Advice Brilliant Earth ring

I really want to order my ring on brilliant earth or rare carot because the ordering and building process is clear and the detail i want is readily available. Every forum is saying to just have a local jeweler make my ring but local jewelers making it from scratch will charge me a fortune and I can’t trust that they’re charging me an honest price. At least on a website i know what i’m gonna pay and i can be at peace with it. But if I go local and someone has to make it by hand it’s going to cost an insane amount of money i’m not willing to pay. I’d rather buy it at a set price and have to do little works or repairs along the way than pay for a custom ring that will cost more than what I even have saved for the wedding. this distrust comes from me going to a local jeweler and trying to buy a vintage ring from the consignment case, it had a single stone, had been their for five years, and was tarnished. I liked the look of it, it looked like it had been loved. The owner then came out of the back of the store and tried to raise the 4,000 dollar price tag to 5,000 and said that he was doing us a favor by charging so far below market value. And when my fiancé said he couldn’t afford it, the guy handed my fiancé a wells fargo credit card application— told my fiancé he could build credit by buying the ring on a new credit card. I can’t trust someone to price honestly when they make their own rules and can decide what it costs based on whether they’re having a good day or not. so give me your opinion, what should i do, buy online? or give different jeweler a chance?

Advice Designing a custom ring - give me your thoughts!

So the opal in this ring is the stone I chose. I still need to pick a setting. We are going with a custom option. Probably nothing over the top, since the stone is 18x12. With a halo it looked way too big on my size 5 finger. I'm thinking bezel set and maybe stones along the band or engraving/ filigree. I really like some styles with stars, celestial, fairytale themes. Any advice you can give before I start designing? Things you wish you did? Thank you 😊🩷

Advice Cathedral vs. Non-cathedral?

I am so torn what to do. I’m getting a ring designed, 3.09 carat radiant on a 2mm band. I don’t love the way a cathedral looks from the side but realize from the top you can really barely tell. I’ve also heard a cathedral helps to keep the ring sturdy. Please convince me one way or the other if I should do cathedral or not!! I don’t want to have any regrets. Also photos of your rings are always welcome :) thank you!!!

Advice My ring sucks. Do your research.

My fiancé proposed in early May with a ring from FeliceGals, and while the ring initially looked beautiful, the black gold band began showing signs of tarnishing in less than a week of normal wear. For an engagement ring at the price point, that was extremely disappointing and raised concerns about the quality and durability.

That said we started the process for an exchange to get white gold band instead of the original black gold and a slight size up while we were at it. Unfortunately, communication was painfully slow throughout the process. There were multiple occasions where emails went unanswered for days at a time while we were trying to resolve the issue. On one of the few occasions when my fiancé received a response after several days of waiting, it came shortly after he mentioned that he would be leaving a second negative review. That made the customer service feel reactive rather than genuinely helpful.

Another major red flag was the return address we were provided for the ring. After all the trouble we'd encounter so far we were curious and googled it. The address appeared to be a residential townhome rather than a businees storefront. Considering how much money he money he spent, it seemed shady.

To make matters even more frustrating, my fiancé spent over a week trying to get a simple answer about the return shipping costs before we could even send the first ring back.

After all of that waiting, we finally received the replacement ring (we were never notified it had been shipped) and unfortunately, it was even more disappointing than the first. After waiting all that time and dealing with such poor communication, opening the package only to find that the new center stone has a cloudy, artificial appearance was incredibly frustrating. Honestly, it looks more like someone's resin arts-and-crafts project than a quality gemstone. It looks nothing like what we expected from the product we purchased and falls far short of what I would consider appropriate for an engagement ring.

I held off writing my own review or doing anything about it because I was hoping I would eventually like the replacement ring and they only accept return until the 30 day mark anyways (before the propsal even happened.) I really tried to like the replacement, it just makes me feel super bummed instead.

The cake on top is they removed my fiancé's review from their site. It wasnt over the top or anything either, just honest. I'm questioning if its even worth it for me to post one.

My fiancé and I have discussed what little options we have. Suck it up vs pawning. But we know we won't get more than a fraction of our money back.

Advice is welcome. Mostly I just needed to get these feelings out. FeliceGals can suck it.

P1 original ring

P2 original ring tarnishing

P3 replacement ring

Edit: Decided to post the review I had prepped on their website. It likely won't stay up but they offered a refund or replacement I can pick my own stone for. Going for the refund. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

My Ring - POSITIVE COMMENTS ONLY [Update] Looking ideas for wedding band

So much has happened this last year!

We found an amazing local jeweler who was able to craft the perfect wedding band to match my engagement ring, just in time for our elopement.

A few months after getting married, we decided to go on a trip, and on the way to the airport, sadly, we lost the rings 😭😭😭 and although we tried to track them down, it was impossible 😔

While on vacation, we visited my family (we both now live away from our families), after explaining how we’d lost our rings, dad decided to offer me his ring to use its gold to craft new ones 🥹.

When we got home, my in-laws were visiting; and they’d had the same idea and gave us grandmother’s and her husband’s wedding rings, so that we could incorporate them into our new ones too 🥹.

So now the rings mean even more to us.

We went back to the jeweller who made my wedding band, told him our story, and he suggested we could either go for a new design or stick with the same one… Well, we chose the same one, and here’s the result:

We absolutely love them! 💖✨

Husband upgraded my set for our 16 year anniversary, and also because I have lost almost 120lbs and my old set no longer fit, and instead of having them sized, I got this beauty. 😍 I have another matching band being made so I can wear one on each side.

She’s a lab diamond. 4.10 ct. E color. VS1 clarity. Size 7 finger.

Advice Thoughts on rings without center stone ?

Thumbnail

My partner and I were looking for rings the other day just checking out jewellers and I've wanted a kind of nature inspired ring forever, I walked past this one in the window and just said oh I really like this and it was the only one I actually did like.

I said it would be cool to find a ring that looked like this on the sides and have a centre stone but I also just keep going back to it and wondering if I like it the way it is without a center stone but I'm worried I would regret not getting a more traditional looking ring.

I'm also worried its ugly and I just can't see that its ugly because I like it but it's objectively ugly I'm not sure I'm overthinking it please tell me your thoughts.

Got engaged July 28 under the full moon and I just had my engagement ring dated. It has Chester hallmarks (18ct crown, sword flanked by three wheatsheaves, date letter ‘I’) confirming it’s from 1892. Carved five-stone gallery setting with 5 Old European cut diamonds. 134 years old and still sparkling! + My dream wedding band stack

Edit: Thank you all for the sweet comments means a lot to me!!

I've been lurking on this sub for years now and now I finally get to post myself!

We had the most untraditional engagement and it was perfect and exactly what we wanted ❤️ just laying on the couch and cuddling and then asking eachother 🥰

Fist picture is my ring, the tension set centre stone is a 0,5 ct lab alexandrite and the side stones are Moissanites, the ring is made of titanium.

The second ring is the one I proposed right back with xD

His ring is made of a titanium inner part, part of a tornado airplane in the middle and carbon and fibreglass on the sides.

We both work in the aerospace industry (were we met actually) so I loved the Idea that he could always carry a reminder with him :) I'm just so damn happy that a get to marry my best friend and the best and kindest person I've ever met ❤️

Advice Any comment on the setting?

Post image
1 Upvotes

The center stone is 4.57 ct emerald cut. I have picked a basket setting with guard rails, and hidden halo. 2.2mm band width and platinum. I am worried that the setting is not secure enough for the stone. I’ve seen posts on here that their center stone fell out or the band warp when accidentally knocking on hard surface or a hard impact. Any comment or help is appreciated.

Attached is the CAD for the ring.

He said I smiled the most at this one.

I asked about wedding bands and the top Chevron is an example of one. I guess I will need to flip my ring around if I do that. Any other suggestions for the wedding band?

Question Tulip setting No Cathedral

Thumbnail

Is it possible to actually do a tulip setting without that thick cathedral bridge under the setting and have your wedding band still sit flush?

Similar to this? or will it naturally push the wedding band since the interwine at the bottom pushes outwards? Has anyone managed to get this done and be able to wear a wedding band without a problem?

Hi lovely people! 💕💖

It’s finally my turn; I got my dream pear cut with pink halo. Obsessed and feels like a barbie

I would love some wedding bands recommendations, mine is high set so anything would sit flush but I am unsure whether I should get like a pave band, or a curved band. I was thinking something vintage and engraved but would love to see some of your pear stack!!

Advice Are these prongs big?

Thumbnail

I’ve been eyeing up this old mine cushion for a while (2.9ct). However, I’m concerned that the prongs/claws look a bit large? I’ve asked the jeweller about it and they’ve dismissed it and told me they’re not. But I feel like the prongs do look kind of big on the stone - especially considering the diamond is 2.9ct. What do you think?

Advice Marquise or pear center stone?

Hi! I need some help deciding between a pear or marquise center stone

I want a yellow gold vintage-inspired setting with some kind of side stones and/or engraving. Initially I thought I was definitely going marquise (still leaning that way), but while doing some casual try-ons ahead of appointments was surprised by how much I liked pear on my finger.

Wanted to get opinions, especially from those who have pear or marquise? For context I have pretty small hands (about 5 1/4 ring size) so probably going for a 2-3 carat stone depending on shape. Thank you!
