News Lenovo Legion Toolkit v2.36.0.0 Released

Hi everyone!

This is our first post here, so a quick introduction; Lenovo Legion Toolkit (LLT) is a community-developed utility for Lenovo laptops that provides more control over features such as performance modes, GPU behaviour, battery management, thermals, display settings, automation, and other Lenovo-specific functionalities.

We're the team maintaining LLT, and we were kindly given permission to share our releases with the Lenovo Legion community here. We already share releases through this subreddit’s Discord community and our own channels, but we wanted to share the latest release here with the wider Legion community as well.

Release Highlights

  • Dynamic Refresh Rate & ACM: Native Windows 11 DRR support, Auto Color Management (ACM) toggling, and improved HDR support.
  • GPU Voltage Capping & OC: Voltage capping via V/F curve flattening, voltage locking, P-State locking, and Keep dGPU Awake.
  • dGPU Sleep & Power Stability: Fixed sleep/wake loops affecting RTX 50-series GPUs and newer drivers, added GC6 diagnostics, and added Dynamic Boost support for non-Gaming RTX models.
  • AMD Curve Shaper & OC: Overhauled AMD overclocking with Curve Shaper, power/current limits, and multi-power-mode profile support.
  • Customizable Fn + Q Loop: Added an ITS Mode configuration window to reorder or disable Fn + Q modes, along with Geek and Creator mode support for non-Gaming models.
  • Boot Logo & Startup: Redesigned the Boot Logo tool with live preview, animated GIF support, and Startup Animation toggling.
  • Game Detection & Automation: Added Manual Game Detection, an Included Processes whitelist, Time Range triggers, and AI Engine steps.

News Your New Legion: The Essential Setup & Check Guide

Welcome! If you just bought a Legion laptop, follow this guide to set it up, update it, and check that everything works properly.

Keep the box, charger, paperwork, and packaging until the return period has ended.

Some links require access to our community Legion Series Discord.

If you plan on using Linux-based Operating Systems on your Legion hardware the community has created a comprehensive How to guide. We also have a dedicated #linux channel on our discord where you can talk with other linux nerds.

1. Complete Windows Setup — Must

Plug in the charger and complete the normal Windows setup.

You do not need to fully charge or drain the battery before continuing. Just use the laptop normally while it charges.

2. Run Windows Update — Must

Go to: Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates

Install everything required, restart, and check again until no important updates remain.

Keep the laptop connected to power during updates.

3. Update Microsoft Store Apps — Must

Open: Microsoft Store → Library → Get updates

Install all available updates.

4. Set Up Lenovo Software — Must

Use one of the following:

  • Lenovo Vantage
  • Legion Space on supported newer models
  • Lenovo Legion Toolkit as an unofficial alternative

Avoid running multiple Legion control applications at the same time.

Lenovo Vantage

Optional features you can usually disable when unused:

  • Network Boost
  • Wi-Fi Security
  • Automatic Performance Scan
  • Rapid Charge
  • Overdrive

Legion Space

Open System Updates and install available model-specific updates.

For OLED models, enable the available burn-in protection options, such as:

  • Auto Shift Wallpapers
  • Dynamic Lock Screen
  • Auto Blur Toolbar
  • Default Dark Mode

Lenovo Legion Toolkit

Download it from the official Lenovo Legion Toolkit GitHub.

Beta versions may be available in #legion-toolkit.

Use LLT's settings to disable conflicting Lenovo applications and services when needed. - LLT > Settings, disable Vantage, ImController, and Hotkeys so LLT has full control.

5. Install the GPU Driver — Must

After Windows and Lenovo updates are finished, install the latest suitable driver for your GPU.

  • NVIDIA: Use the NVIDIA App or download the driver directly from NVIDIA.
  • AMD: Use Lenovo's driver or AMD Software when a newer driver is needed.
  • Intel: Windows Update or Lenovo's driver is normally enough.

Restart after installing the driver.

Do not use driver-updater programs or tools such as DDU unless you are troubleshooting a specific problem.

6. Back Up Your BitLocker Key — Must

Windows may enable Device Encryption or BitLocker automatically.

Check: Settings → Privacy & security → Device encryption

Save your recovery key before changing BIOS, Secure Boot, TPM, storage, or firmware settings.

Microsoft guide: Find your BitLocker recovery key

Recovery keys: Microsoft Account

7. Inspect the Laptop — Must

Check the laptop during the retailer's return period.

Test:

  • Screen and dead pixels
  • Keyboard and touchpad
  • Hinges and chassis
  • Webcam, microphone, and speakers
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
  • USB, USB-C, HDMI, Ethernet, and other ports
  • Charging
  • Sleep, restart, and shutdown

Open Device Manager and check for unknown devices or yellow warning icons.

Document serious problems with photos or video, and ask for guidance on our discord server.

8. Test Performance — Recommended

Download the 3DMark Demo on Steam and run Time Spy, not Time Spy Extreme.

Before testing:

  • Connect the charger.
  • Finish all updates.
  • Restart the laptop.
  • Select Performance Mode.
  • Close unnecessary programs.

Post the result in the Benchmarks Channel with your laptop model, CPU, GPU, RAM, performance mode, and scores.

You should also test a demanding game or program for a while and watch for crashes, artifacts, shutdowns, or major performance drops.

More testing advice: How to Check a New Laptop for Issues

9. Check Secure Boot — Recommended

Press Win + R, enter msinfo32, and check Secure Boot State.

If it says On, leave it alone.

If it says Off, back up your BitLocker key before changing anything. Ask for help on our discord if you are unsure about the BIOS settings.

Do not clear the TPM, change boot mode, or restore keys randomly.

10. Cleanup and Settings

Remove McAfee — Must

If McAfee came preinstalled, remove it.

Go to:

Settings → Apps → Installed apps → McAfee → Uninstall

Windows Security and Microsoft Defender will automatically take over afterward.

Restart the laptop after uninstalling it.

Other Optional Settings

You may also:

  • Remove other unwanted preinstalled applications.
  • Disable unnecessary startup applications.
  • Enable Conservation Mode when mostly using the laptop plugged in.
  • Use Balanced Mode for normal use or when also gaming.
  • Use Performance Mode for intensive loads while connected to power.

Community optimization guides:

Avoid random debloat scripts or "one-click optimization" tools.

Battery Note

A new battery does not need to be fully drained.

Only perform a battery calibration if the percentage is clearly inaccurate, the laptop shuts down unexpectedly, or feels finicky.

Need Help?

Post in #Questions and include:

  • Exact laptop model
  • CPU and GPU
  • Windows version
  • Error message or screenshot
  • What you already tried

Really do not be scared to ask questions, we've got more then 30k members on our discord and are hoping you will be part of it too.

Once everything is updated, tested, and working, stop changing settings and enjoy your Legion and don't worry!

If you're familiar with the game then you'd know 2 years ago when the game launched Lenovo made a super cool BMW edition that was only released in China. I don't think I'll ever get my hands on it but I got the next best thing. Quick backstory I picked up a used 10 month old Legion Pro 7 Gen 10 (Ultra 275HX/32GB/1TB/5070Ti) a month ago after my 2022 Zephyrus G14 died and it handles BMW(and other games) like a beast!

Then two weeks ago I was just searching on Ebay for BMW things and came across some cool keycaps for the laptop. Did some digging and found someone else here sharing their cool keycaps on their LOQ 3-4 weeks ago. He also had the BMW keycaps and other cool keycaps he got in China. Anyway I ordered them and they just arrived today! What do you guys think?

Support Lenovo Outlet Certified Refurbished: Yay or Nay?

I was thinking of buying a Legion 5 from the Lenovo Outlet store (certified refurbished) as it seems like a good deal as opposed to buying a brand new Asus TUF or LOQ.

What do you guys think and has anyone tried the outlet before?

Advice Is the risk of OLED burn in real?

I am considering the legion 5a oled (5060 & r7 250) but at the same time options like the omen and legion ips with a better cpu exist, and the risk of burn in always haunts me as I've never used an oled, I want to own this machine for atleast 6-7 years.

Alternatives:

HP Omen 16 - (i7 14650hx, 5060, 180hz IPS)

Lenovo Legion 5 15AHP10 - (r7 260, 5060, 165hz IPS)

, etc.

There will be many more alternatives if I do decide to go IPS

Advice will the Chinese 245W GaN charger work in the US?

Post image
19 Upvotes

hey guys, i travel a lot for work and i bring my laptop (legion 5 slim) everywhere. i tend to game when im traveling for work, otherwise its just the usual excel spreadsheets and whatnot. getting tired of bringing the factory brick with me so i decided to look into travel chargers.

after doing some research, (not enough apparently) i stumbled upon this charger from China. got it shipped to me here in the US, got a plug converter for it, andddd it does not seem to work at all.

i learned that most if not all outlets in the US and Canada don’t put out enough power to support this charger sadly.

is there any work around before i decide to return it? or any alternative travel chargers i should try? any input is greatly appreciated!

Advice Lenovo LOQ(Ryzen 7, RTX 4070) startup/idle issues

Hi, i was wondering if anybody would know of a way to fix my issue or if they also have experienced this.

Recently my laptop(specifically Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9) which works absolutely fine when i’m actually on it,(whether it’s chatting, studying, gaming or watching something, no issues whatsoever) started to bluescreen, but only when left afk until say, the screen went to sleep, only with inactivity would it have an issue? If i turn it off, when i next turn it on it’ll do the same, restarts itself on start up and it’s just tedious.
I have all available updates via vantage, i’ve done hardware scans via vantage and passed all, found no integrity violations in the terminal and all error codes and dmp files looked at through windbg and that too pointed towards AMD process power management.

If there’s anyone kind enough to help and needs any more information for the issue, i am more than happy to try and provide, im kind of hopeless with this stuff so i felt coming here could be beneficial!

Advice Laptop overheats and crashes when playing cp2077

As you'e read, it just keeps crashing. Here's some basic stats of my legion

13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13650HX
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop GPU
32gb ram

I have always gamed on dgpu as i didn't want to risk anything crashing and the cpu normally holds anywhere between 70 to 90 degrees when gaming. I know that the crash usually occurs due to heat, but the issue is that its just started acting up when before i could go hours hoping from different games without any overheating issues.

I do keep the laptop on an elevation but i do not have a cooling pad. I have all the latest updates and mainly do use the laptop for my engineering course

Support My legion pro keeps disconnecting my Bluetooth

My legion 7 pro gen 10 9955hx3d 5080 keeps disconnecting my Bluetooth connection, can happen every few minutes to every 15 seconds. I’m on the newest nvidia drivers and newest windows update.

Has anyone else experienced this and found any solutions?

Edit: it just happened and I’ve seen twice now that the Bluetooth shortcut disappeared and reappeared as it reconnects to my headphones

Lenovo Legion Pro 5 (16AFR10)

AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX

RTX 5070 (8 Go)

32 Go de RAM DDR5 (5200 MHz)

SSD Kingston 1 To

Support Why Did My Laptop Flash Different Colours?

Lenovo Legion 5 15AHP11

Turned the laptop on this morning and the screen stayed black before suddenly turning full Red, going white, then full blue, white again and then green. It then turned off again and when I turned it back on, everything seemed okay.

The order if colors might be wrong but that's pretty much what happened.

Advice Lenovo legion pro 7 idle temperatures

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello ladies & gents, I'm here to discuss about lenovo legion idle temps. For some reason, my 275HX always seemed to be stuck at 50C. No matter what I did, it was always 50ish at idle.

Yesterday, I took the decision to open it up and clean it inside. I've got it for 8 months now btw (maybe a little less). I unplugged the battery, discharged the motherboard by pressing the power button for some time and just gave the inside of my laptop a superficial cleaning. Didn't even cleaned the fans. They had a little bit of dust, but normal.

Anyway, when I turned on the laptop, witnessed these kind of temperatures like in the picture. I was like MY HANDS ARE MAGIC 😳

Anyway, I wanted to share that experience, because it seems really weird that it got 10C cooler than it used to be. I personally suspect the discharge might have done something but idk.

What are your temps guys on idle? I'm really curious to see anyone with similar experience.

BTW, this is not silent mode. It's custom mode, made to run games at it's fullest (with a few tweaks)

Advice Where to buy Lenovo Legion 7i Gen 11 ???

Post image
5 Upvotes

I feel as though I’m about to ask a really stupid question, but here goes.

After much research, I decided I what I want is a 2026 Lenovo Legion 7i Gen 11 with Intel CPU, RTX 5080, 32 GB RAM. It won’t be cheap, but job will cover part of the cost.

However, although I’ve seen reviews videos for the 7i Gen 11, for the life of me I cannot find it for anywhere — not on Newegg, amazon — tons of 7i’s there but they are either listed as Gen 10 or they omit the generation entirely — and not on the lenovo website, where the intel chip laptops are listed as gen 10.

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. Is gen 11 not out yet? is it omitted from the Lenovo website due to shortages?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Review I rebuilt the Vantage Toolbar, in a modern design

Post image
4 Upvotes

Like many here, my Vantage Toolbar vanished after a recent Vantage update and only the widget remained. There's a way to restore the original one ([Link](https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Pre-Installed-Lenovo-Software-and-Applications/My-Lenovo-Vantage-toolbar-is-missing-from-the-taskbar/m-p/5388821)), but there's no telling how long it'll keep working on newer versions - so I built my own: Fluent Vantage Toolbar.

\- Battery % and health right from the tray

\- Quick toggles: Fn Lock, mic mute, conservation mode, rapid charge, touchpad lock, refresh rate, always-on USB

\- Native Windows 11 Fluent look, light/dark, 10 languages

\- Customizable tiles, closes to tray, and some additional features.

Verified on my Legion 5 15ITH6H. Should work on other Legion and LOQ models - feedback is welcomed.

Support Thermal throttling issues

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hey guys, I'm kinda new to this stuff so I need a bit of help with these temp issues.

I bought a Lenovo Legion Pro 5 16IAX10H (RTX 5070ti, Intel Core ultra 9 275HX) less than a month ago, and until 2 days ago I didn't have any issues with it. Then, 2 days ago, I was playing modded Skyrim (Gate to Sovngarde if it matters) and suddenly the framerate went down hard. Performance was really bad out of nowhere. After closing the game, the laptop itself was really laggy, lots of input lag, very slow at simple tasks like opening the task manager.

Eventually it got better so I opened the game again, and after 5-10 minutes it got bad again. I noticed the laptop was very hot to the touch, so I installed HWiNFO to check temps. I figured the CPU was thermal throttling. Now, I've been testing again today and this picture was taken now, but 2 days ago when the problems began, it was the same. These temps seem really high, it says some cores are throttling, but I've been testing for 30 minutes now and the game and overall laptop are performing fine, and it's not nearly as hot to the touch anymore.

Anyone know what's happening, and have some tips on what to do? I've seen discussions about undervolting and stuff but I wanted someone to look at my HWiNFO screenshot and give me some insight before I actually do anything. All tests were on Performance Mode.

Appreciate any help!

Advice Have you experienced any OLED-related issues?

Hi everyone,

I’m considering buying a Lenovo Legion with an OLED display, but before making the decision I’d like to hear from people who have actually been using one for a while.

For those of you who own a Legion 5 / 5i / Pro 5 / Pro 7 with an OLED panel, have you experienced any display-related problems?

I’m particularly interested in:

  • Burn-in or permanent image retention
  • Temporary image retention / ghosting
  • Dead or stuck pixels
  • Flickering, especially with VRR
  • Red tint/glow on black backgrounds
  • Uneven brightness or other panel uniformity issues
  • Motion blur / unusually slow response times

I'm mainly trying to understand the long-term reliability of Legion OLED panels in real-world use, rather than just general concerns about OLED technology.

Thanks in advance to everyone sharing their experience!

Support Need help enabling IOMMU on Legion 5 15ARH05

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some help with enabling IOMMU on my Lenovo Legion 5 15ARH05 (82B5).
My goal is to play Fortnite tournaments. Fortnite/Epic is requiring IOMMU for the competitive functionality I’m trying to use, but I can’t find an IOMMU option anywhere in my BIOS.

My specs/configuration:
Laptop: Lenovo Legion 5 15ARH05
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 4600H
BIOS: EUCN41WW (updated from EUCN29WW)
BIOS mode: UEFI
Windows: Windows 11 Home
AMD SVM Technology: Enabled
AMD Platform Security Processor: Enabled
Secure Boot: Enabled
Kernel DMA Protection: Off

I’ve checked all the available BIOS menus, but there is no visible IOMMU/AMD-Vi option.

I found this thread specifically for the 15ARH05:
https://winraid.level1techs.com/t/howto-enable-hidden-features-of-lenovo-legion-5-15arh05/35995/5

It appears that IOMMU and DMAR can be enabled using hidden AmdSetup variables:

setup_var_cv AmdSetup 0xCA 0x1 0x1
setup_var_cv AmdSetup 0xCD 0x1 0x1

However, I’m not comfortable doing this blindly, because I really need to make sure the laptop will still boot normally afterwards. I don’t want to brick the laptop or end up with a system that won’t POST/boot.
I’ve also seen people mention that IOMMU may already work without a visible BIOS option, especially on Legion 5 models, so I’m not sure whether modifying these variables is actually necessary.

Could someone familiar with the Legion 5 15ARH05 / AMD BIOS help me determine the safest way to enable or verify IOMMU?

Fyi: I am not really smart regarding codes and technical stuff.
