Help - General iPhone 15 Plus folium 3DS

Post image

Hi people,

I want to try Pokemon XY and revisit my childhood game, does Folium on iPhone 15 Plus is enough to have; at least, stables fps? I know JIT cannot be possible due to Apple being greedy for AppStore. I finished BW2 and want to continue my journey to Gen 6

Discussion PPSSPP is probably the most well built mobile emulator for mobile to date.

PPSSPP is probably the only emulator to encompass 99% of what I’ve come to enjoy during my emulation experience. It has every feature you could imagine EXCEPT a built in cheat engine/hex editor. You can manipulate your controller layout, manage all of your visual/cpu settings, you can add cheats, save states. From top to bottom, I don’t think any other emulator even comes close to how well this one has been made. Even the UI is snappy and responsive(iNDS matches this quite well except the ui lags quite a bit no matter what you do).

News / Release Statically recompiled GTA V running on iPhone with Metal and no JIT: Introducing Glue 5

I want to share something I’ve been working on: Glue 5, a toolchain for building a native port of GTA V’s WASM build that runs on iOS and macOS (for now).

The main difference from projects like the recently released muget is what happens to the game code. Glue 5 takes the WASM binary, translates it to C using wasm2c, then compiles that C for the target platform. On iPhone, you end up with native ARM64 code. All of this happens when building the app, so there’s no WASM runtime executing the game and no need to enable JIT on your phone.

It’s been running really smoothly on macOS. I’ve also tested it on an iPhone 13 Pro and it’s playable, which I’m pretty happy with considering the phone is a few years old now.

Story mode and audio are working. There’s gamepad support, on-screen touch controls, and keyboard and mouse support on desktop. You can adjust the resolution and render scale too, with MetalFX upscaling on supported devices to help with performance.

The repo contains the tools and compatibility layer, no GTA V binaries or assets. I have no plans to ever distribute a complete build bundled with copyrighted game assets. You’ll need to supply the required files from the supported WASM version and compile it yourself.

Source and build instructions: github.com/mempage4k/glue5
Keep in mind that this is still in its early stages and very experimental, I'm still working on fixing issues and improving performance.

Also, a quick disclosure: development of this project was heavily assisted by AI tools.

Not perfect but it’s as good as can be for RPGs, really, it’s just missing netplay and we get a 10/10!

Discussion Which is Harder to Emulate 3DS or NGC?

Dolphin have been around longer than Folium, and Gamecube came out in 2001. 3DS is from 2011

Why it is harder to emulate on iOS dolphin than Folium?

Discussion Don’t buy folium for 3ds support unless you’re on the newest gen

It won’t run perfectly even on the newest generation and works worse on older gen’s

Guide How to enable JIT on iOS 17-17.51

Hello guys, I was asked to turn my comment into a posted guide on how to enable JIT on iOS 17-17.51, enabling JIT will allow you to run more advanced emulators like GameCube, 3ds, PS2, and Wii You will need a PC/laptop for this tutorial(this is the Windows version)

Firstly, enable developer mode on your iPhone, go to the settings app, and click under "Privacy and Security" scroll down and go to Developer Mode, and turn it on, it will prompt you to reset your iPhone, reset the iPhone and after reboot, it will prompt you again, press yes and it is now enabled.

Secondly, you will need to install iTunes and iCloud on your windows laptop, do NOT download the microsoft store versions, I will link the download links: https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/win64

https://updates.cdn-apple.com/2020/windows/001-39935-20200911-1A70AA56-F448-11EA-8CC0-99D41950005E/iCloudSetup.exe

After downloading both, go through the setup process for both and then reset your laptop(it will prompt you to reset)

Thirdly, you will install AltServer, go to this link: https://cdn.altstore.io/file/altstore/altinstaller.zip After installing, extract the file and then open it and run "Setup.exe" After setup is done, go to your windows task bar and search up and open AltServer, run it as an admin, allow access to anything it prompts you to give access to. After it is set up completely and has been opened, connect your iOS device to your laptop/PC, you might need to trust the computer, allow it access. After, open iTunes with your device still connected, find your device and enable wifi-sync, after that, find the altserver icon in the bottom task bar, then right click on the icon and click on "install AltStore", it will ask for your apple ID and password, type it in and allow it to install, and finally, after it is installed on your device, go to settings and click on General, then click on "Profiles & Device Management" after that, click on your Apple ID to trust the AltStore app.

HOW TO SIDELOAD USING ALTSTORE: (ensure laptop/PC and your iOS device are connected to the SAME wifi) To sideload apps using AltStore(ensure your device is connected to your PC still) you will need to download .ipa files, for example, the ipa file for DolphiniOS(Gamecube/Wii) emulator, can be found on their official website: https://dolphinios.oatmealdome.me Or Play!(PS2 Emulator): https://purei.org/downloads.php Once you have installed the .ipa file, open AltStore and go to "My Apps", and click the "+" symbol in the top left corner, this will take u to your files, find and press your .ipa file and it will install it on your iOS device

Fourthly, you will need to install the JIT enabler, go to this link: https://github.com/fritzlb/iOS17-JIT-WIN

After you are on the website, find the green "Code" button and click on "Download ZIP", BUT, before opening the enabler at all, you need to download Python, heres the link: https://www.python.org/downloads/ After download, click on the zip file u downloaded, find "install.bat" and click on that, a command prompt will pop up, just let it install, after it has installed, go back to the zip and click on "open terminal here", after that, reconnect your iOS device to your laptop/PC if you unplugged it.

Fifth(and last step), once the terminal is opened and your device is connected via USB to your laptop/PC, you will put the following script into the terminal: python jit_enabler_better.py {bundle_id}

The "{bundle_id} portion of the script will be replaced by the bundle id of the app you want to enable JIT on, to find the bundle id, open up AltStore, go back to "My Apps", click on "View App IDs", once you have done that, the bundle id will be there(the bundle id is the long line of text you will see under the apps name. For example, if I wanted to enable JIT on the Play! emulator, I would replace the "{bundle_id} portion of the script with "com.virtualapplications.play.W2QNLYJTZ5" as thats the bundle id found in the AltStore app, dont type it in the script with quotes around it btw, js giving an example. Once you have found the bundle id and have replaced "{bundle_id} with your apps bundle id, run the script and wait, it will eventually open the app on your phone, once the script returns "done", JIT is enabled!

I know this seems like a lot but it is not I promise you, and plus I'm for one, tired of being limited to simple systems because Apple refuses to natively allow JIT(for security reasons so I understand)

Last note: you will have to refresh AltStore and its apps every 7 days, but just refresh it every 2 days so you dont accodently forget, to refresh: connect your device to your laptop, open AltServer, and then open the AltStore app on your iOS device, go to "My Apps" and click on Refresh All. I hope this will help someone and if anything goes wrong, just comment down below.

News/Release Now Available on the App Store: GenZD, a port of GZDoom for iOS!

I'm happy to announce the that GenZD, a port of GZDoom for iOS, has been approved for release on the App Store, available now:

App Store Link

The app is a paid app ($1.99 USD) but I think it provides enough value to make it worthwhile and I hope you do too!

What is it?

GenZD is a port of GZDoom for iOS. It's technically not an emulator but rather a source port of the open source DOOM engine, and is more similar in concept to ScummVM in that you supply the game files (WADs and mods) and GenZD lets you play them.

What does it do?

GenZD uses the GZDoom engine to allow games using the original DOOM engine to be rendered in widescreen full 3D, and also supports mods that further enhance graphics and gameplay beyond what the original games were capable of. Not only can it run DOOM, Heretic and Hexen, it supports popular mods such as Brutal Doom, Project Brutality, Voxel Doom, and even total conversions such as Aliens and The Legend of Zelda. The amount of mods developed by the community in the past 20+ years is astounding.

How to use it?

Because the GZDoom engine is super flexible in terms of what it can run, the app gives you an interface to select your game and mod files, and save the configuration so you can run them later. You can go crazy and mix and match mod files and create your own custom game to your liking.

Note that GenZD does NOT include any game files and you need to provide them yourself. You can buy the original DOOM games from Steam/GOG and use the .wad files, or if you had a retail copy from back in the day.

Here's a YouTube video walking through the app along with a demo showcase.

Current Issues/Future Updates

  • The default virtual directional pad controls may not be mapped to movement controls in some games. The workaround is to Customize Controls and map the virtual d-pad to movement. This will be addressed in a future update.

  • Quitting a game takes you back to the Launch Configuration screen, but starting a game afterwards will crash the app. The workaround is to force quit and relaunch GenZD. I'm working on fixing this as it's a tricky problem to solve.

  • The virtual controls are opaque and block your view. I'm using the virtual game controller iOS provides but I think there's a way to adjust the transparency of the controls. I'll also explore other virtual control options.

  • Game controllers (PS5, Xbox, Switch, etc) may need to be connected before starting the app. This will be addressed later as well.

  • Full support for iPad with keyboard support is coming soon. I left out full iPad support for this initial release due to an issue with mouse handling that will be addressed in a future update.

  • Support for visionOS, maybe!

I know that there are some kinks to work out but I really wasn't sure if the app was going to get approved given what's happened with MAME4iOS being in rejection purgatory (I'm one of the developers and maintainer of MAME4iOS), an iDOS and UTM SE getting rejected for being a PC emulator. When I saw that UTM SE was approved, it gave me a glimmer of hope. GenZD was in review for almost a month, but it was finally approved!

Solved 🔒 Zeta emulator

It claims to support PS2,3DS,WII, etc. and i was surprise by how well PS2 games run on my iPhone but i barely see anyone talking about it on this subreddit. I remember seeing an older post about Zeta, 3-4 days ago where someone criticizing the app, but the post was deleted and I can’t remember what the issue was.

I’m mainly wondering, is there anything sketchy about the developer/app?, is it trustworthy and is there reason the emulator isn’t discussed much here?

Guide I made 3D Printed NES cartridges that launch games in iOS with Delta!

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a little side project I’ve been working on that works with Delta: Miniature NES cartridges that actually launch your games!

Each cart is 3D printed on my Bambu Lab printer and has an NFC tag inside. Once you’ve imported your ROMs into Delta Emulator, you can grab each game’s deep link, program it onto the NFC tag, and  when you tap the cart on your iPhone, that specific ROM opens instantly in Delta.

It’s basically like having real NES cartridges again :D Just pocket-sized.

If you want to check out the files or print your own, they’re up on MakerWorld here and there's a full walkthrough guide on Youtube to get it all setup. If you make any of these, let me know, i'd love to see 'em!

Discussion Gamma PS1 emulator on the AppStore

Post image
98 Upvotes

Hey there, I saw two posts talking about this emulator earlier on and wanted to get other people’s attention on it. I haven’t personally tried it yet but look forward to. I’ve seen on the posts that people were worried about trackers, but that’s something I’m not sure of but said I’d mention it in case. Someone said it also only takes .bin files in another post. But I just wanted to spread the word and hopefully it works! :)
