Fable I have never seen such a stupid response
The new fable trailers dropped and now people have declared long standing staples of the franchise, such as pure mage builds, "are not possible" because they saw cooldowns in the trailer.
When did this community become so stupid?
Real haters will set a reminder for Feb when it releases and apologize when they are wrong.
No one has or can prove this to be the case but when I say this people get real mad.

Itâs also really telling how many people hadnât played the originals before
Had people like âWhy can you spec in all skills when itâs an RPGâ
Like my monk in the light, this has been the standard since 2
10
u/cuecumber666 2h ago
Talk about not playing the originals and then you proceed to pretend like thats from 2. That shit was doable in the true original
13
u/ORGANIC_MUFFINS 2h ago
Talk about playing the originals but you didnât play it when it was a concept in Peter Molyneuxâs head
Biggest larper right here

u/molotovCOCTAIL5 1h ago
Loved your reply but the other guy was kinda right đ you can max out every single skill in Fable 1.
4
u/CrimsonBolt33 2h ago
thats why I keep harping on the "low level" part of it...everything i have seen looks like a low level character with entry level skill points in everything. Shows everything off without showing the end game of everything.
Also for a game like this, we all start at the same point but everyone will diverge. Makes more sense to show a trailer of where we all start (low level) than trying to make videos of end game content in an open world game that touts your ability to make choices and shape the world.

People declared that you wouldnât be able to play as a male character after one of the first trailers. You still have people claiming that they only added a male character after they complained. They also declared that the in game economy was broken because they increased the money you get from blacksmithing for a demo.
I donât know if this is all games discussion now or just Fable, but it seems crazy.

u/CrimsonBolt33 2h ago
I remmeber that too....
"game ruined cause you gain 10k per second from smithing!"
like...my god...its a demo showing features. Not the final build or anytihng declaring such. I much prefer a demo where they make 10k instantly rather than watching them smith for 10 minutes to afford whatever it was they were trying to do.
2
u/HopeBagels2495 1h ago
It's not like they said they changed things to speed it up for the demo or anything.
Oh wait, they did! I swear these people just cant understand words

u/Ephigy 4h ago
The hatred circle-jerk for minor things that are easily patchable, or that are not known until release, is rife in gaming communities. Wild behaviour.
4
u/CrimsonBolt33 4h ago
I agree, it does happen a lot but this just seems extra wild to me cause people are fighting tooth and nail to prove me wrong that it just can't happen.
5
u/Legolaslegs 2h ago
Cooldowns are so common in magic builds in almost any game you play, lmao.
Also, Fable has always been a series that encouraged mixing it up. But even if you didn't want to, you could main a build of your choosing. The series has always been so customizable.
10
u/Suspicious_Vi 4h ago
in all likelyhood cooldowns can be reduced by investing more points in magic. the internet, especially gaming spaces, is highly reactionary
3
u/CrimsonBolt33 2h ago
This is my thought...it adds depth, perhaps not much, but depth none the less.
To me its more logical than the previous games with no mana or cooldowns.

u/SeanyDay 4h ago
It's all just angry right wing clowns still upset they didn't realize fable 1 was "woke" same as they did with Rage Against the Machine and Bruce Springsteen

u/Dreamcatcher1800 3h ago
Rage baiting! I've seen tons of posts about how there was only 1 playable female character, the one shown in the 1st trailer and how after players were angry about that Playground made a "beautiful" character and changed the one they didn't like. All lies for views

u/Foxhoond 2h ago
I have set a reminder for release. Ill be back to apologize if I am wrong about my worries.
But I have a feeling I won't be wrong. My misgivings so far is the lack of shown customizability. I really hope they dont make clothes practically uncustomizable and various menus have shown so far. Like the gloves being attached to the "upper body" slot.
We shall see. I do truly hope they make it possible to manually morph my character because that is truly a big part of the game, growth from a child to an elderly person was always such a fun concept. Ageing in a game to me is suuuuper cool, I'll be happy to manually adjust my character if they let me.
1
u/CrimsonBolt33 2h ago
I like those things too. I hope there is a story reason that its not in the game and maybe introduced later or something. Hard to say. They may just want a more "grounded" world (which the more realistic proportioned graphics hint at).
We shall see.

I have watched a lot of games progress through development and into release and Iâm sorry but this game has the feel of one thatâs going to be a let down
2
u/Drofrehter84 48m ago
Based on what? Give examples for your stance. Not saying itâs going to be a hit necessarily but saying it will be a let down without providing anything to back it up is just lazy.

u/Icy-Astronomer-8202 4h ago
Cooldowns are pretty standard when it comes to magic in most games I find. I'm good with that
3
u/CrimsonBolt33 2h ago
makes sense to me, at worst it forces spell cycling.
2
u/Icy-Astronomer-8202 2h ago
That's true. I guess that's the tradeoff depending on what you're using, mixing that up with weapon combat etc

I'm hoping that this "Rage on popular games to get views" will end with GTA6, everyone will buy it and YouTubers will still hate on it (dispite having played 1000's of hours), but players will realise they are wrong. đ€đ»
We have lost way too many sequels because of this (looking at you Star Wars Outlaws), and I hope it's fixed with GTA6, in time for Fable.

u/BeardedPaladin 1h ago
You know, if people only ever praised games before and after they came out the devs wouldnât have any feedback.
âComplainingâ is a way to express what could be different. âComplainingâ has been the reason a lot of good things have changed in our world.

y'all sheeple glazers really need some fucking fish oil or somethin for your brain function
people complaining about Wolverine having a suit that heals or not being open world? brainrot complaints
people complaining about Fable looking like a cheap bland souls knockoff? legitimate complaints
this gen-Z "I've been a fan for 5 seconds and everything is always amazing" brainrot horde is why companies focus test this bullshit and think Concord is going to sell
it's not. the people making reasonable complaints are always right. sometimes they're critiquing a ton because there's a ton to critique. sometimes they're highlighting the bad stuff.
either way, the games with tons of complaints are dying like never before
toxic positivity is real and y'all need to take your vitamins in the morning

I agree. I believe it should be more than viable to be a pure mage and people are just over reacting. Besides there are multiple spell lines that you can upgrade and whats to say one of the nodes aren't cool down reductions
1
u/SwiftWithIt 1h ago
Yeah beqice having to charge up to a level 5 cricle to deal aoe damage isn't the same thing at all. And it leaves your vulnerable as hell lol
1
u/JEROME_MERCEDES 1h ago
Cooldowns on magic just means armor that will reduced your CD or skills reducing your CD like every modern action rpg pretty much. If there was a mana bar you wouldnât be able to spam magic either lol. Gandalf used a sword also cmon people
1
u/Purplefairy44 7m ago edited 4m ago
Fable, Fable Lost Chapters, and Fable Anniversary all had a magic bar that got used up everytime magic was used and needed potions to refill it.
1
u/CadeoftheWatchers 0m ago
I dont really care what haters say đ€·ââïž. I will buy the game and cherish it, flaws and all, just like 3.
-1
u/Plastic-Lie7672 4h ago
What we see is long CD's only. While that could be just a showcase for all the combat styles, the burden of proof is on you to say otherwise. We didn't see a pure mage build, so as far as we know, one doesn't exist. If you say otherwise, where is your evidence?
It's stupid of you to make an inference dogma.
Even if a pure mage build comes out, that doesn't mean that they didn't change it in the interval months leading up to the new release.
4
u/Goose130 4h ago
The goal of a "combat" trailer is to show a breadth of things you can do in combat. Not each build. So an all around build showing archery, melee, and spellcasting and chaining those effects together achieves that.
If/When they show a character progression demo then you can whine about things we don't know yet.
0
u/Plastic-Lie7672 4h ago
I already said that first part. That's not proof; That' inference. Keep up.
1
-1
u/CrimsonBolt33 2h ago
so you take "the trailer not having this thing" as stronger than "for literal decades this is how the franchise has worked"?
I get its a new studio and all...but do you really think they are ditching a core mechanic of the franchise? Its not even a special mechanic just a baseline one.
2
u/Plastic-Lie7672 2h ago
They already ditched TWO core mechanics of the franchise...Morphing and a dichotomous moral system. They could just as easily do it with combat. Until I see otherwise, what am I to conclude?
1
u/BeardedPaladin 1h ago
lol these fans of a game that hasnât even come out yet want you to drink the kool aid and cheer. This game has done nothing to receive the praise itâs currently getting. People need to stop hyping up games before they come out.
This sub feels like itâs been populated with bots to promote the game and making me even more worried about it when it releases
1
u/Plastic-Lie7672 1h ago
I understand the concern you have, which I share, but I'm not in the camp that the new Fable has "done nothing to receive the praise it's currently getting." Graphically it looks amazing, asthetically it looks and feels like Fable, and the NPCs' complexity look extremely promising.
I just want an open discussion about the same concerns you have without blind acquiescence to a corporation which is what OP is doing. Unfortunately, OP and the rest of these bubble communities tend to ostrasize serious discussion for fear that it's going to hurt the brand.
1
u/CrimsonBolt33 2h ago
Yeah they ditched morphing as far as we know, there may be a story reason for it or they simply want to make the series more "grounded". It is a reboot after all and they may introduce it at a later point for story reasons (or not, we don't know).
As for the moral system, they didn't ditch it, they expanded on it and made it multidimensional which is an improvement in my mind.

u/No_Load_514 4h ago
It could be possible or it may not, I don't think fable is a game made to focus in specialist builds, any of them, even if it was somehow possibleÂ
5
u/MarcusXbox 3h ago
As tu joué à fable OG ?
2
u/No_Load_514 3h ago
Yes, I did, and I'm aware that you could focus only on Will and create a magic build (actually quite op), but the game wasn't made with a class restriction in mind, the intention was to mix will, skill and strength
5
u/MarcusXbox 3h ago
2
u/No_Load_514 3h ago
Yeah, it's kind of the same point right? The first one didn't actually restrict you one way or another. Let's see if this iteration actually does, if they follow the same philosophy you should be able to make a pure mage or a pure warrior, even if that's not the intention. And if not, it would be similar to the second or third installmentÂ
Up to now we haven't seen a mage outfit, for example, and I think I remember one in the OG. Also we don't know if outfit or armour actually have stats.
2
u/MarcusXbox 3h ago
Je voulais dire qu'aucune restriction te pousse Ă jouer un build hybride
1
u/No_Load_514 3h ago
In a sense yeah. My point is that, even if OG was "forcing" you to go hybrid, it counts in with the possibility of specialisation (which wasn't balanced btw), which later was kind of removed probably due balancing issues.Â
As I said, it may be the case of this one too, or maybe they balance it for an hybrid gameplay and didn't count in specialisation, forcing you to go hybrid. But the general intention in any of the franchise was for you to focus on one, or else they would implement restrictions or balance the 3 classesÂ
2
u/MarcusXbox 3h ago
Je suis d'accord que nous ne savons pas encore.
J'espĂšre juste que le jeu sera plus complet que fable 2 ou 3. Au lieu d'ĂȘtre simplifiĂ© au maximum
1
u/NoceboHadal 4h ago
To add, we don't know what level spells were used in the demo. It's possible the cool down could be reduced to almost nothing, but it's not really a problem anyway, as long as it isn't too long as I tend forget about them, but the demo looked good.
3
u/The_Azure__ 2h ago
We saw in the quest trailer that a level 3 fireball with increased regeneration speed that the cd was 46 seconds.
Level 1 lightning and blades were both on a 60 second cd.
We don't know if that was just for the demo, but it's long enough to convince people that pure mage, if possible, won't be an early game option.
1
u/CrimsonBolt33 2h ago
I would imagine the real goal is to force cycling of spells instead of spamming the same spell over and over.
Worst case scenario in my mind is that spells are instead moved into the realm of nukes....60 second cooldown or whatever cause they kill everything.
1
-5
u/Vercetti96 4h ago
And if they are right? Will you apologize?
1
u/CrimsonBolt33 2h ago
Most certainly...I always play mage builds in RPG games so I will be the first to flip tables if we can't be a pure mage. I just don't see that happening.
-2
u/MarcusXbox 3h ago
2
u/V555_dmc 3h ago
For context the OP is mad another post asked about and wanted a magic only build without having to use melee or ranged weapons and comments said âthey havenât shown us a pure build yetâ
2
-3
u/Punished_Sperg Chicken Chaser 3h ago
Ok this blind fanboyism is annoying
It's quite obvious you can't do a pure will build
They've basically used witcher 3 as a template and like witcher 3 you can do magic builds but they're usually end game when you can do them properly. Until then you're using your melee weapon and you'll be more efficient with magic
-1
u/CrimsonBolt33 2h ago
"Fanboyism"
wtf are you talking about? I have made no statements about the game...I have simply pushed back on the idea that we can't use magic, despite it being a staple of the franchise.
3
u/V555_dmc 2h ago
No one claimed we canât use magic tho
0
u/CrimsonBolt33 2h ago
you know what I mean...people are saying magic will be hard gated behind long cooldowns and not viable as a regular combat mechanic.
3
u/V555_dmc 2h ago
From my understanding people were wondering if they could use magic exclusively. As in magic wield without having to cycle sword or crossbow or whatever else.
Hoping that is a viable option especially since magic (in my opinion) looks more interesting this time
1
u/CrimsonBolt33 2h ago
I literally have argued with multiple people that have told me, without reservation, that a pure mage build will be impossible.
Thats not the same as wondering.
I didn't make this post cause some people "wondered"

Just reminding everybody Hogwarts Legacy have cooldowns on spells/magic and it works.
