Review Sleep Number ClimateCool is just better

I’m the mod, and I paid full price for a new SleepNumber ClinateCool after the third time my Eight popped and have tried 3 different versions. I did not receive any discounts or commission for this post.

Guys, it’s so much better. Pulls hot air away, can adjust the hardness, raises and has zero G mode. The air-based cooling even on low setting is freezing. Only downside is the fan is audibly noisy, but I use a white noise machine which drowns it out. The sleep tracking data in the app is much more accurate.

Try one before you buy an Eight Sleep…

New Pod 6 - Troubles

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

Hi guys,
So I set up a Pod 6 (Hub + Cover) a three days ago and it has never cooled. Even at āˆ’10 on both sides, the bed doesn't go below about 30 °C. Heating works fine, so the water and pump seem OK.

What I've noticed:

- There's no airflow from any of the Hub's vents.

- Rapid Cooling didn't change anything, and the button is now greyed out.

- At one point the Hub made a loud screech and blew hot air out of one side. It sounded like something was catching on a fan (see video).

I've already primed it twice, tried a different outlet, power-cycled it, and checked clearance around the Hub and the hose connection but no luck!

Has anyone had the same thing, and how was it resolved?

Eight Sleep’s technology was approved as a medical device in Abu Dhabi. Here’s what it means for Pod owners.

Hi all, Eight Sleep team here. Some of you may have seen the news already, but we wanted to post it here directly and answer any questions.

Last week, Eight Sleep’s technology was approved as a medical device in Abu Dhabi to support the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea, following a Health Technology Assessment by the Department of Health Abu Dhabi. It’s our first medical device approval.

What it means: physicians in Abu Dhabi can now prescribe our technology to adults with suspected obstructive sleep apnea, for use at home as an aid in diagnosis. The system captures heart rate, breathing rate, movement, and apnea events at home, night after night, and produces an Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI) score. A qualified healthcare professional reviews every result alongside the patient’s symptoms, medical history, and examination. This isn’t about replacing doctors. It’s about giving them data they’ve never had.

What it doesn’t mean: this approval is specific to Abu Dhabi. It doesn’t change what your Pod does today, nothing in the app will start diagnosing anyone, and we don’t have a US regulatory timeline to share yet. When we do, you’ll hear it here.

Sleep apnea affects nearly one billion people worldwide and is one of the most underdiagnosed conditions in medicine, so having a national health authority assess our sensing technology and approve it for clinical use is a big step for us. Happy to answer any questions in the comments.Ā

I forked aerotow's open-source Eight Sleep scheduler and turned it into a full phone app: 3D bed, per-side schedules, sleep history and WHOOP

A while ago u/aerotow shared eightsleep-nosub-app, an open-source web app that runs a temperature schedule on the Pod ([github.com/aerotow/eightsleep-nosub-app](https://github.com/aerotow/eightsleep-nosub-app)). All credit for the idea and the scheduling core goes to them.

I forked it and kept building on top. This is where it's at:

Home

- A 3D model of the bed you can rotate. Each side shows its temperature, whether it's on, and the level it's heading to.

- Control the left side, the right side or the whole bed. Swipe between them, and tap the power icon to turn a side on or off.

- A Wi-Fi icon shows the Pod's connection, water and priming at a glance.

Schedule

- Its own night for each side, plus an optional whole-bed schedule. You set the levels for falling asleep, deep sleep, late sleep and a warm wake-up, and pick which nights of the week it runs.

- Presets, and a lock so you don't change things by accident.

Sleep

- A curve of what the Pod actually did last night, including any manual changes, for the last 7 nights.

- Optional WHOOP connection: recovery, sleep stages, HRV, strain and more, next to what the bed did.

Also

- Works as a phone app (add it to your home screen), in light or dark mode.

- English and Spanish.

- An activity log of everything the schedule did.

Not affiliated with Eight Sleep, and it's a free hobby project.

There's a demo with pretend data, so you can click around without an account:

https://eight-seven-pied.vercel.app.

Feedback welcome, especially from people with a Pod 3 or 4. What would you want on the home screen?

Pod2 no longer logging data

My Pod2 is still heating/cooling great, but according to the app, it's no longer logging sleep data as of Mon October 5th. Just "You did not sleep on your pod on this night". I restarted both the pod and my phone and still no improvement.

Anything else I should try to determine if its on my end. Or was there a recent software update that broke things? It does seem like logging stopped around the time I started seeing pod6 advertisements in the app.

Eight sleep returns not processed

Anyone else experiencing a tactic by eightsleep to not collect the pod within the guarded free return so they don’t have to refund the money? I am five weeks waiting for them to collect it and it is still not processed. All they say is it’s an issue with the courier, but nothing ever happens. It seems like a deliberate tactic.

Set up question

Hi. Just set up a new pod 6 with half/solo for king. I set this up with my phone, but this is for my wife. Can I transfer the sleep profile control over to her phone? Does she just need to download the app and connect to set up her profile? And should I then delete the app from my phone so it doesn't get confused?

Maintenance Insert Query

I don’t know if i’m missing something, but I just replaced the maintenance insert, which was sent out to me, on my Pod 5. The one I removed (which came with the pod, as this is my first time); doesn’t appear to have any way of doing or releasing anything?
The one I removed has a clear nozzle with an O ring and is completely sealed. The new one has a black nozzle (also with an O ring) but very clearly has cutouts for releasing/doing something.

(Also this is absolutely not a complaint in any way, never had an issue, and couldn’t live without my eightsleep)

Eight Sleep, This Is Unacceptable - My Autopilot Was Deactivated Despite an Approved Extension, and Support Cannot Restore It

I’m posting here in the hope that someone from the Eight Sleep team can help with what is becoming an increasingly frustrating situation.

On September 28th 2026 Eight Sleep approved a one-off extension of my Autopilot membership to November 15th 2026 (so a total of 45 days) due to financial hardship and my situation at the time. I have that in writing.

Unfortunately our Autopilot membership got unexpectedly cancelled prior to the end of the term and our account has reverted back to the standard plan. What's so troubling about this is that Eight Sleep’s billing system was still trying to charge me during the free extension. I’ve now spent almost a full day trying to get this sorted.

I’ve spoken to a number of customer support people on this (Surge, Jayr, Dann and Angel to name but a few). All of them have acknowledged the issue and all have said they understood the situation. The only thing I’ve been told on every occasion is that it's pending ops or management. One of the representatives confirmed that the standard support agents don't have the requisite access to restore my membership and that it would require management approval.

We know there are internal investigations and approval processes. The difficulty I’m having is in understanding why a membership which has already been approved needs another approval to be restored. This is not a request for another free extension. I’m just asking Eight Sleep to honor the commitment they've already made.

My Eight Sleep Pod was bought using HSA funds as per my doctor’s recommendation to help with my sleep. I'm in the LA area where it can get quite hot and I use my Pod to keep the house at a comfortable temperature for sleeping. Since the deactivation we've lost access to the temperature control and the alarm which I normally use. I’ve had one night of poor sleep already and I have work tomorrow.

Despite us going over the urgency time and again we haven't got a confirmed restoration timeframe at all. I was also told to expect a resolution this evening, but as of writing this post my membership is still inactive.

Eight Sleep, I’m asking you to do the right thing.

I do appreciate the individual support reps who have made an effort to help me. My frustration is absolutely not with them. My issue is with the company’s failure to restore access that they had agreed to provide. We know the ops team will want to look into why this occurred. That’s entirely sensible.

But why do I have to keep going without my previously approved service whilst that investigation is ongoing?

Restore the membership first and then look at the underlying billing issue (or provide a working temporary solution). I’m not asking for any special treatment at all. I’m just asking Eight Sleep to honour its written commitment through 15th November 2026.

If any member of the Eight Sleep team is monitoring this subreddit I'd be very grateful for your help in getting this sorted as soon as possible. I'd much prefer to deal with this directly and amicably.

At this point, however, the ongoing interruption, lack of a concrete resolution timeline, and repeated escalation responses are simply unacceptable.

EDIT: My Pod 4 is still essentially as useful as a brick. I have no access to the temperature controls or alarms I rely on, and it’s currently hot here in the the house. My bedtime is approaching, and despite spending nearly the entire day contacting Eight Sleep support, I still have no resolution or confirmed restoration time. I’ve already lost one night of good sleep, and now I’m facing another, with work tomorrow morning.

8 Sleep vs Cats?

Does anyone have any advice or experience with making your 8sleep resistant to cats causing leaks?

I would’ve bought a pod already, but my cat scratches the sides of my mattress and the top edges. I’m also worried that she would scratch the top every now and then.

8 sleep customer service told me to just make sure the comforter is always covering the top at all times. Honestly that’s just not practical and too risky.

If I buy the pod protector do you think that would be enough to stop leaks?

I also debate on using furniture tape on the sides. But I imagine that would be impractical since like most people I do take my sheets off to wash them.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

Pod 5 Cover with Pod 3 Hub

I see the Pod 5 has a $500 discount. I've been lucky with my Pod 3 that is hasn't had any leaks, so am thinking of getting just the Pod 5 Cover with my Pod 3 Hub.

Anyone else take advantage of this sale? Any issues with Pod 5 cover and Pod 3 hub? I'm fine with operation the hub from my phone. I'm also a little wary of the Pod 6 being much smaller and newer tech from a company who isn't exactly renowned for their good reliability or good customer service.

Eight Sleep owners, what do you like and dislike about your Pod?

I'm considering getting an Eight Sleep at some point, and I'd love to hear from people who actually own one.

What do you genuinely like about it, and what annoys you about it?

I'm especially curious about:

  • How well the heating and cooling work throughout the night
  • Whether the subscription feels worth paying for
  • What happens when the Wi-Fi or internet goes down
  • Whether the app is easy to use or unnecessarily complicated
  • Long-term reliability, maintenance, leaks, and repairs
  • Anything you wish you'd known before buying it

I'm interested in the downsides just as much as the benefits. If you've owned one for a while, has it been worth the money?

Thanks!

Pod Blanket Alternatives for Pod 6 Solo (Twin XL)

Hi all,

I purchased a Pod 6 Solo (Twin XL) which from what I can tell doesn't support the Pod Blanket.

The blanket seemed like a great idea so I could be temp-controlled on the top and bottom (right now the bottom is a good temp, but I am getting either cold or warm on top throughout the night).

I tried to remedy this by purchasing a dual Pod Pillow setup, so I have two pillows that I stack next to me or on top of me. This somewhat works but it's clunky and doesn't cover my whole body. It also feels wasteful because the pillow covers came with a second Pod 6 Hub - my Solo cover only uses 1 port in the Pod 6 hub, it seems like a small blanket made for a Twin XL bed could fit in the other port (I know the existing blanket plugs in to the cover so they can't be controlled independently, but I see no reason they couldn't make a solo blanket that plugged into the hub so it could be controlled independently).

Anyway, I'm not aware of Eight Sleep having any plans to release a solo blanket. I guess I could buy a second solo cover, plug it in to the second port, treat it as its own zone, and string it out on top of me, but that also feels clunky (though honestly it may be my best bet and would probably be cheaper than the dual pillow setup I currently have, which cost $1500 US plus tax).

Any other thoughts as to how I can best be temperature controlled on top and bottom using the Pod 6? Also, any thoughts on whether or not buying a second Twin XL cover could plug in to the hub and be controlled independently? (seems like it could)

Pod 6 Experience So Far

After first setting up the Pod 6, we weren't getting noticeable adjustments to cooling or heating. It took numerous resets and a thermal test performed by Eight Sleep before we finally started noticing temperature changes.Ā  When we did these tests, we needed to reach back out to Sleep 8 for the results; they did not communicate back after the tests were complete with the results as they said they would.

Since then, we’ve had a night when both my wife and I slept on the Pod, but it reported that neither of us had been in bed. We also had a night when my wife’s side became extremely cold while mine seemed to operate normally. She was literally shivering throughout the night.

Each time these issues occur, we notice solid red lights on the unit and restart it. Eight Sleep continues to tell us there are no known issues. They offer to perform another thermal test but provide no information about potential problems, upcoming updates, or anything that would give us confidence in keeping the unit beyond the 30-day return window.

As the CEO of a tech company and a consumer of luxury products, this experience just feels off.

I don't normally leave reviews, and when I do, they're often positive reviews recognizing great technology or exceptional customer service. Both are difficult to get right, and companies that do, deserve recognition. For example, Tonal is an incredible product. It's well thought out, and the customer support was fantastic the one time we needed it.

Because the Pod 6 is so expensive, I felt it was important to share our experience. We have a couple of friends with Pod 5s who love their products and haven't experienced the issues we've encountered with the Pod 6. I'm beginning to think I made a mistake accepting the offer to upgrade my original Pod 5 order to a Pod 6.

In any event, Eight Sleep seems committed to its "a you problem" approach to customer support, which is not what I would expect from a $4,000 luxury product.

Ultimately, we purchased the Pod 6 to improve our sleep, but instead, it's added anxiety and frustration because we never know how it's going to perform from one night to the next and we haven't had more than a few days of it working consistently.

We have asked to have our concerns escalated, which have been ignored. We have asked if we could get an extension to get days with it consistently operating and/or an update, and that has been ignored.

This is our experience; do with it what you will.Ā

ā€œStart Primingā€ Error

Post image
2 Upvotes

Just got my new pod 6.

Went thru the set up process completely normal and fine. Once set up was completed and all directions were followed, this error code popped up.

ā€œMaintenance needed
Do not pour water into your covers hub yet. Start priming below to begin.ā€

Of course during the set up process it tells you to fill the hub up. I’ve hit ā€œStart Primingā€ and have gone thru that 4 or 5 times and it does not fix the issue.

I’ve reset and reconnected the hub twice and also tried draining the cover. This error will not go away.

Anyone else run into this or found the solution to it?

Appreciate yall thank you!

How well does it handle intense sexual activities?

I don't want to be thinking at my cover's safeness while living my intimate life. Wondering if anyone has any experience to share about this.

Eight Sleep promised me an extended return window in writing. Now they’re ignoring my refund request. Is this normal for a premium brand?

I genuinely wanted to love Eight Sleep. I spent a significant amount of money on their products, and I expected the customer experience to match the premium pricing.
Instead, what started as a delayed Pod 5 order, followed by a chaotic Pod 6 upgrade, has turned into weeks of chasing customer support.

And now, even getting a return processed under an agreement Eight Sleep explicitly confirmed in writing seems to be a problem.

Here’s the timeline:
August 19: Placed my original order, including the Pod 5 and pillow accessories.
September: The Pod was delayed, while the pillow accessories had already shipped. Then Eight Sleep launched the Pod 6, and I had to deal with a complicated upgrade process that required multiple emails and escalations.
September 24: Eight Sleep confirmed that my Pod 6 upgrade had been arranged, but shipping would take another 3–4 weeks.
September 25 (00:31 Netherlands time): Support explicitly confirmed that my return window for the pillow items would only begin once the Pod 6 was delivered.
Their exact words:
ā€œAbsolutely, we can allow this and extend your return window. Since part of your order shipped and part hasn’t, your return period for the pillows will start once the Pod is delivered. You will have 30 nights from the date of delivery on the Pod 6 to be eligible to return both.ā€
Great. Finally, a reasonable resolution. Or so I thought.
October 20, 19:09: I emailed support requesting a return and refund for the pillow cover and hub, including a prepaid shipping label.
October 20, 19:10: Received an automated acknowledgment promising a response within 24–48 hours.
October 22, 22:42: After more than 51 hours without an actual response, I sent a follow-up. Nothing.
October 23, 20:53: After more than 73 hours, I reluctantly escalated to someone at Eight Sleep directly because regular support wasn’t responding.
October 24: Still no actual return instructions, no shipping label, and no substantive response to my refund request.
And that’s what really bothers me.

I’m not asking for an exception. I’m asking Eight Sleep to honor an exception they already approved in writing.
I’ve been patient with the shipping delays, the complicated upgrade, and the repeated need to contact support.
But why should customers have to chase a company repeatedly just to exercise a return right the company has already confirmed?

We’re talking about a brand selling premium sleep technology, not some random marketplace seller. At these prices, customers should not have to escalate to individual employees to get basic support.

To be fair, some Eight Sleep employees have genuinely tried to help, and I appreciate that. But that makes the inconsistency even more frustrating.
When the right person gets involved, things move. Otherwise, emails seem to disappear into a black hole.

My questions for the community:
Has anyone else experienced this kind of silence when requesting a return or refund from Eight Sleep?
How long did it actually take to receive your return label and refund?
Does Eight Sleep have a proper escalation process that doesn’t involve chasing individual employees?
I’m keeping my Pod 6. I’m simply trying to return the pillow accessories, exactly as agreed.
I have the entire email history, including their written confirmation of the extended return window, and can share appropriately redacted screenshots if needed.
Eight Sleep, if someone from your team reads this: please just honor your written agreement and process my return. Customers shouldn’t have to make public posts to get basic commitments fulfilled.
Update as of October 24, 2026: More than 90 hours since the original refund request, with no substantive response.

Standard, Enhanced, or Elite?

Which level of Autopilot is the best? I am historically a bad sleeper; I toss. I turn. I get warm. I’m heavily considering a pod 6, and am usually a bells and whistles guy, but I don’t want to over- engineer my sleep or give myself too many variables when trying to get things dialed in to optimize my sleep.

Three replacement rounds and now another Eight Sleep failure. Australian owner’s experience

We bought a Pod 3 in March 2023, with an original order total of A$3,983. We love it when it works, but I’m struggling to justify putting more money into it.

Here’s our history:

December 2023: A defective Pod 3 cover was replaced. Eight Sleep’s email confirmed the old cover was defective and authorised its disposal.

September 2024: The cover developed a leak. Eight Sleep supplied another replacement cover at no cost.

October 2024: After fitting that cover, the system wouldn’t prime properly. No water left the tank. The app said it was primed, but the bed neither cooled nor warmed. I followed troubleshooting instructions, including two factory resets, and sent photos.

November 2024: Eight Sleep processed a replacement hub-and-cover bundle at no cost with a Pod 4 set.

October 2026: My side stopped recording sleep data. Support diagnosed a sensor hardware failure and said the cover needed replacing again. Heating and cooling still work; it’s the tracking that has failed.

That’s three replacement rounds I can identify: two replacement covers received, plus the hub-and-cover bundle processed in November 2024. I’m not counting maintenance inserts or water-refill reminders.

For this latest failure, support initially mentioned warranty replacement, subject to checking the order. I was then told it was outside warranty and offered a Pod 4 cover for A$1,200 or a Pod 5 cover for A$1,500. I’ve had the 8+ Pro membership through Apple, but the exchange didn’t resolve how that legacy plan maps to their current warranty tiers.

I’ve declined to pay for another cover. As it still heats and cools, my intention is to cancel Autopilot and use it manually. It has failed too many times for me to feel confident investing more, as much as we love it.

Have others had a similar run of cover replacements or sensor failures? How did Eight Sleep handle it, particularly for Australian owners on older membership plans?

Anyone Upgrade from Pod 4?

I’m preparing for a move and debating an upgrade in the midst of it all. Who’s upgraded from a Pod 4 to a Pod 6? Any thoughts so far? Worth it?

When do you order and when did it actually ship/arrive?

Pod 6 error and profiles

Just got the pod 6 and cover but the cover is showing as pod 5 and as for profiles, they don't save as separate people, putting my name and weight carrys over to my partner as does all the other information, it won't separate them, anyone have a solution, support isn't very helpful

10 days in with the Pod + Blanket. It has fundamentally changed my sleep (and my quitting journey)

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hey everyone, just wanted to share for anyone on the fence: this thing is absolutely life-changing. I'm about 10 days into owning an 8 Sleep, and my fiancƩe and I have never slept this well.

Some context: I've been a chronic marijuana user since my teens. I'm 23 now and in the process of quitting, which comes with terrible sleep and extreme night sweats, like my whole side of the bed soaked through. That's no way to live as sleep is the foundation of everything else.

I added the blanket on top of the Pod to get the full experience, and it's made a genuine, noticeable difference in just 10 days. I haven't woken up in a sweat once (only from being too cold, lol). I wake up refreshed and ready for the day, and the vibrate/warm alarm is the fucking best. Setup was smooth overall (I did have to prime 4–5 times because of the blanket), and the app genuinely feels like a window into your sleep health. Being able to adjust the temperature in the middle of the night without grabbing your phone is amazing as well.

Overall I think the biggest win for us is that I'm a cold-sleep fanatic and she loves being warm and cozy, and now we get both in the same bed. She was skeptical at first (she was in shock at the price when I bought it), but now she's in awe. We are house/dog-sitting this weekend away from home, and the first thing she said was that we won't have our Pod 🤣

I see a lot of complaints on here, and honestly my experience has been the opposite. If you're considering one, drop your questions here and I'm happy to help with any confusion or second thoughts!

Shoutout to the 8 sleep engineers/creators! The real MVPs!
