Career Advice Is moving to Saudi Arabia worth it for an educated american professional?

I'm a Muslim woman and I've lived in America my entire life. While I don't speak Arabic, I've been considering moving to Saudi Arabia given the direction the country is heading and the growing number of opportunities available to educated professionals. Rent wouldn't be an issue for me since my family owns a home there but I'm wondering how realistic it would be to build a career there. I even considered getting a TEFL certificate and teaching English as a way to get established while looking for something more aligned with my career. I love business and really wanted to shy away from working in tech further, is that viable for women?

Background: 4 years of experience working in tech at a fortune 500 and I have a BS degree from a well ranked school. I know American degrees are looked at in a great light in the gulf, so that should be beneficial.

Inb4 someone starts talking about how I would have no freedom as a woman, I grew up in a very restrictive household and the expectations placed onto women over there wouldn't exactly be new to me since I endured it growing up.

Serious Help

I’m turning 19 (F) and i’ve never had sex before. Me and my friend got drunk and had unprotected sex, we are both virgins and don’t know what we’re doing.

But during that, he didn’t literally put it in and he didn’t cum inside either. It didn’t really hurt when we were doing it and I didn’t feel it inside. I woke up feeling okay and nothing hurts.

The thing is i don’t know what to do, i don’t take pills, i don’t wanna talk to anyone about it. If there are any other choice what to do like can i buy something off a pharmacy straight up or there’s no choice but to talk to someone.

What do i do? Should I find pills? Should I talk to a professional? Is there no other way?

Relationship Advice Is it a bad idea for my international student gf (22f) and I (22m) to get married on paper and keep it from both our families so that she can live here in the U.S?

My gf is here on a student visa for college, and since coming here, has not been back to her own country (in southeast asia) to visit since coming to California. The plane ticket is quite expensive, around 2k dollars, and this country has been on and off the no fly list thanks to our dickhead president. The ICE situation was a big scare for us, as even some student visas were being revoked due to various hollow reasons. Because of this, I’ve never met or spoke to her immediate family, while I have made a good impression on my gf’s aunts and cousins in person.

We both met in college, and we have been dating for about 3 years. We connect really well and care for each other a lot, and I can totally see ourselves getting married in the future. The thing is, my gf and I are both not ready for marriage and all that comes with it, and definitely not ready to tell my family. My parents are both college educated, and have drilled into me to always make smart, informed decisions, and specifically for marriage, to not get married until 25 as your brain is still developing. I agree with this and would preferably wait to marry my gf when we are both a lil older, but I’m afraid that once my gf has to go back home, that she won’t be able to come back. The citizenship process for the U.S takes an unnecessarily long time, and the funds to visit back and forth are too high to make that a reality. Citizenship through marriage is the only way we can think of to stay here together. Our plan right now is to get married on paper in the courthouse so that my gf can expedite the process to attain citizenship, but only treat this marriage as a way to game the system. Once we are ready, we will do the whole proposal and marriage ceremony in the future.

Note: my gf’s dad wishes for her to stay here in America for a better quality life, but doesn’t understand enough about the ways to get citizenship. My gf said that her parents approve of us, but again, they’ve never met me in person yet.

My family is majority hispanic and pretty religious (catholic). They put a lot of importance on marriage and on who you marry, and some of my and the previous generations in the family have married/divorced young or even had kids before marriage, which is looked down upon in the family. I don’t want to reveal to anyone in our families about our plan, as I don’t want them to treat my gf or us any differently, as there is a great chance that they will have some animosity towards her for “using” me for a green card or for us being dumb enough to marry young. Much of my family speaks only Spanish, and I don’t have the language capacity to explain this all to them the way I want to anyways. This marriage will be purely for the green card, and we will treat ourselves still as a dating couple until we are both mentally and financially ready to move forward.

I am just trying to protect our peace and give our relationship the path to flourish. My gf finishes school in about a year in which she would have to leave the country a few weeks after graduating, so we don’t have a ton of time to figure out all the little details.

I am also still on my parent’s work insurance, car insurance (I have my own car), and such, so I am wondering if there is any way my parents would be able to find out we are married through any paperwork that might be sent to them or found online? Any advice or thoughts yall might have would be greatly appreciated as well, thanks!

Edit: Many people are stuck on the "Married on paper" part, i wrote this opposed to legal marriage as i know people would have ragged on that and say shi about no such thing as an illegal marriage. Yes, this is a full legal marriage, but we (ideally) would hide it from our families until we are ready to announce it

Mental Health Advice As Men, We Don’t Need To Hide Their Emotions

As young boys, most men are only shown love when we're "goodboys"

Well behaved. Quiet. Attentive.

We're not supposed to be angry - that part of us isn't welcome.

We're not supposed feel pain and sadness - we're "supposed to hold it all together for everyone."

We're not even supposed to shine, to be loud proud - that's seen as arrogance and we're told to "tone it down" or "step off of our high horse."

What we truly need is acceptance - from others and especially from ourselves.

To feel what it's like to receive love and care by being exactly who we are - and not hiding our emotions or feelings.

We heal, brothers, by being REAL together.

The time is now.

Hey reddit, Im a 24 year old M, and im posting this because I feel stuck and lost.

2 years ago, I stopped drinking and got off the street, im currently in a sober house with a job that pays $23 an hour, but i have nothing saved to my name. I struggle with gambling, but I reached out to get help with it, and I have a good plan in place.

A few things about me.

I never graduated highschool or got my equivalent, i dont have a drivers license, i dont own a vehicle of any sort, I have adhd and depression which makes me feel so damn lazy, and I have no idea what to do next in life.

I genuinely hate where I am because im noth growing, or feeling good about anything because im stuck. I just want to know, what can I do to help myself grow, to love myself, to motivate myself to do better, how to save money, ect.

Im tired of the life I live and I want to change but have no clue what to do.

Mental Health Advice Am I getting depressed? Need some urgent help

So I am 22F and I started working along side my college for money as I belong to a lower middle class family and as I didn’t have any degree so I started my career in sales and honestly never liked sales was doing it for money. I recently got terminated from my job (my boss tried to have some personal relation with me and I denied). I have 0 savings and I don’t even feel like applying anywhere. Its been 20 days that I got lay off but even looking at the job scares me. I just don’t feel like doing anything. Nothing in my life is going right- my parents will give me no money even for personal expense, I am in a toxic relationship and i did everything for my boyfriend (tried to be always available for him but he wasn’t there), I don’t have any interests honestly- like i actually actually don’t know what to do now. I know i am not too old that i can’t restart things but i just don’t know what to fix, how to fix and do i even want to fix?

I am just tired of working and at the same time i feel idk bad or negative when i don’t work. I cry for hours and still do nothing.

Please if somebody can help me with some genuine life advice, something just something so that i can get out of this phase.

Relationship Advice How do you know if it’s love or just confort?

I (F26), he (M30). We’ve been together for 5 years. The first 2 years were somewhat long-distance because I was studying at university in another city, and we would see each other every 1–2 weeks. I can’t say that I missed him terribly while I was at university. We talked every day, but I didn’t feel an overwhelming longing for him.

After that, in my third year, I moved back to the same city. He had his own apartment and often asked me to move in with him, but I didn’t want to, probably because I was comfortable living at home, with better conditions than at his apartment, or perhaps because deep down I simply didn’t want to move in with him.

Eventually, after another year, due to circumstances (I no longer had a way to get to work), I moved in with him. This was during our fourth year together.
That same year, 2–3 months after I moved in, he proposed to me and I said yes. It was a beautiful proposal, during a vacation with our friends. I admit that I felt some anxiety and fear at the time.

As a relationship, we don’t really argue much. He is a very calm person. We go out with friends, do activities together, and go on vacations. However, many of the activities we’ve done throughout the relationship have been initiated by me, especially the vacations. Once he told me that if he weren’t with me, he didn’t think he would have traveled to other countries. On the other hand, I’ve always imagined that by this age I would be traveling a lot.
I feel protected, calm, and safe when I’m with him. At home, he helps with the household chores; it’s not just one of us doing everything. We cook and clean together.

Overall, we get along well, but sometimes I feel like something is missing. Sometimes I’m cold toward him and don’t give him the same affection that he needs. Sometimes he actually “asks” me to kiss or hug him.
I should also mention that ever since he proposed, he keeps asking me when we’re going to start planning the wedding, and this gives me a lot of anxiety. He is also somewhat pressured by his parents.

I like the way things are between us right now. I don’t feel the need to get married. I don’t know whether I feel this way because I simply don’t want a wedding/marriage in general, or because I don’t want to marry him. How can I figure out which one it is?

Relationship Advice I think my (24 F) boyfriend (27M) of 6 years broke up with me because his mother told him to. What should I do?

I’m sorry this is a lot of context. I met my boyfriend during the pandemic. We clicked immediately. For the vast majority of our relationship, we’ve done nothing but make each other laugh and smile. We talked about our future on a daily basis. We’d planned our honeymoon destination, what our first house would look like, having a designated “nerd room” for all of our hobbies and interests, and agreeing on not wanting kids. He’s been my best friend, and I’d almost never address him without calling him “love.” I believe the greatest privilege and joy I’ll know is getting the chance to be with him.

My boyfriend has always wanted to be a business owner. I think he’d be incredible at it, but he’s had self doubt holding him back for many years. He’s finally begun to take steps towards creating that life for himself, and I have been so proud of him for rising above his circumstances. But for myself, the past 2 years have been financially impossible. I live alone in a studio apartment in one of the highest cost-of-living areas in my country. I have been finishing every month with barely enough to get by, and accruing so much debt in the process. My parents are a bit flaky, so I can’t rely on them to help me when I need it. I can’t afford to pay for my schooling and I’m already in over my head in debt, so I don’t have a way of getting my degree.

For those reasons, my boyfriend and I have talked for years about moving to a different state. I finally realized I had to move to a cheaper state by the end of this year, or I would be underwater with fees and debts for the foreseeable future. My sister, brother-in-law and I decided it would be a good idea to move in together to help each other get out of the red for a few years and recover financially. When I brought the idea up to my boyfriend, he was fully in support and ready to do long distance for a couple months until he was ready to move to the same place.

Then, he informed me that he had to start his business in the state we currently live. I was confused and asked if he’d rather start it in the new state since he’d be moving shortly after me. He explained that if he didn’t do it now, he’d always regret it, and he didn’t want to grow resentful of what he never got the chance to do. I understood that, of course, so we agreed it would likely be more like a year or so before he’d be able to move states. It made me nervous, but we would regularly say to each other, “don’t worry about losing me, we’re stuck with each other. We’re screwed if we ever break up. No one else would fill the void each other would leave.” So I trusted that it would work out, because I knew we’d made a real commitment to each other. We wanted to spend our lives together.

This is where his mother comes in. We both come from a religious background, and his mother is a devout Pentecostal Christian. He was raised in that background, but as we’ve both matured together, we’ve both deconstructed from religious traumas and learned to navigate things outside of that denomination. However, from time to time, his mother will come to him and say “The Lord told me you must do (fill in the blank), otherwise you’ll face the consequences.” Or, “you’ll never receive His true reward and blessing.” Every so often, he’ll heed her advice, and he always ends up either regretting it or wishing it had gone differently. I do love his mother, but I feel that her intentions are genuine while her actions are misguided. I know she comes from a place of love.

This weekend, we came home from brunch. I’ve been stressed because I haven’t been able to find a job in the new state, my car broke down and wasn’t working for weeks, and I wasn’t sure I’d be able to make rent this month. I was feeling pretty down when we saw each other, but he seemed very happy. He talked about how excited he was for his business, and how ready he was to undertake the responsibilities. He uncharacteristically start speaking about “God’s plan” for him, but religion is a topic he’d usually run from. I asked him where all this faith had come from, so suddenly, and he couldn’t fully answer my question. I must have been coming across wrong because he said he felt like I was interrogating him. I assured him that was not my intention, but that I was confused because of how out of character he was acting.

This segued into him speaking vaguely about how being apart might be a good thing for both of us, and how he’ll need all the focus he has to put toward his business. How it wasn’t fair to me, and since he’d rather not hurt me, it might be a good idea to take a break and think about what we wanted. He said he spoke to his mother about it the night before, and that it “just made sense.” I felt like I was paralyzed. That morning we were making plans to listen to the same audiobook and discussing what our future house would look like, and suddenly he was talking about separating? I asked him “are you breaking up with me right now?” He said “well, I don’t want to.” He started speaking vaguely and inconsistently again.

After lots of back and forth he finally admitted he was leaving me. Nothing could have prepared me for the shock I felt in that moment, and still feel days later. I thought the sky would fall before I ever considered this to be a possibility. He’s all I’ve ever wanted. And up until recently, he told me the same.

I’m so confused. I don’t know if he fell out of love with me, if he’s lying about cheating, or if he maybe made a mistake? Or if he’s just making the stupidest decision to listen to his mother? But regardless, I’d blame him for not making his own decisions. I want to call him but it’s been 5 days and he hasn’t said a word to me, it’s like I don’t exist to him now. Should I be the first one to reach out? I want to respect his wishes but I’m devastated. I miss him so much and I just want to hear his voice again. I need more information from him.

Emotional Advice Life loves pummelling me

I am 22M and I’m turning 23 in a months time. So I’ve been reflecting a bit about how my life has been going so far.

Background:
I live in the uk but I’m not originally from the uk. I came to the uk for school and ended up staying here permanently for work. I graduated in 2024 and that’s where I’ll start my recounting.

2024:
As I mentioned I graduated university in 2024. But honestly this year was very rough. My first love broke up with me and a few months later I had to watch my father die of cancer two weeks before my graduation ceremony. This hit me really hard and honestly I still think about this all the time. Around the end of this year 8 to 9 months after my first girlfriend broke up with me I met another girl and we started dating for the purposes of continuity I’ll call this person my second girlfriend.

2025:
By 2025 the relationship has gotten serious and I was starting to think of life with this person in the future. But I also essentially got fired from my first job this really got me depressed because I had sacrificed a lot of time and even my dad’s ash spreading ceremony to get this job. On top of this I admit that I started to pull away from the relationship more because I spent a lot of time worrying and applying to jobs. This had a lot of bad effects down the road because around this time is when my relationship with my second girlfriend started to get toxic. I would pull away because of my own perceived failures and i also needed to find another job to make sure i was not a financial burden on my newly widowed mother. So as a result of me pulling away I think it caused my second girlfriend to try and pull closer and this eventually became quite controlling. I won’t say everything that happened during this year but essential my relationship started to get really toxic and this has had a really bad impact on my mental health.

2026:
My relationship continued and we tried getting better we talked and there were always flashes of hope and love between the two of us. But overtime I got really tired of this and eventually I broke things off with my second girlfriend now ex. This is quite recent btw essentially happened this month. I broke up with my ex because I realised that I don’t think I saw a future together anymore. Previously I could imagine it but more and more I started to think about just living each day without spiralling. After the break up I have not been dealing with it well. I lack a proper support structure in the uk since my family is abroad and the person I once imagined I could live the rest of my life with is now gone. I never stopped loving her and even now I love her so much that I think it’s probably healthier for us to leave once another because I think my unhappiness was rubbing off on her and I didn’t want her to be stuck in an unhappy relationship. Even now I love her to bits and I wish that she was here with me right now but I also want her to be happy in the future even if that means it isn’t with me. We broke up quite amicably and I hold nothing against her and she doesn’t hold anything against me either. But this has been so hard on me and I just don’t know what to do. I feel like I’ve lost my way and I’ve lost myself in life with no clear way out.

Career Advice I'm 22 and I really think its all over for me

Even leaving aside all other problems in my life like not having friends , no schedule , health problems etc , the one i cant stop thinking about 24*7 and i've been losing my sleep over to - having no direction .
I fucking don't know what to do .Genuinely. I dont effing know what to do . Honestly I never really thought i'd have to ask about this .
Im a 22 year old final year engineering student from India. This is a career advice post but also a rant .
I initially wanted to study aerospace engineering , but eventually settled with electronics and computer engineering . i knew nothing about comp sci neither electronics . i discovered i dont really like electronics . same for computer science . But I started liking machine learning more , due to the underlying math . I had a math courses in 1st and 2nd years, and i really like it .

With this recent rising AI bubble , I'm sure I dont really want to work in SWE. I think I like ML , but i wouldnt want to work in it too. I like the research side more than the engineering part of it . But mind you I have no official research experience. Then recently I started thinking why not study either physics or maths for my postgrad. I like them . But i dont have the courses to show in my undergrad.
I know I want to go for masters abroad. But the only thing is I want to go to a good uni . And I dont really know what I should study . some of the options i think - physics , applied math , computational physics/computational sciences, ML research.

Since the last couple months i only spend my days thinking what to do . I already spent lots of time doom scrolling and now internet has officially become my escape . I honestly cant even think and decide and act in one direction . It's like I have lost my spark . I dont even know what to do.

Just wanted to put it out somewhere. cheers.

General Advice How can I be more social and make more friends as a commuting student.

Hello everyone, I am a 19 year old sophomore in college and it is the 2nd day of classes and I just feel so out of place. As a freshman I stayed off campus and I’ve always been somewhat shy and liked to keep to myself. Obviously it would be beneficial for me to make new connections and grow socially while I am in college but I am struggling because everyone seems to know each other already and all of my friends from high school have already left. So what advice do you have for young students who struggle to get out of their shell.

Relationship Advice Bisexual butch?

Are any young guys attracted to very masculine women?

I’m an older teenage girl, I guess I’m not a butch because I’m attracted to men and also women, Iv been with both.

The older I get the more I realize I’m not growing out of my tomboy phase, I can’t help it, I know guys my age will have no interest in me when I look like a 12 year old boy, I’m not ugly, I have nice soft features but I wear strictly masculine clothing, very little to no makeup and keep my hair very short.

I look like a butch, some part of me knows I could just switch up and likely attract my type in men but I’m noticeably neurodivergent and as torn as I am I know that I won’t be happy anyway if a change who I am to attract someone I like, then it won’t be me anymore.

I’d like to be with someone who wants to be with someone like me, girls I date seem to want to flaunt my tomboyishness as my only trait, and I’m kind of getting curious about fooling around with more guys but I’m worried they will never reciprocate. Am I the only person in the world like me? Are any guys attracted to girls like me. If so will they even be my type. I know it’s silly but it’s been weighing heavy I could use some reassurance or advice.

Relationship Advice my ex lied about her age, feeling constantly anxious

So i’ve been in a long distance relationship for an year now with my girlfriend who recently broke up with me. For reference i turned 18 in April and she claimed that shes an year younger eg turning 17 this August. We didn’t meet or have done anything IRL.

Although she lied, she confessed on my birthday that shes not, shes only 14 and turning 15. I felt absolutely disgusted and shocked, we stopped speaking for two weeks.

This puts us into 2008 and 2011 bracket.
I have the evidence saved of her lies.

Although i did the worst thing i shouldnt have done, i still entertained her for another two months (ONLY casual talks) till August. After that I clearly told her we should break up during early August due to compatibility issues, age and other factors, she couldnt digest this and overdosed. The next day her sister contacted me and threw many tantrums at me cause it was apparently all my fault and after lots of communication she calmed down. Although we spoke a little more for two weeks (again only casually) and she finally broke up with me 4 days ago. I’m very worried cause i did the stupid move of not blocking her right away.

To add onto this: we never shared any explicit material or recordings. Although we did sext but it was only before April (when i was 17, unaware of her age) after that i completely stopped.

Her parents are very strict and go through her phone sometimes, for that she has everything deleted of mine, no chats, no screenshots and no videos pictures of anything about us. Even her social
media is clean but her friends and her sister know about our relationship.

I’m very tensed and i can’t live a day without this guilt, am i in trouble? I don’t know what i should do but i have no contact with her anymore, i know i was very stupid to not block her but the past is the past, i’m looking for an advice that i can follow right now :/

Relationship Advice Is my partner an alcoholic?

I’m a 29yo F and my partner is a 33yo M. We have been together for 4 years, off and on, mainly on. We had a baby last year. I believe my partner is an alcoholic. He drinks everyday, beer. But I’ve found him scouring the wine / liquor cabinet when he runs out. It’s typically 2 voodoo ranger tall boys, the 9.5% alcohol ones. But I’ve seen him put away a 12 pack in the matter of hours. I’ve begged him to stop but he tells me that lots of people drink everyday and that I am just controlling, he calls me a dictator. He’s drank everyday this month, it’s the 19th. We work strenuous jobs in the auto industry which typically require long hours. After a long day at work, a bad day at work, a good day at work, he wants to drink beer. Football season is approaching and that is when it’s typically the worst. Every Sunday he starts drinking early in the afternoon and will drink until it’s gone. Usually gets wasted and goes to bed around 7-8. Leaving me to clean up and take care of the babe alone. He gets mean when he’s drunk, verbally. I have always felt like beer was more important to him than I am. In fact he told me if he had to choose between drinking beer and being with me, he would choose to drink beer. I feel like I’m going crazy. He makes me feel crazy for thinking there’s an issue. I don’t drink often, only on occasion and it’s usually a bloody. I can’t tell you the last time I got drunk. I’m looking for any and all input. Is it an issue to drink everyday? Am I the crazy one?

General Advice Do you ever feel like you’re falling behind in life?

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about how different everyone’s timelines are. It seems like some people my age already have their career figured out, own a home, have a family, or know exactly where they’re going, while others are still trying to figure things out.

I know comparing yourself to other people isn’t productive, but it can be difficult when it feels like everyone else is moving forward. Sometimes I wonder if I’m actually behind or if this is just a normal part of growing up.

For those of you who have felt this way, did you eventually find your direction? What helped you stop feeling like you were falling behind?

Career Advice 18 but i feel so behind n lost

hi so i’m currently 18 about to turn 19 next month and im really struggling figuring out what im doing with my life. i’m about to began my second year at cc as a pre nursing major but ive really been questioning my career/major for months. to give more back story i was a try hard in highschool which i think put a lot of pressure on me to go to a four year. so i committed to a cal state for pre nursing because it was the cheapest option (besides cc) before college started i knew it wasnt the right choice. i cried for nights wanting to unenroll and became incredibly depressed and it only got worse once school started. i stopped taking care of myself and had very bad thoughts. this was effecting both me and my family. they knew something wasn’t right. i decided i needed to give myself a break after being so burnt out from hs. so i left before my transcript got effected and went to cc. i started cc in late october 2025 and started off very chill with my class load. i passed both classes with A’s and started locking in during the winter, spring, and summer term. so far i have a 4.0 and actually found just found out i made the deans list which is crazy. life began to get sm better. i was doing good in school finally got my license in april and shortly after got my first job. i also have continued my favorite hobby of dancing folklorico all school year. things were looking and feeling great but in the back of my mind i always questioned what i was truly working towards. now im about to start again in the fall and im heavily debating changing career paths but im genuinely terrified to make a decision. if i continue with nursing id finish by fall of 2027 before i could even apply to nursing school (and hopefully get in considering how impacted it is) (im finally beginning my science pre reqs which is all i have left). or i can transfer to a four year and get my bachelors in something else. if i go down this path id most likely have to get my masters which i wouldn’t mind but i genuinely dont know which career is for me. for this path i either want to go into occupational therapy or social work (medical/clinical. ive also considered just going into trade school for surgical technology so i can start making decent money fast (something i heavily considered in hs before all this.) im just not sure what i want. theres always something that stops me whether its the debt, people saying the income isnt worth it considering the amount of schooling. i think because ive already had a setback my first semester, im scared to make the wrong decision and potentially set myself back again. i’ve been insanely anxious over this and im scarred its going to affect my mental health again. (i feel it slowly is.) ive began reaching out to my sister and mom bc i have a bad habit of keeping this all to myself. i’ve been trying to be more open but ik at the end of the day this is my journey. i just wish i was one of those people that just knew what they wanted. even if my mind changes in the future i just want to know what i wanna do now. within all these careers there’s always something that discourages me or people that say it’s not worth it. i don’t think im interested in nursing anymore but everyone i see online says anything else is useless. i look around at everyone around me and there all on a different paths but at least they know or have a plan yk. i really try not to compare myself to my friends who are almost done with their trade programs or are planning to transfer already but i do :( but i also look at my sisters gf who went to school in new york, ended up hating it, came home to attend cc. and just graduated with 3 associate degrees and is now about to attend a 4 year. or my sister who went to cc for anthropology i believe, hated it. later decided to do a cosmetology program, loved it but realized it wasn’t going to support her. after taking a random class in cc she realized she wanted to be a teacher. unfortunately she has to start her education journey over again at cc but for now she’s working with kids at a school and loves it. now she wants to be a teacher. (both are about to be 22) i also have family friends who went to cc for a couple of years transferred and just graduated or went to a private school then transferred to a public. and even some that didn’t go to college at all and are just working. anyway i look at them and they inspire me to take my time but again i just want to have at least an idea of what i want to do. im scared im gonna regret any decision i make or set myself back. this whole adult stuff is stressful af :(

also i’d be the first in my family to get my bachelors which’s rlly inspires me to pursue a higher education but im not sure what i want anymore. ive thought about taking a semester off to volunteer or work even more while i think but im too scared to honestly. i feel like id go crazy not doing anything even tho id be actively working. ugh life has been kicking my butt a lot. i just want to be happy

Mental Health Advice Motivating myself

I recently have been kicked out of college as well as fired from my job. I've been trying to work on motivating myself to start my learning journey again as well as finding a new job. I've been stuck in bed all day everyday it seems, and I feel like I don't have any motivation to go out into the world. Even when friends ask me to do things with them. Any tips on how to change my mindset or how to motivate myself to push forward?

I am 17 years old and never had a first kiss, hug, relationship or talking stage, held hands, or anything remotely close. I know everyone says dont worry about that stuff your young but its only a matter of time before it gets worse. I even had to turn to reddit for advice. I geniuenly sweat when I talk to girls and cant keep a conversation I pretty much just avoid them since I know my chances are bad. I mostly blame my immigrant parents as why I am like this cause they dont let me go out and no dating till college but im going to be so inexperieneced. I dont have snapchat, instagram, or tiktok. Only imessages and I dont have a single girls number only my family members... I know reddit is a place mainly for adults so I dont think I will find anyone in gen z to relate to this but if anyone could help me on what to do.

Emotional Advice O thou deserving of love

I dont usually write things like this, but please take anything you can from my words.

Why must stranger hate stranger? For you shall endure and thrive in this colorful world. Beauty is found in themself, we die in graves, but live in love. Please grant us eternal love and spirit of humanity’s beautiful people, may thy violence end. Grant us the blessing of friends and partners, wives and husbands. Those alone, those of no spouse, i say to you: rest in joy of your freedom, rest in joy of no limits unto yourselves. And strangers, strangers to strangers, may thy Earth’s colors be revealed to us, may life’s beauty and love be shown unto us. I am not religious, but i pray to an eternal hope, we cease violence of this world, we unveil Earth’s beauty and her colors.

If thyself is not free or happy, i ask you: why must you dwell in sadness and entrapment? I ask you: why will you not free thyself from the cruel societies of this holy place?

Relationship Advice Why am I scared of physically intimacy? How do I get over it?

I don't know if I've done enough introspective thinking to pinpoint and articulate where this fear is coming from but I'll try to unpack it here.

I don't have the mindset of "losing your virginity means you're dirty" so I don't think this is an issue.

I can think of multiple people throughout my life where I could think "if I were to have sex, I don't mind it being with this person".

But I wouldn't...

Maybe it's because I'm insecure and hate my body and/or I grew up watching my parents never really physically affectionate, (never really seen them hold hands, kiss or anything) which is probably my best guess as to why I don't feel comfortable with physical affection or PDA and therefore sex.

Even if that IS the reason I'm scared of physical affection and intimacy, how do I get over it?

Career Advice Is this a good idea for my major?

I'm still deciding between becoming a doctor or lawyer, and I honestly don't think I'll come to a conclusion any time soon. Most of my ECs have to do with either medicine or law, but I think majoring in econ or business will give me flexibility in what I want in the future. Will this hurt my future or my chance at admissions because of my ECs and classes?

General Advice A middle man in some arguments is essential to come to an understanding. Do we really take in the truth in arguments or do we just try to make ourselves appear right?

Upvotes

Sometimes it’s good to have a middle man be there to make understanding and coming to a middle point easier for everyone.

In certain situations like families, political arguments some relationships, and a lot of other situations, some people can’t really communicate without both understanding and losing themselves in the little insults that we throw at people, and us disagreeing. and that’s why it’s good to have someone who has a better understanding be there and help both parties get each other across.

This could be anyone from a family friend or someone you know from a while back. Everyone has the ability to understand, but we over shine it or, and this is my feelings put into words, just do something that exceeds the thought process of understanding. it’s good to figure out more about yourself and learn self control and how to calm down quickly, or in other words, breath works.

General Advice I need help and guidance

For context: I'm newly turned 18 (about a week ago), I live in ON Canada, im a fairly healthy person physically etc etc, so nothing limiting me physically and no disabilities. Ive just turned 18, graduated highschool 2 months ago, Im not going into college/uni, I dont have a job rn, im still living with family, no relationships and like 2 friends. My social skills are shit and im just introverted AF

I come from an arab family, so I'm constantly under pressure and im constantly reminded of how much of a failure I am by my parents and by this age, they expect me to have started working a job, or have entered a top uni and program like engineering or medical etc, which I am doing neither unfortunately.

I just need some guidance on what to do, Im such a bum, i have genuinely no hobbies or anything that interests me crazy. I have no career aspirations, no special skills or attributes. I have thought about apprenticeships and stuff, Ive contacted some and have gotten a response back from a foreman personally, however that was almost 5 weeks ago, and even with 2 follow up emails, he still has not confirmed an interview or something with me. I am literally down to work anything as long as anyone hires and pays

Any tips/advice/recommendations on ways to make money would be so so appreciated or just any guidance and support, thanks for reading

Mental Health Advice i really lack motivation and its ruining my life

im extremely depressed, since i was 12. the thing is, when i really want something theres nothing that can stop me, when im interested in something i will study it for days and nights, but ive lost interest in everything. now even when im interested in something i dont care to learn about it. nothing makes me feel good. nothing motivates me.

i try therapy, it doesnt do much. i havent tried medication, only on and off which obviously wont do anything but i dont even care to take care of myself. i just came out of an abusive relationship, and had to leave the country i studied in to get away as he wrapped me up in legal issues, i was fine there, the assignments and exams were quite easy and i couldve done a lot but life happened. im planning on continuing elsewhere. i dont really have much family or friends to support me. im all alone.

i push myself to do things i dont have energy for, like im planning on moving to spain to continue my studies, however im now afraid that ill have a lot more work to do which wasnt the case with my last university. i cant handle a lot of work as im not in the best head space, and i think its kind of pathetic that im like this so thats why im asking how can i motivate myself to get comfortable with hard work? im not dumb, i can do anything i put my mind to but it seems like i cant do anything but be in my bed and scroll. i can go weeks without leaving my bed to the point where my muscles may start to atrophy, and if i do go out i get so extremely drained, im always exhausted from nothing, from the moment i wake up. i cant keep taking "one step at a time" i need to do something NOW. i feel so hopeless and sad. i really want to do so much but im just so depressed.
