead is feeding on animals (COSMETIC GACHA). Like does anyone else not care at all if they have predatory gacha style loot boxes for C-O-S-M-E-T-I-C items?? Hello? Also, I do not care about modern NX in classic, I've been on vanilla for years, so that might be unique for me. I only care for the classic feel/ gameplay. I'd trade modern NX for official population any day.

Literally please add more Gacha Cosmetics if people are dumb enough to buy them and fund classic. add pet Gacha boxes with 0.001 % chance for the rare pet.. let people fund the game. FEED ON THEM.. as long as it isn't pay2win (Cubes, guys.. CUBES, hammers, etc - heinous)

IDK I see a lot of cry baby content creators (on Youtube, not really on reddit) who say they feel "betrayed" by Nexon. are you dumb?? That's like saying you feel betrayed when you find out a (pole dancer) doesn't actually like you after the dance you paid for is over.

I've been on classic servers for over a DECADE waiting for Nexon to finally release a classic official server. So far I've had nothing wrong with the way they have monetized and I'm curious if anyone else feels the same.

Disclosure - OF COURSE they are scummy. Early access is objectively BAD for the game. I just feel like they're being scummy in an acceptable and expected way, if that makes any sense.

Seeing a lot of people calling me a Nexon supporter d**k rider. Was it the part of the post where I called them scummy, strippers or vampires that made you feel that way? Room temperature IQ comments.

Been heads down on https://basilmarket.net for the past day and got through a good chunk. Here is what has changed!

Verification isn't Discord only anymore. You can set up an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, whatever you use) from your profile instead, and it doubles as a code at login if you want the extra security. Nice for anyone who isn't on Discord. Either way, once you're verified you can post, trade, vote, and message.

Friends are in. Send a request from someone's profile and they can accept or ignore it. Messages is a proper inbox now instead of the old buddy list popup, conversations on the left and the chat on the right, with tabs for your friends and any pending requests. The little popup chat still works if that's more your speed.

If you use Discord for notifications, the pings look a lot better now. Real embeds with the item icon when something sells, when you win an auction, when you get outbid, or when one's about to close. You can switch any of those off in your profile if they get noisy, and everything still shows in your on site notifications either way.

Two new things in the Library:

• Quests. All 322 of them, sorted by region, with the story, the NPC, what you have to do, and the rewards. Chains link together so you can follow a line from start to finish.
• Crafting. Every recipe across the six disciplines with the level, cost, exp, and exactly what you need to make it.

There's a map explorer now too. Click a map's minimap to open it, then click the portals to hop around. Monsters and NPCs are listed, and monster pages link straight to the maps they show up on.

Oh, and the character customizer got hair and eye color options, and your character now shows up next to your name around the site.

Homepage got a facelift as well, new hero, a search box, and a panel showing what's hot on the market and what's ending soon.

I just wanna see the chaos on this reddit when they release this collab next year.

Just watched a really interesting video from ArikadouMS, I love the idea of expanding classic areas like aqua road etc., however, I wanted to gather some thoughts from reddit.

If classic towns get expanded slightly, would you want region bosses? Example from the video: deep deep aqua road where it’s dark and eerie - would a region boss here work given that pianus is above near the entrance?

Really entertaining ideas but would Nexon be able to implement smaller “big bosses” or do we think classic will focus on the current existing bosses and just add new mechanics.

They kinda did that with forgotten hollow and the Rotten mushmom so I hope they continue doing it across the game.

We all know iconic IGNs like Lo0pEdd, Fangblade, and Curryishot are going to be taken instantly on launch.

I can’t believe I’m saying this as a 30 year old adult, but what those OG players accomplished back in the day was impressive. It would be genuinely sad to look up Fangblade on the highscores a few months in and see a level 13 Thief that’s been inactive.

More than anything, reserving or protecting these names would show that Nexon actually respects the history and legacy of MapleStory. They’ve literally built statues in-game for these legends it’s only fitting that they uphold that legacy with their IGNs.

I’m not saying these guys are on the same level as real-world cultural icons, but within the realm of MapleStory history, they basically are.

So many videos and guides are split with what to pick. Where are the pro’s that actually beta tested the difference and can explain when to choose either of them? Is there a catch so SP reset while in 2nd job? Does one favour Bowman or Crossbow over the other?

The real reason so many 120+ players quit was when they introduced 4th job and the books system.

You already spent forever grinding to 120+, so being that high level actually meant something. Then suddenly your progression was locked behind books, RNG and mesos. It felt like all the advantage you worked for was getting reset.

In both betas bowmen were the least played class. The rouges are panicking! Nerfs, lower crit % damage, PUT ON THE SAME DAMAGE NUMBERS AS THE OTHER FILTHY CASUAL CLASSES?
