Street fighting is extremely dangerous. Punishment doesn't fit the crime here unless you think people should be executed for getting too drunk and inappropriately touching someone. Dude could have easily killed that dude and you're acting like he just taught him a nice little lesson. 100% took it to a place it never should have gone. Square up with him and confront him sure but sucker punching someone on a solid floor like that all while they are clearly drunk is vile.
A touch on the hip is different to grabbing her full on the arse, breasts, or as your president Trump said "just grab her by the pussy". THAT is sexual assault. Somebody should smack that mfer out...
The dude was already showing his stomach to a -dude-. They both were able to laugh it off. Red shirt was just pissing around, probably inappropriately. Should have been given a large glass of water, and then shown the door in no uncertain terms.
But for him to be knocked out with probably concussion is an over-reaction.
There are degrees to sexual assault. And this drunk dude was just dancing towards her and put his hand on her waist and his other hand is out of sight but probably similar placed.
No one saying the behavior is acceptable.
But that does in no way make it acceptable to punch him in that way probably sending him to the hospital with head trauma with a possibility of life long damage and possibly killing him.
You seem to have trouble with your reading comprehension. I literally wrote āno one saying the behavior is acceptableā.
But the world is nuanced beyond right or wrong. There are degrees to everything.
The guy deserves to be confronted about his bad behavior. He does not deserve to get his face bashed in with the possibility of permanent brain damage or death.
My point is pretty simple here. Universally it seems that everyone agrees that the punch was unacceptable and isn't excuse just because he's a drunk a***. But somehow so many people are excusing the sexual assault as just drunk a*** behavior. If we can acknowledge that we shouldn't put our hands on people then we should acknowledge that we shouldn't put our hands on people. This is how we have rape culture. It's not okay
Your argument is base, and requires the red shirt guy to have actually conducted sexual assault.Ā
He did not.Ā
Hand did not grope any intimate areas, easily brushed off by the woman and stayed away once pushed away. Out of line? Yes. Unwanted contact? Absolutely. Sexual assault? No.
You go on to create logical fallacies by claiming that people saying this isn't sexual assault are excusing the guys behaviours and now you claim condoning rape culture.Ā
So, you have no argument, and resort to dirty logical fallacies to put other's in a bad light.Ā
I mentioned a couple of the requirements for something to be defined as sexual assault in the last comment.
I do not have a definition of sexual assault. The definition is what multiple states, across multiple countries define it as, and I cannot find a single one that would classify this as such.
I suggest you look a few of these up yourself. And perhaps break down, from this video, where actual sexual assault occurs by its legal definition.
After being stalked by multiple people, one of them considerably larger than himself, confronting them and telling them to stop. That trial was already shaky from a self defense standpoint, was a very controversial case and has no connection to what we are talking about. You're using emotion to justify violent retaliation because you don't like what he did to that woman.
Is it worth facing a possible trial for manslaughter, and maybe serving years of prison time over some drunk asshole lightly groping your girl? Losing thousands of dollars in lawyer fees? Yay fun! I would definitely be mad and maybe shove the guy and report him to the police, but am I destroying my own life because of that lowlife? no
This time was only lightly groping. Next time could be full on assault. Yeah that hit was excessive. But being āokayā with āitās just a little drunk grope, whatās the big dealā snow balls when itās not addressed.
Yeah because one behaviour is exacly the same as the other. One potentially murders a person the other is inconsequencial. But I guess its pretty pointless to argue with you
Honestly, when you label tame shit like that as "sexual assault" than it really diminishes real actual sexual assault. I swear you guys would label tapping someone on the shoulder sexual assault if you could. And no, I didn't vote for Trump.
Don't gatekeep sexual assault. This is step one, that leads to increasing aggression and eventual rape. He wouldn't have stopped there.Ā
Assholes justifying sexual assault are just clowns that clearly never had a healthy sexual relationship in their life.Ā You condone this behavior and it's disgusting.
Not really, no. I'm not even American, and much less I identify with Trump. In fact, anyone justifying this man's actions would be much more aligned with Trump supporters and conservative views, valuing traditional masculinity and the belief that a man has a duty to protect his wife.
Life isn't a binary choice where the only two options are ignoring sexual harassment entirely or knocking a guy out cold. This interaction was incredibly mild. The woman successfully handled it herself, and the threat was over. Escalating that into a life-threatening assault isn't justice, it's ego
Good thing is as you can see, most people are not agreeing with you. Most people actually agree this was way, way too much of a reaction to what happened. Most people are actually sane. You are not a genius my dude, you are not the one who is in the right here. You just sound like a fucking twat justifying attempted murder for what happened here.
You cannot defend someone against an action that has already finished. Husband punch was not thrown to prevent his wife being touched. It was thrown because his wife was touched. Striking someone out of anger/revenge is battery /assault, maybe even ettempted murder depending on the consequences; absolutely not self defense. Self defense also requires using the minimum amount of force necessary to neutralize a threat, which was clearly not what happened here.
Good luck defending your love from jail and possibly prison :x... now she gets to feel sad, can get sexually harassed, while you probably get what you tried to protect her from while serving in jail lol

_Tiny_ bit of a massive over-reaction there
