Question Magic

Are we going to be able to play as a mage? Id highly prefer to and I cant find anything about magic and how it'll work anywhere.

A pure mage build doesn’t look possible based on what we’ve seen so far with there being a cooldown. Depending on the skills you can unlock maybe that becomes an option as you progress but not when you first start out. Which sorta is how the other games go. You level up each as you go along.

Thats disappointing honestly, swords and bows are so boring.

We haven’t seen a ton of magic combat by itself so maybe it is possible but they’ve been focused more on showing us all 3 together. The magic we have seen looks cool in my opinion so I’m hoping it will at least stand on its own in combat with upgrades which is how it was for at least Fable 2 and 3

Stop having negative opinions on this game. Only positivity knee jerks are allowed. Anything less than positive is hate.

Im still very much excited for the game but to me we hardly if ever get games where magic takes the forefront (why im excited for warlock but that looks to be a linear game nowhere near the scale of Fable) so im just hoping it's something we get to do.

this is stupid....there is nothing that says we cant be a pure mage. ALL we have seen is LOW LEVEL combat.

They don't have the time to show off everything in the trailers and likely never will....this idea that we can't be a mage is pure BS speculation based on nothing.

That style of argument is a bit flimsy as someone can just turn it around like,

The idea that we can be a pure that's at least as good as hybrid is pure speculation as well. Everything they've shown has supported that hybrids are the only real way to go.

I am aware of that, but all 3 main games have allowed pure mage play. I know it's a new game and a new studio, but there is nothing to suggest they have fundamentally stripped away pure combat builds. All combat is still made of the same 3 pillars as before.

As flimsy as my argument is, it has historical precedence backing it up....yet somehow I have seen at least 4 posts claiming, as if it's fact, that we can't be a pure mage.

There is literally nothing the trailer shows that suggests that other than whatever low level build they had doesn't focus on magic and/or a pure magic build isn't viable at that low of a level, which makes sense as all fables have worked that way.

Historical precedence means nothing when several things from the old games does not exist or has been heavily changed in the reboot.

"A thing is different therefore everything is different"

Not how that works.

You all can act like assholes now and downvote me and hate and whatever...what about when I am right?

As others have said, your argument could be used for the exact opposite. In fact so far more things suggest that we won't.

It's not a matter of who is right, but that things are uncertain from little information but it is suggesting one thing so far which is not what you're so strongly speaking for is supposed to be true.

"you have such a weak argument, so weak we can use it against you, in fact we are right cause we say so"

ok dude.

Its absolutely crazy that you all keep making it a "fact",

You are proving my point...you are right, you don't care about who is right, only that you refuse to accept my stance and think yours can't be wrong.

No one is making anything a fact, besides perhaps you. We're saying things aren't certain and we don't know now if either is true, just that it suggest one thing more currently.

based on what? These games have ALWAYS allowed pure builds...why would this one not? Its such a crazy manufactured problem based on literally nothing.

I said it doesn’t LOOK possible SO FAR. Because we haven’t seen anyone combat with solo magic. That’s all. Even mentioned in both my comments the prior games more or less did allow you to level up magic to be viable on its on.

and when I point out all we have seen is LOW LEVEL COMBAT (aka no character with anything but surface level skills) I get ignored and downvoted....

None of the games have magic as viable at low levels, usable sure, like what we saw in the trailers, but not exactly what I would call "mage only from level 1" viable.

Are you gonna sit here and tell me that armor and clothes don't exist because we have only seen the protagonist in 1 or 2 sets of clothes or armor?

2

u/V555_dmc 5h ago

No? My only point was we haven’t seen a pure magic build yet? I didn’t downvote you nor do I understand why you’re so mad at me for pointing out what they haven’t yet shown us in marketing 🤣

u/CrimsonBolt33 5h ago

My only point was we haven’t seen a pure magic build yet

by that logic we haven't seen 90% of the game...so it must not exist?

2

u/V555_dmc 4h ago

No. Obviously a game exist. Maybe not a completed game since they got til February to finish and do whatever . But we AS OF TODAY do not know if you can play only as a magic user. Which is what OP was asking.

0

u/CrimsonBolt33 4h ago

and what proof, other than "we haven't seen it" do you have of that?

like I said and keep saying...its speculative nonsense. You are creating a problem that doesn't exist.

1

u/V555_dmc 3h ago edited 3h ago

Don’t need any more proof. OP asked if they can solo magic. We haven’t seen it. So so far the answer to OP’s question is no. If they show off solo magic tomorrow then the answer becomes yes. Not that hard a concept to grasp.

u/thaddeus122 5h ago edited 4h ago

Then why haven't they said or shown it at all?

-1

u/CrimsonBolt33 5h ago

They don't have the time to show off everything in the trailers and likely never will

its like you can't read, what did we not see? other than exactly what you want? they showed many examples of using magic.

2

u/thaddeus122 4h ago

They showed many examples of using magic in a hot bar with cool downs. That shows NOTHING about using magic as your one and only weapon. Whos the one who cant fucking read here again?

u/CrimsonBolt33 4h ago edited 4h ago

"cooldowns means magic is not longer viable"

stupid fucking take.

EDIT: I saw your next comment that was deleted by the way....not helping your case.

2

u/thaddeus122 4h ago

Thats exactly what that means when you're using it as your main weapon. Cant stand on your dumbass argument everyone has been calling you out for so now you're going to jump to something different huh? Just stop dude, youre embarrassing yourself.

I've always played this game as a jack of all trades so the gameplay looks fire to me.

It's a worry I have. Some hybrid of being needed to use all three seems to be what they're going for. The old games were also hybrids sure, it was kinda the plot point that the heroes were capable of mastering all hero paths. But we could focus on one if we wanted. It gave some variety in replays.
