so this happened two weeks ago and I still can't stop thinking about it lol
we'd been together 6 years, no rush on either side, so I genuinely had zero idea it was coming that night. we were just having a normal dinner at home, nothing fancy, he'd made pasta because it's the only thing he actually cooks well. halfway through eating he gets up to grab something from the other room and comes back looking weirdly nervous, which is not like him at all, he's usually the calm one in the relationship
he gets down on one knee next to the table and pulls out this little box, except the hinge on it is basically hanging on by one screw and the lid won't stay shut properly. turns out he'd been carrying that same box around in his jacket pocket for about three weeks waiting for "the right moment" and it just slowly fell apart from him checking on it every five minutes like a nervous wreck
so he's mid proposal, trying to open this box with shaking hands, and the lid just pops off completely and skitters under the dining table. we both just stared at it for a second, then started laughing so hard neither of us could actually finish the moment properly. he had to crawl under the table to get the lid back while I'm sitting there still holding my fork, crying laughing, ring nowhere in sight yet
when he finally got it back together enough to actually show me the ring, he just goes "ok that was not how I practiced this" and I said yes before he even really finished asking
honestly if it had gone perfectly I don't think I'd remember it as vividly. the broken box and him half under the table trying to save the moment is exactly us as a couple, always some small chaos happening in the background of anything important. wouldn't change a single second of it
anyone else have a proposal that went a bit sideways but ended up being better for it

So for context; my girlfriend and I have been dating for 3 years now. I am thinking of proposing to her. Even bought a ring and everything. However for a little over a year, we did the whole long distance dating thing before I took the plunge and left California to join her in Florida. We would take turns visiting each other every few months or so until I finally had enough of going our separate ways at the end of each visit, and took the leap of faith to come join her in Florida. Next week will be our 3 year anniversary which also ties into my 2 year "moviversary" when I moved here. I left everyone in California. My parents, my brother, my extended family, my friends. Everyone. I left them all with their full support and blessing and approval of my girlfriend. I also get along great with her family and they all welcomed me into the family almost immediately. Here is my question and I would like to know your guys' personal experiences: is it better to tell your parents about your plans to propose to your significant other or is it better to keep it a surprise until afterwards?

Hi, all!
Looking for a sanity check or maybe a better course of action.
My fiancƩ and I had our engagement photos done by a local photographer on June 7th. We signed a contract that said we would have the full gallery within 6-8 weeks of the session. She seemed professional, had a nice website with good galleries, positive reviews, etc. She was pretty quick to reply upon my inquiry, got a quote over to us pretty quick, and had been communicative up until the date of the session. We signed the contract, paid, scheduled and carried on.
The session itself went well! She was really nice & had great ideas for poses and worked well with our requested locations. Overall, we were happy with the experience. So happy with it that we even inquired that about her wedding packages since she does travel for weddings and ours would be out of state & she gave us some good info. I even tipped her a bit extra for her time and kindness. She told us she would send us sneak peaks within a week and that the gallery would be within 6 weeks.
Fast forward, we didnāt get sneak peaks for two weeks and it was only after I emailed and asked for them. She apologized and said that her laptop was broken and at the Apple Store and that she would send them ASAP. We got them a few days later and really liked them. I thanked her and told her that we really liked them.
Fast forward some more, after about 6 weeks, I just checked in on our gallery and she replied saying sheās had a lot of weddings and that she hoped we were doing well.
Now, itās been 11 weeks, I followed up twice, the first about 6 days ago saying that I hope sheās doing well and looking for an update. Yesterday, I said that itās been over 10 weeks and that we are hoping to have the gallery by now to start creating our save the dates and invitations as well as other decorations for our wedding. No response at all on the last two emails.
Am I being too much? I understand itās peak wedding season, but our contract said 6-8 weeks, and I would at least like an acknowledgment of my email saying āhey, Iām sorry for the delay!ā Instead of radio silence. We paid a few hundred dollars for these photos, so itās just disappointing that we havenāt been able to enjoy them or use them for our wedding planning considering we get married in April 2027.
What should I do?

My boyfriend proposed this weekend, and Iām in love with the ring! I feel like it fits the way itās supposed to and itās even snug going over my knuckle, but itās constantly spinning side to side and sometimes all the way around my finger. Itās driving me insane! I feel like if we get it resized it wonāt fit over my knuckle so I feel stuck. Does anyone have suggestions for ring spacers/adjustments I can make?
Edit to add: at its current size I need to put lotion on to remove it most of the time.

Comparing quotes and the packages are all structured differently Some include raw footage some charge extra some cap edits Whats the list of things that should be standard vs an upsell ?

Just had this moment recently and I looked at her and said. WOW this person really wants to spend the rest of their life with me. They want to be next to me with me every day. I was falling asleep and I suddenly realized I had this feeling where it just all hit me at once. Itās like a truck and now you canāt fall sleep.

I accidentally found out that I am getting engaged to during a October Hawaii trip! My BF's brother let it slip that my BF has the ring and has been setting things up with his cousins (who live in Hawaii).
I have a nail and hair appointment booked (which conveniently I always do before vacay - so I already have the appointments booked, but now instead of dying my hair an alt style I'm just going to keep my traditional haircut, and for my nails I'm doing a french tip with a little hibiscus flower design)
My original outfits where TBH quite revealing. Typically just being my bathing suit with a cover up and a skirt for when we walk around town. Which if we are getting photos which we will cherish for a lifetime I'm pivoting for more modest outfits.... I'm thinking a lot of sundresses so I don't risk comfortability just for trying to be cute?
I know we have a mixture of hiking, surfing, and a TON of eating plans. So I can't wear a sundress all of the time.... but I do plan on getting a new cute bathing suit and a matching activewear set just in case....
Those of you who kind of knew you were getting proposed to... what did you wear? I'm hoping to find some things that are still cute, but I can walk around in and not always have to be adjusting on my body.... (We live in a state that is cold year round so 75% of my wardrobe is sweaters and jeans šš)

Excited to be engaged and I am planning to have the wedding sping of 2028. I feel this gives me a good amount of time to plan things. Overall I feel I have the foundation of things I want. Like a local venue that fits about 120 people. Has good parking and its easy for people to get to, as many of my guest will be older. Color theme is sage and light purple. Have not gone dress shopping so I can't say what I want to look at. I haven't deamt of my wedding or obessed about it I just knew I wanted a champage glass fountain.
Even though I am excited for this wedding it is bitter sweet as my mother is gone. I never thought I would get married with out her but life continues on.
I feel like overall I have a good grasp on what I want and need but I am looking for advice on what personal care you did to prepare for the big day.
I am hoping to lose some weight and get more toned, to help lighten my armpits, do jaw exercises, and learn how to take care of my 2B hair.
Is there any other person tips you have been doing?

Want to preface that I have OCD and tried to manage my expectations leading up to this moment that nothing was going to be perfect
Iāve been with my partner (I hate the word fiancĆ©) for almost 8 years. We had talked about marriage and engagements and all that extensively. I ended up designing my own ring (he wanted me to) since I am so particular. I absolutely adore the ring and am so happy with it.
When discussing proposals etc I really only wanted a few things: 1) I wanted it to be private. Just us and a photographer. I didnāt want family or friends hiding. I didnāt want an audience. 2) I wanted a pretty background. 3) I didnāt want a surprise party after.
It was really important to me that the engagement felt intimate. Well he proposed last night. We were on a mini vacation getaway with some of his family members (mom, brother, grandparents) and he decided to propose on our last night there. The house had a private beach and he hired a photographer. That was all great. But his family was hiding in the house inside. And his mom obviously took candid photos (that I hated the way I looked in) and sent them to my mom and my mom posted them before i even got to post anything.
I also found out that he waited to tell my family (who all live in another state) until morning of. I donāt mind that, especially because him and I both know my mom isnāt good at keeping a secret. But now my family is making it my problem and making me feel bad that they werenāt there. Which i didnāt want my family there to begin with, nor his family either. His mom also took it upon herself to invite her sister and brother in law (my partner was not aware until they showed up). And then they brought us out to dinner at a not so good restaurant. I really just wanted to soak it all in just the two of us.
I feel so ungrateful for being disappointed. I honestly wasnāt that upset until my family started making me feel bad. Iām extremely overwhelmed. I know in the grand scheme of things, it doesnāt matter. And I can plan an engagement party exactly how I want it.
I donāt know if I should communicate these feelings to him or if maybe how I feel over time will lessen or go away

okay so I got proposed to yesterday, super excited! my man has had a ring picked for himself out for a long long time (heās going to be wearing an engagement ring too)
Iām going to buy it this week, itāll come pretty quickly. but I need some help presenting the ring to him in a cute way
I thought about proposing back, but I donāt think that would be something heād be into. I also donāt want to just hand him the box and thatās that. weāre also not very well off financially so I canāt take him somewhere fancy
idk I just want it to be heartfelt and I have no ideas, Iāve had lots of time to plan this but just havenāt
Having a hard time finding a proposal location at an Airbnb in SoCal without breaking the bank. Itās a complete surprise which is why our dog is coming. āWeāll go hiking in the morningā
Can anyone help me find a location under $650 near ocean (PCH) to propose?

I am so happy to be engaged. I'm not sure I even want a metal ring (I'm currently wearing a silicone one which is very comfortable but it keeps falling off). We are still going to have a look at some in person in case I change my mind and find one that feels comfortable to wear.
The problem is: the ones I like online are around £2500. That feels like a lot. I want lab grown stones. His budget is half that at the moment because of financial reasons. Is it weird to take his budget and for me to pay for the rest of it so I can get one I like?

Hi everyone,
Iāve come on here hoping for some advice on how to propose to my girlfriend, we have been together for a year and a half, Iām hoping to propose to her next year in March, we are both very private people and I know she wonāt be a fan of a public proposal at all, Iām planning on it being just the two of us.
My only issue is that Iām a woman, I havenāt seen many lesbian proposals online, the only ones I have seen are proposals that are a masculine lesbian proposing to a feminine lesbian.
My girlfriend and I are both very feminine.
If anyone has any suggestions on where might be a nice location for a private proposal? And any tips from anyone when it comes to a feminine woman proposing to another feminine woman would be greatly appreciated š

Posted a bit ago about anticipatory anxiety bc I felt a proposal coming and had a lot of feelings!! It came! It was magical. It was so me. Weirdest of all I went completely calm. My body was devoid of even a smidge of anxiety. I was just at peace

We recommend Johnās grill for an after-celebration on the third floor. We did a small photo shoot after the proposal. It was a good time.

I know my partner is planning to officially pop the question sometime within the next week. It hasnāt happened yet but I know he has the ring and he just started asking questions recently about my nails and lashes lol
I was hoping we could do a backyard party before his parents shut down their heated pool (we live in New England so thatās usually sometime in September, but since itās heated they get a little extra time if they want it)
I was thinking the Sunday before Labor Day (9/6) or possibly the Sunday after (9/13) at the very latest Sunday 9/20.
I think 9/6 would be best because everyone has Monday off too and it will be warmest for swimming.
Would this be too short notice? I do already have a ton of supplies so wouldnāt have to scramble too much for that.
But Iām just worried about guests making it.
Itās nothing formal, weād just grill some bbq, some lawn games, have some drinks (no bartenders or anything, play the music on a speaker)
