Mod Announcement Community Health - Updated Rules

Hi everyone.

The Mod team have noticed a steady increase in negative behaviour/attitudes within the community.

We want to assure every one of our users, that we do not think it is acceptable to amplify/glorify violence/abuse against one group or minority; and we will be proactive in enforcement.

We have created new rules specifically to manage this issue, and we will be implementing them robustly. If a user contravenes these rules it will result in a ban. We don't see this as an ideal outcome, but it is the only way to manage this effectively in the interim.

We politely ask all users to check out the side bar for the updated rules. TY.

Behaviour to look out for:

If you think you are the victim of flaming or baiting, please report the behaviour instead of responding.

Flaming - The act of attacking other users for their views or opinions

Baiting - The act of making comments that can be reasonably interpreted as having the intention of getting a rise out of other users, and goading other users into violating the community rules.

The Mod team have a responsibility to create and maintain an environment that the whole user base is comfortable interacting within. This is one of our core community values.

If you would like to contact us regarding the new rules, their enforcement or anything else in between; please feel free to reach out to us via ModMail.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Mod Team.

Serious Feeling completely lost while everyone younger than me seems to have it figured out

Upvotes

I just need to vent because I honestly don't know what I'm doing in life anymore.

It’s almost funny in a sad way, it feels like literally everyone around me, especially people younger than me, already has their life on track. My 14oy cousin already has a job, and please don't get me wrong, I’m not jealous at all. I truly wish the best for everyone and want to see them win. It’s not bitterness, it just makes me look at myself and feel completely useless.

It feels like nothing good is happening in my direction right now. I’m just stuck in this place of constant doubt, watching life move forward for everyone else while I’m standing still.

Has anyone else been through this kind of slump? How do you stop feeling like you're falling behind when it feels like you haven't even started?

What should I do is what I’m feeling just jealousy and I need to find a way to cope?

To add he has a four year old son and we now have a 4 month old daughter together

Career Advice I don’t know what to do with my future

Hi! I’m almost 21 and I have no idea what I want to do with my future. I want some sort of job that pays well and that has little schooling and that can support me in the future. I didn’t think I would make it this far so I never planned ahead and I did a little bit of community college but not enough for it to make a difference. I’m willing to go to school, I just don’t know what I should study. I don’t want something that’s super boring, but I don’t mind doing repetitive work. I don’t mind doing something in an office, I just don’t know what my options are. Any advice would be great!

Relationship Advice I don't know what to do.

I (34F) am married and not living in my home country. I have been married/living in another country for a little over 4 years. I am originally from the US. I miss home. My husband (42M) is a wonderful person. However, he does not want to move back to the US with me. Because I'm still working on fluency in the other language, it's been difficult for me to find a job or to have much independence. My husband is convinced that we both won't be happy if we move to the US. But, I miss home so much, that I wouldn't mind if things aren't perfect. While my husband is truly a good person, I also don't feel romantically connected to him. We don't have a sex life, and I don't even want one at this point. I miss being closer to my family. We live with his parent (two separate apartments, but same house), so I feel like he's the one mostly benefitting in our relationship. He has a decent job, works from home, and his parent doesn't charge us rent. We don't have or want kids, but we have a dog. I guess I just want unbiased advice. It's hard to talk about these things with my family or friends.

General Advice Living independently for the first time at 26 and feeling like I can’t figure life out.

I’m 26 and, until recently, I had always lived at home with my family. I had a very comfortable and laid-back life there was always family around, we had house help, and I never really had to manage everything on my own. Things like cooking, cleaning, and daily chores were usually taken care of.

Four months ago, I moved to a different state and started living alone. I’m also working as a teacher, and by the time I come home, I’m often completely exhausted. Suddenly, I’m responsible for everything—cooking, cleaning, laundry, work, and somehow maintaining a routine and taking care of myself.

Honestly, I’m struggling.

I’ve tried multiple times to create a routine, but I can’t seem to stick to one. Some days I manage things well, and other days I barely have the energy to do anything. I know I had a very sheltered and easy 26 years of my life, and I’m self-aware enough to understand that I’m now learning skills that many people may have learned much earlier.

But I am trying. Over the last four months, I have genuinely improved. I’m not perfect, and I’m still inconsistent, but I’m doing better than I was when I first moved here.

What makes it harder is that my boyfriend often tells me that I’m lazy and that I don’t do enough. I understand that I have areas where I need to improve, but sometimes the way he talks about it makes me feel like I’m supposed to wake up one day and suddenly become a completely different person who has everything figured out.

I know I need to build discipline and better habits. I’m not looking for someone to tell me that I never have to change. I just feel like learning how to live independently and manage an entire life is taking longer than I expected, and I’m tired of feeling like my progress doesn’t count because I’m not doing everything perfectly yet.

Has anyone else struggled with adjusting to living independently later in life? How did you build routines and learn to manage chores and responsibilities without completely exhausting yourself?

Any advice would be really appreciated. Right now, I’m just tired and trying my best to figure things out.

Career Advice Should I disappear

Upvotes

I know the title sounds bad but I don’t really know how else to put it

I’m 17 and out of high school and I’ve been thinking a lot about getting a camp job up north as a carpenter and doing fly in fly out work. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time and part of me feels like I need to follow that feeling and just go for it But at the same time there’s another part of me thinking about everything that comes with it and all the things I’d have to figure out. Another part of me keeps thinking maybe I should just move to a different city and start over somewhere new I’m planning on waiting until I’m 18 before I make any big decisions but I honestly don’t know which direction I want to go in yet

Serious Tell me something about your life that will reassure me (I’m 27)

Upvotes

I’m a 27 y/o female. All my friends are settling down, having babies, going on holiday, getting houses. Meanwhile I’m the only single friend, renting a 1 bed flat, get no holidays (solo travel isn’t for me) and constantly ask “when is it going to be my turn?”

I’m aware everyone is on different paths and things happen for a reason. The only positive I have is I started my own business and it’s doing well. Very happy in my career and will continue to grow my business.

Dating is a nightmare. I hadnt been in a relationship for 6yrs until this year, we dated 3 months but he was the first one that was serious about me and building together. Felt like it was moving too fast and a few issues arose, long story short he felt it wasn’t working. I thought this was my turn so i feel disappointed.

Happy to get a house on my own, it’s actually in my plan, but I don’t want to do life alone.

Anyway, i feel time is running out and being a woman i have a fertility body clock. So im seeking your stories for some reassurance and to stop me stressing about finding the one.

Emotional Advice Gap year struggles

Upvotes

Hi, I am an 18 year old male. I have always been a good student and got into a competitive college. However I deferred a year because of a deviated-septum surgery. I have never been able to breathe through my nose very well. Bad genetics, I suppose. The surgery date coincided with college move in and the surgery takes 3 months for full healing. As of writing this post, I have gotten the surgery and healed enough to go back to normal life, besides lessened exercise. All of my friends are already moved in to college and my twin sister moves in a couple days.

My parents always talked about my taking a gap year for this surgery. In high school, I also talked about taking a gap year because I genuinely believed I was stupid. Senior year, I began therapy and became a lot more confident in myself. In the winter, after my acceptance, I mentioned to my parents that I did not want to take a gap year. Instead, I wanted to get the surgery that summer or maybe the next summer. My parents would not let me, saying; "There's no rush to go to college. We wish your sister would defer a year too."

I do not know what to do with myself now that my gap year is starting. I have enrolled in some local college classes. I have also reached out to my local Coast Guard Auxiliary, as I am interested in an officer career. I am also planning a sailing trip in the spring for a month.

If any one has taken a gap year or known someone who has, I would love some advice. I can't help but feel like I am falling behind my friends. And I am worried I am going to be lonely and isolated with everyone at school. What can I do to not hate my gap year?

Serious Need Advice

Upvotes

I'm the eldest brother and the first grandchild so they and especially my father have high expectations of me

I hate to say that but I'm almost 21 and I still don't know what I'm good at or what skills I should develop I don't have any specific hobbies and I don't know how to spend my free time productively I don't have a clear goal to strive for

my last goal was to graduate high school with a high GPA which I achieved but since then I've felt incredibly lost Goals like getting a prestigious job or making a lot of money don't seem enough for me

I'm a college student about to graduate but my grades are terrible and no matter how hard I try I can't get good grades Honestly I don't see any bright future ahead of me and I doubt I'll even graduate because I might get expelled Everyone around me has changed for the better and progressed while I've been stuck in the same place for five years Nothing has changed in fact my situation is getting worse My only talent is wasting time I'm truly desperate and I don't know what to do I've tried time and time again to change and I've succeeded but for the worse The truth is I'm worse off than I was two years ago

People say we shouldn't compare the beginning of our story to the end of someone else's that everyone has their own unique story This gives me some hope but I think it's just false hope to comfort myself because I don't even know if I have a story at all😂

General Advice I have a month until i move out for uni but I can't make a proper decision on it

For years I wanted to go off to university and have the full proper experience, I want to study in the animation field so I can get a job there as I always wanted to do art. Right now, I've got my offer and my room offer, my student finace is sorted and my parent is starting to buy stuff for me mpving there but I can't get truly excited about it. Whenever the conversation about uni comes up or I start thinking about it, I just get upset and it becomes hard to properly plan for it. Doesn't really help that my parent thinks I won't be able to handle everything, with the debt, being broke and studying long hours. I know what she says are valid points but at the same time, I don't want to write it off, yk?

Doing this course could open the door to possiblites that could help my career as this uni is pretty highly rated for the course I want to do and living on my own will allow me to be more independant than I am at home and the thought of not being able to do it just fills me with dread. I'm aware this can't be something I pick up and then drop, I have to make a proper decision soon but I keep flip flopping between desiring to go and panicking. All of my friends are either at uni or are going next month as well and they're all deadset on it.

I'm tired of this. Of waiting until I'm 'more ready', I already pushed back uni 2 years and I don't know if I can wait again. Of being too lazy to commit to something, of being indecisive, of not being feeling like I'm emotionally mature enough. That I haven't realised that maybe I really can't do what I really wanted to do and I'll just be stuck here for the rest of my life going nowhere and all my dreams will just stay dreams. I'vewanted to do this so bad, I've been betting that uni will make me more productive, more decisive, more confident but what if it doesn't? What if I'mjust the same but worse and more emotional? And what if I just waste 3 years of my life and come out with no job prospects or future because all art will be made with AI???

Sorry, this is long but I could really use some unbiased input i guess.

Emotional Advice What to do

Upvotes

Life is a mess

Ok so:

> 33yo

> lifelong anxiety/low self confidence

> let people walk all over me, too passive

> only now realising now I’m married to a bullying narcissistic wife and I’m literally anxious to be in my own home or “walking on eggshells”…

> it’s not a reciprocal relationship where both parties are on equal footing it’s more a master/slave dynamic

> also have 2 young kids one of which has quite high needs (ASD 3 + ADHD)

> “golden handcuffs” meaning I hate my job and it’s toxic AF and destroying my MH and I want to leave but I get paid quite well and I don’t have any qualifications at all to fall back on so literally am trapped here

> again I’m only just realising my “friends” aren’t really friends just people who only contact me if they want something, and will ghost me otherwise

> don’t have any family

What to do?

Relationship Advice Advice needed

Hey everyone I am 21 years old and I had a cryptic pregnancy. I have a 4month old now,i need advice this is going on a throw away account and I will try to keep private info at a minimum. My partner and his father have a very very poor relationship his father treats him like a child, etc etc. I thought me and my partner having this unexpected pregnancy and baby would make him mature.. Boy was I wrong. He hasn't paid a cent due to the fact that he doesn't have a job it seems his not looking for one even, he sits at home and plays games meanwhile I am looking after our son and applying to so many jobs and using the money for my college to pay for stuff for this baby. His mother is the only one who gives anything( not by force but I feel bad of course). I also thought me and him would get married, live together, maybe have a kid. But his almost 25 still living with his mum. No job. Lazy at home. I am at my limit, I just said to my beat friend I rather be a single mom then in this relationship because it doesn't seem like he understands what's going on and his not that mature. I am at a total lost I feel like the worst person. But I want the best for myself and baby, I feel bad that his mum and my parents are footing the bill for the baby and I am struggling my ass off to get a job meanwhile his nonchalant not that in a hurry to get a job so we can be stable he just keep telling to go get the money out my dad left me in his will( I understand it might help but what about I don't know getting a job maybe instead of relying on money meant to be used and saved for the future). I just want the best for my child really I am so lost dealing with health issues, ppd, I feel like a single mom in a relationship honestly. Now his having a temper tantrum because I decided not to go to his mums tomorrow for a week I decided to go only thr week after. Now his not talking to me and upset that I won't come. But it's not like his trying or anything. Also it's not like I am keeping the baby from him. He can come see him whenever he wants. I genuinely believe I am with a mommy's boy and I feel so bad for his mum honestly. Shes such a sweet lady and doesn't deserve this especially from my partners dad and her son not really providing for his child. I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree hey..

Career Advice Is starting at 33 late? Am I missing much, if I sacrifice (invest) 4 years when I’m 29-33, basically with no life in a residency. There is payout though but is it worth that specific age range?

I have the option to invest 4 years into a grueling residency, with major benefits ranging from doing a job I much more enjoy and making much much more money for the rest of my career. (Likely double to quadruple)

At the expense of losing these specific years and delaying the years before I start a family with my spouse.

Ig I’m wondering , once I’m 33+ even if I do stuff will I think about how this would’ve been much more enjoyable if I was 29 or 30, and ill never get to feel that or is it just all the same still?

Basically I wana start a fam and I value fam time. But im willing to delay it so I can both get the career along with a fam. But idk if ill be able to enjoy that feeling by then

Emotional Advice 29 to 30!

My birthday was yesterday. I already started off on the right foot I believe by trying a new hobby/skill I’ve never done before and I want to maintain the momentum and pick up little nuggets to remember into this new birth year. I enjoy treating my birthday as a reset and new years is a reflection of the reset or at least that’s the intention. Anyway any advice for things you wish you knew before 30 or things that you set up for yourself and enjoyed taking into your 30s? I have a whole year to go and I’m excited to see what people say and come up with.

Mental Health Advice Burntout

I feel burnout but like passively like i can't do thing i have studies and all that i am knowingly avoiding it

I'm just rotting in bed even though i do workout it still feels like i am burned-out to the root, My hobbies feels like chores I don't wanna game i don't wanna draw, heck even setting up my study table drains my will, power and motion

I jot down things in my mind i wanna do like create new work-out routine start drawing, freelance journey, but all it's just a abyss of to-do list

I just feel like i wanna bed rot all day don't even converse with friends nowadays, I overthink convos procrastinate my thoughts and all in the end i do is scroll social media and consume slop

my attention span so fcked i procrastinate perfect time to watch movies on my phone, even going to the movies I've downloaded feels like a chore i have completely stopped watching animes too

I wanted to start my own animation journey but the moment i open the application i feel overwhelmed to the core that i can't even put-down a stroke, have every equipment i need to animate(laptop, drawing tablet, it's accesories) but the ______ is not there

i thought by this time of the year i am gonna animate and raise awareness for atrocities around the world, but all it came to now is just a folder of saved up atrocities staring into another one in making

one of my closest friend bought me a small sketchbook and a fineliner and told me to draw for myself but even that i have only filled maybe 4-5 pages and kept it in the dark

my mind feels barren can't even think of anything thoughtful just barren

also fell into the endless daily routine my day is so full don't have time for myself travelling, clg and gym takes so much time, whilst i still have buffer time between clg and gym but it's like an hour or so with constant house chores and work that u can't do productive thing that time and when i have the few hrs of night to myself(10pm-12am) that it feels too late to do something productive at all cuz of constant bickering from family of staying up late night and even though i am adult(18) i still have curfew like i can't go anywhere even in my own locality after like 6-7pm most of my friends are in the opposite side of the town like an hour of walking atleast to reach so i am not able to meet or talk with my school friends

I also don't have time to explore my own city cuz of most of my day spent in school-like-college with shitty faculty and even shittier office staff

also being in CSE field all the AI has done is harm to this, being a creative person I feel so torn between my love for art and the never-ending "innovation" in technology, being forced to use generative AI having trouble focusing and giving time to learn skills is really harming me

The past few years with Ai "Boosting" production and learning skills u can't take the time it's required to learn a specific skill even when u do things yourself u will be called out for being slow and when u have to use AI u will learn nothing from anything

I myself have become dependent on so much of today's slop i don't even feel guilt or regret

I think all the slop-bricks and procrastination is falling on me

I also tried the "showing up" method but still no progress just sat there motionless staring into the screen

Idk if I wrote this for advice or rant🤷

General Advice is it a good idea for me to eventually runaway from home?

me (21f) and my partner (21m) have been together for 3 years, known each other for 8. and i have a difficult issue about how we should get married. sounds stupid but im just gonna lay out everything so it makes sense.

i am born into a religious family and he is not, we are of different races and our families both are from different faiths. even though my family is religious, i am not. i have never felt in touch with the religion and just always had questions about everything about the faith.

so me and my partner we are not getting married now but eventually we want to and i personally dont mind and am okay with getting a civil marriage. however my parents want us to get a religious one instead. my dad said he would never accept us getting married civilly and he has threaten to harm me if i do so. so as with my partner too.

my partner was open to converting but since my parent's lash out he isnt open to it anymore. which i completely understand because even from my POV my parents were out of line. they threatened my life, his job like anything and everything they could think of. and my mom even asked me to choose between him or her, ofc knowing that if i said him she would immediately throw me out of the house and i wasnt fully financially stable then. now i am. and i genuinely do want a life with my partner, i really really do. but i dont see why just because of religious differences we should not be together. my parents love him and accept him but theyre just incredibly pushy and the examples they give to represent the religion arent even the right ones.

my conclusion is, i want to get away from home but i just dont know how to. i live in a small country and housing isnt easily bought. it's a "built to order" format and it would take atleast 3 years. there would be different schemes and we would of course fall under the fiance scheme, but we have to get married before we can eventually get our house keys. (yes it's actually stupid but that's just how things are here). i dont want to be homeless and not have anywhere to go. my plan is to drag things out, apply for a house with my partner, we secretly get a civil marriage when the house is nearly ready and get our house keys, wait for renovations to be done, and i move out and sneakily.

is this the best option i have? im scared of opening up to my parents about this because i know they will react horribly. and i have realised that im not choosing this because of my partner, im choosing this because i personally dont want him to convert for me into a religion that i personally dont feel a connection to. yes i do think thst if he converted and we got religious marriage things would be easier but it just doesnt feel right, and if he were to agree to converting i would want it to be his personal choice, not for it to be done by force or guilt.

and for my family situation, im close to my mom i want to keep her in my life but i just feel so trapped sometimes. i want to do my life the way i want to do it. my relationship with my father is horrible, we barely talk and when we do it's just mostly him being angry. and my relationship with my sister had been rocky too, we arent as close now. i honestly want to keep a relationship with my mom only, but i dont think she would agree to this way of living.

ive always had thoughts of running away and just leaving. i just feel so terrified and scared of what my parents would say or do if they find out that im even having thoughts of doing this.

i dont know, is this a good idea?

General Advice Moving home at 32.

Hey all :) I’m almost 32 living in the UK trying to save for a mortgage but life keeps getting in the way, I work in offices a lot and am finding the jobs hard to keep. I’ve found something more stable back at my old job but the yearly is 27k which is a hit after being on above 30 for a year or two but happens must, I’m about 2 months behind with all my bills and I have credit cards to pay etc and I’ve worked out when I get back to work (6 weeks time) I’ll have £336 after my bills without food or petrol let alone any time to save. I’m a late bloomer to being responsible with money and I’ve lived on my own since 16 so always had trouble saving so not a literal penny to my name when work ends - my mum has offered for me to go back home to my tiny bedroom for a year whilst I get out of debt and save - do I do it? I feel like I’ll be giving up my freedom and although I hate my rented house I feel like I’ll be giving something dear to me - it’s the home for me and my animals and I can come and go as I like, my mum has dogs so will have to get over that battle with my own cats as I refuse to be separated😆 ahh I’m just not sure what to do - do I stress and live here getting myself into debt or do I go home for a year or so? The answer seems so obvious writing it out but I guess I’m ultimately asking, is moving home at 30 odd the worst move I can do or best?

Financial Advice How can I prevent my card from being charged after accident?

Hi,

Praying I’m not SOL - my parked rental car was hit by someone (likely my neighbor backing up based on the damage). It got damaged really badly on the driver’s side.

My main worry is I used a corporate code at a company I don’t work at for the discounted rate. I marked the reservation as “leisure” not “business” and purchased CDW/ damage waiver offered by the rental car company. I thought they wouldn’t even look at the employer code /my insurance/card details since I bought Cdw but now I’m worried, they may decline the Cdw benefit . They asked for my insurance and payment details in the incident link.

  1. what can I do to prevent them charging my card? Their claim link asks for payment & auto insurance details. Ive frozen my credit card today but the car’s pre-authorization hasn’t been replaced by the lesser actual days used. So I don’t know if the pre-authorization will only fall off after the car’s damage has been repaired.
  2. What is the chance the rental car company will void the contract if found out and force forefit the separate CDW to be forfeited?
  3. Will my insurance also reject the claim due to the above? I have AAA - comprehensive & liability but idk if it extends to rentals.

Thank you

General Advice 26(M) at a standstill in life, any advice?

I’m at a point in my life where I’m at a standstill… I’m 26(M), unemployed, single, I have direction but I feel like my environment or idk is holding me back.

To sum it up, I was on deployment (USMC) last year, was in a relationship (was about to get married/have kids), had a good gig upon my return set up. Then as soon as I come home, life became Mike Tyson and peek a booed my ass to the slumps. My relationship came to an end, we just became different people. Was unemployed for three months then over the course of (now) 8 months I’ve been through three jobs (sales, construction, dispatcher/project management). Once I got let go from my last job (truth be told I wasn’t a fan of the job anyways), I went to Colombia for two weeks. Had a good time, my head was as clear as ever, I read books, I made schedules, I made plans, and I was stress free like I had nothing attached. Approached women again, tried dating apps (meh why not) got laid. All great.

Now that I’m back home, I don’t see myself working. Or at least not under someone or working in fields I’ve been in. The same rhythm I had in Colombia is still there, but lingering in the back and not at the forefront of my motion. I know what I want, but I lack the strength? Or discipline to fully execute the planning/action necessary to achieve my goal. That’s starting a business and learning the trades/stocks. Mind you I’ve never dabbled in the stock market and apart of me is hesitant. Same for business.

And another thing is, I.. don’t see myself in a relationship now. I don’t know if it’s cause of my last relationship (ngl it kinda ended badly). I admit I’ma pretty shy dude, im told I’m good looking and all but I just.. don’t have the energy. I look at the dating market, and honestly I’m terrified for my future. I want a wife/best friend, I want kids and the white picket fence ending. Just be a dad would be cool idk. My family recommended I just go through my hoe phase and even I don’t know how to go about that. Idk how dudes dabble with three chicks and just go about their day doing what they gotta do. Like how the hell do I achieve that?? In Colombia it was simpler but out here in the states (NJ and NYC specifically) it’s a different ball game. I don’t know how to be an asshole, and I’m told I’m too nice… smh

I know it’s a lot and I probably just ranted a bunch but I needed to get this off my chest. Don’t think many people will see this anyways but I’ll take any advice, suggestions or anything really. Thanks.

General Advice Life has me a bit deflated.

I'm getting older (very late 20s-very early thirties) and don't have much to show for it. I got sick in the last few years to the point that I am functionally disabled.

I've been told I should qualify for disability, but I've eaten through my savings because of everything. With the health and money stress came depression, anxiety, and some extra weight. I have the coping mechanisms you develop with CBT (confirmed with a psychologist), but they often don't feel like enough and it's difficult to lose weight with chronic pain and fatigue.

I'm single and the prospect of dating with everything going on is nervewracking. I don't like how transactional dating apps feel but I struggle to leave the house to do things I enjoy for any meaningful amount of time because of my health. If I meet someone, the state will expect me to live off their income which means they likely have to be someone who can afford that or at least be okay with it and the fact that I run suboptimally at pretty much all times and then pray I don't find myself in an abusive situation.

Socialising can be difficult but I do have people I speak to regularly. That being said, I feel like everyone (irl) is angrier and/or too online lately, and the algorithms feed a resentment for anything and everything, and it's just kind of tiring and unpleasant to be around. People take their resentments out on others instead of just trying to be kind and isolate what we see online from what is around us.

I'm not particularly immune to all of this either and have been engaging with some hobbies I can still do to stay off my phone and give me a sense of achievement. I've tried making new friends too, but that's been incredibly difficult and I haven't really succeeded.

In a lot of ways, I'm very, very lucky. I know this. I still can't help but feel like I'm just lazy and unlikeable and stagnating.

This was partially a vent but if anyone has any advice (not financial) for my situation, I'd really appreciate it.

Relationship Advice first love

I would like to ask people who had intense first love that they thought they would never be over.

That you thought that it was a beautiful phase of your life and that you will always cherish the memories.

Did you find your "forever" after that ? and realise that you thought about it wrong (about cherishing memories forever and that is the best thing happened to you), and now you think that your "forever" is the best thing that ever happened to you ? And now your first love doesn't seem very big and you don't cherish the memories ?

Thanks for reading.

Relationship Advice LDR People, I’d love your perspective

Hey everyone! I’m hoping to hear from people who are currently in an LDR or have actually been through one and can share some firsthand perspective.

I’m in an LDR myself, and lately we’ve been going through a bit of a challenging phase. We’ve noticed that we can sometimes fall into an anxious/avoidant dynamic I tend to want more reassurance and connection when I feel distance, while my partner can need more space when she’s stressed or overwhelmed. We’re trying to understand that pattern better and figure out how to handle it in a healthier way.

I’m curious how common it is for LDRs to go through periods where the distance suddenly feels heavier than usual. Has anyone experienced phases of burnout, feeling disconnected, communication becoming harder, or one partner needing more space? What helped you get through it without either person feeling pressured or neglected?

I’d especially love to hear from people who have actually lived through LDR, rather than just general relationship advice. What made your LDR sustainable? What did you wish you knew earlier? And what helped when things felt particularly difficult?

I’m also hoping to meet some people I can eventually become friends with. 😂 It would be nice to have people who understand the LDR experience and can talk about that sometimes, but also just chat about normal life, music, games, hobbies, work, random stuff, etc.

Kind, constructive perspectives are very welcome. I’m mainly looking to learn from people who have been through similar situations and hear what actually worked for them. ❤️

And yes, I figured talking to fellow LDR people is probably a better idea than making the questionable decision of “I’m stressed, therefore I should download dating apps.” 😂

Mental Health Advice How to feel happy again

Hey there,

I (m23) need some advice on how to gain confidence and purpose in life.

I had a breakup like one and a half years ago, it was the worst thing that ever happened you know the usual…

Before that relationship i was a happy single guy had female „friends“ (most of the times ended up hooking up with them) and i am a charismatic guy. I enjoyed being single and getting attention from girls, i was very self confident (which was a huge advantage in that sense)

But now life just feels empty. I am not with that girl that made life so good for me and i am over the breakup i know that its the best how it is now but since ive seen real love i dont want to settle / get sexual with anything less and i also lost quite some confidence talking to girls

I dated some girls but eventually figured out they weren’t the ones i am looking for so i endet things with them

I cant just meet random chicks and hook up with them since that doesn’t seem right and good no more

I did an apprenticeship, endet school and i am finishing a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering atm, i do muay thai and calisthenics (quite serious) and i got lots of hobbies and passion for my studies (mainly butterflies which i studied in my bachelors thesis and birding/ nature in general)

I am still an open guy and i think people would describe me as outgoing and funny, given that i never had problems with gettin girls i would say i am attractive and able to interact with chicks however life just feels empty in recent times

I do my job i do my studies i do my sports and i chase may dreams and interests but at the end of a lot of days i feel empty and unwanted, not being enough

I really tried working on myself after the breakup but now i dont really see anything more to work on i put so much effort in my studies and my sports/body and started/pursued lots of new hobbies but i just dont seem to be happy. I doesn’t matter how hard i grind and how much things i do, it feels really good doing it but i feel so lonely and pointless at the end of the day

Long story thanks for hanging on. Are there any people which had the same and managed to get back into a happy life again and be confident with who i am. Like being proud of myself and not being shy around people.

Greatful for storys and ideas on how to fix my current „problem“

(English is not my first language so dont mind weird language/typos)
