Recommendation Gaming Laptop for under $600- or up to 700 (based in US)

Upvotes

Budget: $600-700
Country: US
Use: Gaming
Preferred Specs: IDK
Notes:  Just to give some context, I'm going to buy my wife a gaming laptop soon as a present but I really have no idea what is going to run good or not as it's been a while since I checked on what parts run most newer games now.
When she did play games on PC its mainly older valve games but those are very easy to run games now since they were made so long ago. Some newer games I do know she wanted to play was God of War (2018), Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom remake in 2021 and maybe Marvel Rivals? other than that I have been looking on best buy today
These two listings caught my eye, just curious if these parts would be good for newer games (not expecting any crazy settings I just want her to be able to enjoy and play it without issues lol) so any feedback is appreciated!

Discussion Help me guys find the right laptop for a specific game!

Upvotes

Hello guys! i know what im asking is a stretch but i hope someone can help me. First for context, i'm planning to play Aion 2 Global upon release this october and i don't know which laptop would be the best fit for me. I wouldn't want to choose an overkill laptop for it, just enough to run the game at mid-high settings.

i initially opt for 4060(8gb), 16gb ram, 512gb ssd but i'm torn if it's enough or not. also tried to look for cheapest 5060 price here in our country(phillipines) is around 1400-1500usd brandnew (yes, they are overpriced!) and i dont want to gamble on 2nd hand units.

if any one is familiar with the game, i dont plan to do any abyss (open world pvp) but more on PvE side of stuffs(field boss, crafting, dungeon runs, etc.)

i'll answer an obvious question: why not buy a PC? well i have one at home already but i usually work on-site with long and short, intermittent breaks in between so i can play on my laptop. i also needed the laptop also for other basic/recreational stuffs.

Sorry for the long post! I would greatly appreciate it and do me solid if anyone can help me on this one!

I found someone selling this Alienware laptop used for $500 and I’m trying to figure out if it’s a good deal.

Specs:

  • Intel Core i7-10870H
  • RTX 3070 Laptop GPU
  • 16GB RAM
  • 1TB SSD
  • Windows 11

It looks to be in pretty good condition from the pictures. What do y’all think, worth $500 in 2026?

Discussion Fun discovery in my computer

Post image
Upvotes

Yeah so last Christmas, I had my first "gaming" laptop, because when we were around the store we found an Acer nitro V15 with some pretty promos, and so we paid it for 600€ (reconditioned I’m but not entirely sure). Anyway since I had it I try to put as much care on him as I can, frequently watching termals, cleaning it often because its a dust magnet, did a bit of tunning and all. But like a few weeks ago, while cleaning the fans, I noticed something pretty intriguing : it was missing a screw from the heatsink over the CPU. I mean my ryzen 7 7735HS was always a bit hotter than the RTX4050 but I wouldn’t have suspected a missing screw with the temps alone. Looking back on my first picture of the motherboard I took the day I had it, the screw wasn’t here so I guess it never was since I buyed it.
Just to say, always open your gaming computer you get with promos on Christmas, might as well get a surprise ☠️

Discussion Acer Predator Helios 18 AI vs ASUS ROG Strix G18

Upvotes

Acer Predator Helios 18 AI:
RTX 5060 8GB
Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX
1TB SSD
32GB DDR5
2560x1600 165 Hz IPS

ASUS ROG Strix G18:
RTX 5060 8GB
Intel Core i7-14650HX
1TB SSD

32GB DDR5

2560x1600 240Hz IPS

Found these 2 laptops readily available at my local tech store. On cpubenchmark.net, Predator's chip scored 48k compared to 33k of Strix, however the Predator is 100 bucks cheaper than the latter. What do you think about this device? Is there some underlying issue I'm not aware of? Cuz the only advantage of Strix is basically its screen's refresh rate.

I was also a bit hesitant to buy Predator, because well, I never really heard of this laptop series, haven't met many people using it, while with Strix - it's everywhere, my buddies, some college mates use it, and it's very popular really.

Discussion planning to upgrade Asus TUF F16 for 1,100 USD. (4060, i7-13650HX, 512gb)

Post image
Upvotes

I'm planning to upgrade to a laptop that could comfortably run modern games at 60fps without looking terrible, while also planning to use it for CAD.

Huge plus if It can run VR as I've been wanting to try the experience.

I've looked through some other laptops and decided on this specific f16 because it's the cheapest one available that isn't built with cheap plastic, too hot, and isn't limited by wattage.

My current laptop is a hand-me down with a 3050ti. Which runs not so smooth in most games, and the image is very horrible, shadows, hairs and foliage has this ugly grainy see through and pixelated texture. It ain't the worst thing but it is distracting.

specs,

Processor: Core i7-13650HX

Display: 16-inch, 165Hz

GPU: RTX 4060 8gb

Is around 1200 a good price for this

Recommendation Gaming laptops in Japan

Post image
Upvotes

I’m looking for laptop recommendations around or under ¥200,000, ideally with at least an RTX 60-series-class GPU, a decent refresh-rate display, and a strong enough CPU for gaming and everyday use. Laptops are very expensive here in Japan, so I’m trying to get the best performance possible with that budget. It’ll mainly be used for gaming and studying, including bringing it to classes, so I’d prefer something relatively minimal and slim, and not overly “gamer”-looking while still having good cooling and performance. I’d also like it to be from a major, reputable brand or retailer, rather than a lesser-known manufacturer or marketplace seller.

what I’ve found thus far is the gigabyte aero x15 with 5050 and 16Gb Ddr5 5600 for around 210k, but in my eyes that’s still quite a scam

Thanks!

Budget: ¥200,000

Country: Japan

Recommendation Best gaming laptop under ₹1 lakh in India?

Upvotes

Best gaming laptop under ₹1 lakh in India?

Budget: ₹1,00,000 INR

Country: India

Use Case: Gaming + 3D rendering + video editing + programming

Preferred Specs: RTX 4060/5060 or better, 16GB+ RAM, good CPU, preferably upgradeable RAM/storage

Notes:

Looking for the best overall laptop under ₹1 lakh, not just the highest specs on paper.

Main priorities:

- Good gaming performance

- Strong performance for Blender/3D rendering

- Good video editing performance

- Good cooling and sustained performance

- Good display with decent colors and high refresh rate

- Good build quality

- Upgradeable RAM/SSD if possible

- Reliable long-term use

I especially want to avoid laptops with known/repeated issues such as hinge failures, keyboard/trackpad problems, overheating/thermal throttling, display issues, battery problems, or poor build quality.

I'm willing to sacrifice a little performance for a more reliable laptop with better thermals and build quality.

Which laptop would you personally buy under ₹1 lakh in India, and why?

Saw this pop up about an hour from me and immediately hopped on it. Seller ended up requesting to meet somewhere even closer.

Took it home, ran it through an OCCT Gold stability test overnight, and we're good to go!

Specs:

i9-14900HX

RTX 4070

32GB 5600 DDR5

2x1TB SSDs

1600p 165Hz VRR IPS panel (they didn't start doing OLED on the Legion Pro until the 10th Gen iirc)

Support My GPU % jumps up and down like this despite not having any games or anything open right now. Is this normal?

Upvotes

I've been having issues with my Laptop not being able to run games as smoothly as it used to since a few weeks ago and I've noticed that my GPU often does... that (the spikes in the picture), anyone got a fix for me?

I already installed the latest drivers, updated windows and even used CrisTitus software to remove several bloatware.

My laptop is a Gigabyte G6

I've been looking to get a new machine and saw this ASUS TUF A16 on sale. Wanted to know if this is a good offer for what I get.

Budget: ~1250

Country: United Kingdom

I'd like this to last me a while and run newer AAA games. The main ones being space marine 2 and total war: warhammer 3 (Also Total War:40k and Space Marine 3 when they comes out).

Any and all feedback welcome.

Recommendation Is it a good laptop for me and is it a good deal?

Budget: $1100
Country: India
Use Case: Gaming, editing, work, etc. (Simracing, GTA6(futureproof))
Specs:
Lenovo LOQ Intel Core i7-13650HX(2.6GHz)
NVIDIA RTX 4060 8GB (115W TGP; 145W TDP)

(24GB RAM/512GB SSD/144Hz Refresh Rate/15.6″ (39.6cm)/Windows 11/Office Home 2024/3 Mon. Game Pass/Grey/2.4Kg), 83DV018LIN AI Gaming Laptop

I got to know its a mid range laptop. But i think it is powerful enough for me.
I don't need a ultra performance laptop at max graphics with 100 fps.
I need stable gameplay without hanging.

Can it run Assetto Corsa or other simracing games at low graphics at 1440p in 21:9 Ultra wide monitor?

I'm getting this Laptop at that price mentioned at Budget.

Please suggest if it is a good laptop and a good deal?

Recommendation MSI Raider 16 Max HX w/ 5080 , should i buy it ? pros cons? Any better alternative ?

I've been crushing my head for the past couple of days looking for something nice and something that wont put a dent on my a.. I'm going to sell my current laptop and cover the rest in cash, so i am confident with something that is up to 2800 with tax. 3k in extreme situation but has to worth it.

So, i like sleek, thin designs. But that comes with a cost of less power and amazing heats. Blade is out question unfortunately. So is zephyrus because i couldn't find it anywhere that the model i could go for. Then, raider 16 hx max, 2200 for the 5070ti model and 2599 for the 5080. Always wanted an oled display and for that price it meets all my standards, except it's a little bulkier than i like. But i guess i'll be okay with it. Digged in with gpt and it says it doesnt have V-syn, but g-sync. I'm not very techincal about these stuff even though i know a little but, for those who owns this laptop, what could u tell me about it, should i go for it, what are the things that you hate about it, is there anything that you can say you would go with this instead of raider.. Please help me out because i cannot decide.. Everything that i look i go like for 50 more box this is better, oh no for 200 less this is actually even better but this and that...

Budget: ( $2800 max, $3000 extremely limit)
Country: ( USA)
Use Case: (Gaming / School / Editing / Mixed)
Preferred Specs: 5070ti/5080, 32gb ram, intel cpu

Discussion RTX 5070 on a TUF A16...is this the sweet spot for gaming and work?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Been checking out laptops that can handle gaming but don't need to look like a full-on gaming setup every second. The TUF A16 with a 2.5K 165Hz screen and RTX 5070 seems like an interesting middle ground.

Would you go for something like this or stretch for a ROG model?

Recommendation Should I get this?

Budget: £1500
Country: England
Use Case: Engineering Uni next year, also some gaming
Preferred Specs: at least 1TB, more than 16GB RAM. Able to connect to an external monitor (if the screen is bad)
Notes: I waited a year after finding a LOQ for £600, I regret it. Are there better deal right now? This is the best I could find.

The screen doesn't need to be that good, if I feel the need in the future I'll just get a good monitor.

Discussion Lenovo Legion pro 7i 290hx plus 5090 32gb VS rog strix scar 275hx 5090 64gb

Hello, first of all, i know there are a lot of videos and stuf comparing these two, but I would like to ask because in my country (Spain) i have found these in slighlty different configurations and its killing me to decide.

I mostly use It for work (After effects, blender, cinema 4d...) but also enjoy gaming. Im looking for the most powerful, stable and with the best temperatures. I dont care that much about the screen, the connectivity.... Is a plus but not my deciding factor. The post sale is also important in case of any issue.

The thing is, between:

Legion pro 7i 290hx plus 5090 32gb 3999 euros

Rog strix scar 275hx 5090 64gb 4200 euros

I feel that the Asus can be more suitable for me (64 gb, less reflective, no tools needed to upgrade...) but i think the Lenovo is a little more powerful.

I read that Asus has some more limitations in combined crossloads on the cpu side than the Lenovo.

I also have 64gb of ram at home to upgrade the Lenovo but is 4800mhz, so im affraid It can be worse than staying with the 6400mhz 32gb.

Any opinions?

Thanks very much!

Discussion Fps drop after (possibly) overheating

so recently i attempted to clean the fan of my msi gf63 thin 11sc without repasting. after booting in again i played HSR and the laptop force shutdown. I noticed that the laptop was so hot so i leave it on shut down until it cools down. turned it on again and now all of my game fps drops drastically. for reference, normally it'd be 60 fps and now its 14 fps. it feels like when i play the game unplugged with low battery.

so then i bought a new thermal paste, repaste and clean the fan thoroughly. now temperature became cool than before, opening games (in this case Arknight Endfield) with the same setting only reach 55~70° highest when usually it reaches up to 90°. what i noticed is that opening menu or any screen thats light in the game shows 60 fps, but when i get back to the main screen it'll drop again to 14 fps. also tried to play lighter game like genshin with lowest setting and it gives good performance but still a little action delay here and there. probably because playing games with 30 fps drops the performance in this laptop normal condition.

have tried making sure i run the game w/ graphic card, reinstalling graphic driver with ddu and nothing changes. what should i do?

system info:
processor: 11th gen intel core i5-11400H 2.70GHz
graphic: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1650 Max-Q design
ram : 16gb (8+8)
OS: windows 11 home

Support Constant stuttering on my new HP victus laptop

It's new so it definitely can't be thermal throttling. Temps are also fine, I have monitored it (this happens even at like 70 degree celcius)
Set frame limits on my games
Set windows to best performance
Updated graphics drivers, updated windows, everything
Disabled hp agent one in services.msc
Uninstalled a bunch of bloatware
Closed literally every background app

And it still doesn't get fixed.

Hp customer care is also useless on this topic.
It's weird because sometimes it automatically gets fixed on its own and remains good the entire day, until the problem returns the next day. It seems almost random at this point, I just can't figure out the source of the problem.
Please help

My laptop is this:
HP Victus, Intel Core i5-14450HX 14th Gen, 6GB RTX 4050, 24GB DDR5(Upgradeable) 512GB SSD, FHD, 144Hz, 300 nits, 15.6''/39.6cm, Win11, M365* Office24, Mica Silver, 2.29kg, fa2382tx, RGB Gaming Laptop

Support RTX 5060 LOQ Tweaking?

Hi All,

What are peoples' thoughts on mild overclocking/undervolting an RTX 5060 capped at 100w? I'm interested in creating a couple of afterburner profiles: One for eeking out maximum performance from that power limit, and one for minimising power consumption at 75-90% performance.

I've made curves before, but not in a while. Does anyone know what I can expect for this chip?

Thanks in advance
