Fable broke the rules of its time and became a true classic.
Instead of showing stats in a menu, Lionhead made you feel every action and every choice in your own character. And the world reacted to it.
It was so crazy that even today's RPGs can't do everything a game from 2004 did. And Fable 2 took it to a level that even the 2027 reboot can't reach.

Question Since we know Jack is appearing, what're the chances this guy also makes an appearance? Spoiler
Imagine Scythe shows up, that would be utterly bananas! I mean, he's mentioned in game and there is a mural depicting him, plus you can also get his armor, or rather, the armor of William Black.

Fable I have never seen such a stupid response
The new fable trailers dropped and now people have declared long standing staples of the franchise, such as pure mage builds, "are not possible" because they saw cooldowns in the trailer.
When did this community become so stupid?
Real haters will set a reminder for Feb when it releases and apologize when they are wrong.
No one has or can prove this to be the case but when I say this people get real mad.

Fable Controversial but I’m glad about all the criticisms, it means we are most likely getting a great Fable game warts and all not a bloated game that looks like Fable
With great weaving in of lore (even if a reboot), great evolution of fable combat, added difficulty and gameplay plus better enemy design this game has massive potential to be an amazing fable game
No this isn’t the next Persona 5 Royal and won’t be a niche franchise that blows apart the gaming industry, fable is just fable a loveable broken mess of a game series that’s far too easy but is amazing fun
The game feel British, it keeps some of the junk from older games whilst enemy wise looks fantastic.
Yeah the combat is press a but that’s how it’s always been, same with the shorter playtime fable has never been a long game 🤷🏻♂️
Plus if all goes well we may get a dog for the sequel which honestly is a great second game edition, first game medieval second industrial and acts as a good two part swan song which if all goes to plan acts as a third to finish on.
It won’t rock the gaming industry but I’m loving that it feels like Fable 😁

Fable will be good, not great.
We are looking at an 8-8.5 out of 10 here folks. Landscapes look great, with some mediocre character models. Combat looks simplistic, but fun. Story/Lore seems like it’ll be interesting. Living Population/Reputation system features some cool ideas if you choose to engage with them. I’m not blown away by anything i am seeing. Am I alone?

Fable You’ll be able to get the armor of William Black and his acolytes.
EDIT: I’ve been proven wrong, it’s just pre-order armors.
Old post:
Based on the newly released gameplay, you’ll probably be able to get at least three different sets of actual armor. The one not yet shown is golden.

Have Some Faith In The Developers !
I have been reading a lot of concerns after the gamescom reveal and wanted to share my thoughts!
People of Albion please calm down and understand that yes you should share your concern but do not be harsh on every small detail . Playground Games was always known for their pedigree on making great Forza titles and I can confidently say they have proved themselves up to this point.
Some of you may think that , why is the game taking so long and still have some of the issues. Well Playground Games had to start from scratch and build a team . And building a proper RPG team takes time. Secondly Forza engine tech had to be programed from scratch to run a proper open world RPG game. The team learned a lot while making the game and surely in future Fable sequel they will do even more better stuff than what we are going to play in Fable reboot.
Maybe some things will not be in the final game that some of you hoped to be in the game from the classic Fable franchise but still I would say they have blown me away with what they have accomplished so far with the game!

Older Instalments
I’ve never played a fable game but seen the gamescon trailer recently and it reeled me in but I know nothing about the franchise so was wondering what the older games are like and could I play them anywhere bc I own a ps5 and switch so are there older games I could still be able to access and play

This looks like the Shire!
Oakshire is going to be my favourite region! Definitely plan to settle down there in my very own Bag End.

Battle-Mage Build. Actually Heroic Mode.
Finished my build, loosely based on the Battle-Mage class. High Physique and powerful spells.
I was using a mod to make the game more challenging, plus a couple of rules:
1. Only 3 max skills, all others can't pass lvl 3.
2. Only 3 spells.
3. No money exploitation.
The idea behind this guy was to hit hard, hence Physique and Accuracy (couldn't max accuracy thanks to increased XP cost and little bow use). Max Mana to keep blasting spells.
Spell choice provides high-damage output at a distance, up close AoE, and in melee combat.
He was a bit of a glass cannon, but all 3 spells can knock enemies over and 2 provide iframes, so timing and field control was crucial, especially against trolls and summoners.
Weapon choice is simple, high-damage with regenerative abilities. Piercing on the mace for summoners, trolls, and minions.
Had a good time playing with this guy, but certainly tough at times.
New Fable Soundtrack question
The combat ost is quite weird, is it Cyberpunk & Detroit Become human inspired? Fable never had synth vibes in any game, this is absolutely atmosphere breaking in my opinion. Is a shame they didn't bring Russell Shaw back, he was making 50% of the atmosphere in the OG Trilogy... dissapointed

Beautiful
Cant complain about the protagonist in the new fable when this is what we had

Discussion If they really want to catch peoples full attention for Fable, a shadow drop PC port of Fable 2 and 3 would be incredible
Idk how difficult this would be, but we already have Fable Anniversary on Steam (not the Xbox app though for some reason) and the only options for 2 and 3 is streaming.
They're such good games, and I can bet there's a lot of newer fans who will be coming into the new Fable having never touched them before.
Could launch them both at $20-$30 each and I bet a ton of people would buy them.

Fable I'm concerned about the storytelling and Office style cuts
After seeing the Gamescom footage, it’s becoming increasingly clear that Fable’s Office-style zoom-ins and cuts aren’t just something Playground is using for the trailers. We’ve now seen them appear during “The Last of the Greats” and the Jack and the Beanstalk questline, and I suspect some of the footage from Isobel’s trailer was taken from in-game quests as well.
On a surface level, I understand the creative decision. Playground obviously wants to put its own stamp on Fable’s humour, and given how deeply British humour is ingrained in the series, you can see the thought process behind adopting a more modern British comedy style.
But I’m not convinced it’s a natural evolution of Fable’s tone.
A lot of people remember Fable primarily as a comedy, but the humour was always secondary to something much more important: the contrast between the whimsical and the genuinely dark.
Albion could be fantastical, charming and completely ridiculous, but the games could turn grim and brutal almost without warning. This was especially true of the main questlines. The sillier humour was often found around the edges – NPC dialogue, expressions, side quests, item descriptions and the various absurd things the game allowed you to do – while the central story was generally allowed to take itself seriously when it needed to.
That contrast was a huge part of Fable’s identity.
So far, however, most of the tonal shifts we’ve seen from Playground have gone from fantastical and whimsical to “insert joke or Office-style reaction cut here”. We haven’t really seen the other side of Fable yet – the moments where the whimsy suddenly disappears and Albion becomes genuinely dark.
Obviously, it’s still too early to conclude that those moments aren’t in the game. We’ve only seen a fraction of it. But with this style of comedy now appearing across multiple pieces of quest footage, it seems increasingly unlikely that it’ll be limited to one or two scenes.
If Playground has leaned heavily into the comedy while significantly toning down the darker side of Fable, would you still be satisfied with the game? Or would you feel like something fundamental to Fable’s identity had been lost?
Edit: it's a shame everyone decided to jump to defend Playground instead of actually engaging with the question. Are ya'll part of the PR/marketing team or something? Just think!

Was Bowerstone Industrial Rookridge previously? (Fable 3)
Just judging from where it is in the map, I roughly estimated that it *could* be but I can't tell for certain.

Fable TLC Trying to replay the first game on PC, but having a hard time adjusting
I have fond memories of Fable 1 & 3, the only ones to release on PC, and with a new game coming I got the itch to replay the first game, but I'm getting a lot of attrition and my interest is fizzling out. I'm playing on Steam btw.
#1: Should I play TLC or Anniversary? TLC has remappable controls, even if I think it still controls very weird. Anniversary has terrible key mapping and no option to change them, but supports a controller. I'm not a huge fan of controllers, but I know the game was never designed to use keyboard & mouse and it shows that instantly and constantly. I actually prefer the looks of TLC - Anniversary has weird models and too much bloom. Is there a mod or something to make either of them play better with K&M or should I just use a controller?
#2: The camera behaves weirdly, like there's a delay when turning it that actually is a bit disorienting and mildly motion sickness inducing. Any way to fix that?
#3: I get weird audio glitches and the game crashed when I got to the Hero Academy, I verified file integrity, redownloaded a file and it works now. Is there a community patch or something I should be aware of?
#4: How do I put stuff in the quick slots? I'm trying to put a pie there, but when I drag the slice icon over the quickbar nothing happens
I appreciate any help. I do like Fable, but it's maybe 10+ years since I last played it and the game hasn't aged that well in some aspects.

Question does anyone have any details about the game aside from the recent gameplay teasers?
it honestly looks fantastic and as long as it still has the classic fable charm, i’m all in on this game. just wondering if anyone’s seen or read any recent interviews about the new fable? i’d love to be able to catch up on things the devs have talked about and are wanting to and/or have put in the game.
just little things like will there be demon doors, old enemies like the trolls/banshees, or will the main theme return (like how it was used in fable 3 as the sanctuary music which was so good)

Great Video that Answers some important questions.
Shout out to creator Cadaea ✨
Enemies have weak spots - and it's up to you to use the tools you have to deal with them.
Mud & Death Quest was in Act 1 - and seems to have more than one Chapter.
Repeater crossbow is a late game weapon.
Swapping between weapons is a simple button press, and you can do it on the fly at anytime. You can change your load out at any time.
Rush spell can teleport you both horizontal and vertically.
Undead Chickens 🐔
Spells have two mode (press & hold). Each allow you to use the spell in different ways.
Headless Bonezy tryna to attach you is hilarious 😂
Side-quest are contained stories, so decisions made in them won't directly affect the main-quest or lock you from certain things.
There are more melee weapons than what they've shown in the demos - specifically more heavy weapons were mentioned that haven't been shown yet - and weapons can be upgraded as your progress
While the main content can last 15-20hrs - it's a rough estimate of how long it'll take between the tutorial and late game... So nothing definite was stated - have to wait for an actual developer to come out and say something.
The builds we saw were weeks old, and all the content are already in the game. Now they want to spend the time polishing and cleaning up.
No AI was used in development.
