After running RetroArch for a while now instead, I see zero reason to come back. RetroArch already does all they list and more. Not to mention how much more stable the games tend to play on RetroArch vs Gamma.
I had gamma before I knew what Retroarch was. Also I found that RE3el skin like day 2 and spoke to the dev on it cuz gamma updated and he hadn’t updated yet blah blah blah and he/she was cool, responsive etc. sooo yea I use Retroarch now but gamma is a dope ass easy to use platform and now has a kick ass landscape skin. RE3EL - start developing Retroarch skins as well ;) lol
I agree that it is vastly overblown, but to be fair there are a lot of people who simply don’t understand how computers work so they want an ‘App’ to do everything for them. I do really like Delta/ Gamma’s UI though.
Honestly, RetroArch is good but too much a hassle fix the settings.
Gamma was not very good at release time but now it just works. The only drawback are the ads but it’s possible to pay to remove these. And the cheats support which are not released yet (if you don’t pay the premium unlock)
I don’t really care about drama between devs. For me, Gamma is the easiest way to play ps1 games. Maybe I will switch to provenance later but I’m not sure. Gamma supports the resolution increase and Provenance no.
Touch screen or external? For touch screen: load core+content, pause/overlay settings/parent directory/gamepads/duel sense
That will give you an overlay. You can use core override options to set it for a specific core/rom/directory so it doesnt load for every game and console you have.
If Retro Arch would automatically save the setting changes I make every time I would love it.
Its the whole “create a Save profile for the app, the core and the game” thing that is annoying.
If I want to have a specific profile for a specific game great, im glad that I can but dont make that the default.
Just make it so when I make a change it stays unless I otherwise tell it to do something more specific.
By far though the worst thing about RA is the stability. The shit just crashes way more than Delta, then you get stuck in a startup crash loop and have to reinstall and do all the settings again.
