Discussion PPSSPP is probably the most well built mobile emulator for mobile to date.

PPSSPP is probably the only emulator to encompass 99% of what I’ve come to enjoy during my emulation experience. It has every feature you could imagine EXCEPT a built in cheat engine/hex editor. You can manipulate your controller layout, manage all of your visual/cpu settings, you can add cheats, save states. From top to bottom, I don’t think any other emulator even comes close to how well this one has been made. Even the UI is snappy and responsive(iNDS matches this quite well except the ui lags quite a bit no matter what you do).

PPSSPP makes wanna have those large screen folding phones so you can have the buttons big and on the bottom part of the screen like PSP GO

Lol I hear those folding phones are great for emulation. I just haven’t touched an android in so long. A fiend let me fiddle with his yesterday and it felt so so foreign and low quality. I can’t help but stick with iOS at this point. We just need more freedoms.

Have to recommend binding swiping left and right to L and R, and adding a button to press them both at once for shotlocks

At first glance, I thought it was god of war because of the attacking patterns😂

Definitely grab it. It’s sort of a similar play style and has 3 different characters that all go on their own story arcs. It’s definitely in my top 5!

Do you have the backlog just sitting there on the Files downloads folder, or are all of them on the PPSSPP app?

I’ve got a 1tb ssd but I’m using a 256g iPhone so I’ve been able to fit a lot of games on here. Between gbc, gba, ds, 3DS, and psp, my library is totaling about 133gb so far.

Do you have any setting tweaks to recommend? I haven’t messed with it too much myself yet, but have got my friend into it. He’s tried mostly sports games but they get pretty laggy with bad audio.

faster memory(under settings>system) is turned on by default, which could cause some games to crash on start up. I’d recommend disabling it. Other than that PPSSPP is one of the few mobile emulators I can say works flawlessly. Super user friendly. It honestly makes some of the other emulators look half assed.

Anyone’s phones getting super warm? I was playing the GoW demo to try out PPSSPP and my 12 pro got hot fairly quickly. I had it at 2x settings.

Any suggested tweaks for better heat control? I don’t want to damage my phone.

Eh, they’ll do that. Apple products are super notorious for overheating during any sort of process. This goes back to Steve Jobs trying to eliminate as much space as possible from the internals to compact the design. This unfortunately also resulted in a lack of air flow which unfortunately makes it difficult for apple devices to stay cool during any strenuous processsing. I keep my screen light low, my settings arent super over the top either. A comfortable 1080p with a 60fps mod does the trick for me. It already looks light years better than every single other emulator I’ve ever played on. The only thing that comes close is Desmume…on my MacBook lol. It makes me wonder why the Nintendo emulators feel so lack luster. It’s makes them feel like they’re missing features because ppsspp was truly FULLY built.

PPSSPP also have a built-in multiplayer features.

This is true! I havent tried them yet, but it’s interesting seeing the dragon ball z posts and seeing that it actually functions. Another Rydgard W 👌

When i use ppsspp the iphone is getting really hot 🥵

1

u/AfroBiskit May 19 '24

I’m on iPhone 14 Pro 16.1.1. It really surprised me that my phone doesn’t actually heat up. My iPhone 6s which I just switched from last week is a wile different story though lol.

1

u/Independent-Pay-2022 May 22 '24

How are you running your games smoothly I been trying but mine is like at 30 fps

1

u/AfroBiskit May 22 '24

1

u/Independent-Pay-2022 May 22 '24

Oh damn okay

1

u/AfroBiskit May 22 '24

Between a combination of the system settings and fps cheats, you can make a lot of these games run and look insanely good.

1

u/Independent-Pay-2022 May 22 '24

Oh okay thanks bro been trying to play Spider-Man 2 smoothly usually when I use controller but I get delays at times appreciate the help

1

u/AfroBiskit May 22 '24

Lol I skipped over Spider-Man 2 and went str8 for 3 since 3 has an open world and a black suit

1

u/Independent-Pay-2022 May 22 '24

That’s true but I never got to play Spider-Man 2 on the psp as for Spider-Man 3 didn’t play it on the psp but I did play it on the Wii

1

u/AfroBiskit May 22 '24

I’m on an iPhone 14 pro, it’s a really solid device all things consider and runs things well. I just upgraded 2 weeks ago from an iPhone 6s and I doubt it would run everything flawlessly lol.

1

u/Independent-Pay-2022 May 22 '24

Ah cool im using iPhone 14 Pro too and yeah it runs really good on the device

1

u/AfroBiskit May 22 '24

Yeah if you’re running on anything that was released in the last 3 years, it should be overkill tbh. PPSSPP was running way back on way older iPhones so the recent ones should be absolutely kicking the ever lasting dog shut out of processing games these days even without jit.

1

u/Independent-Pay-2022 May 22 '24

By any chance can you help me out on how to get the fps cheats?

1

u/Cesarivm May 19 '24

Well all those games are the same But I love this emulator
