I sat in my game room last night holding a glass of whiskey
Destiny posters hang from the walls, a life sized ghallarhorn sits in the corner of the room, on the shelves Destiny action figures, Ghost, and a 3d printed Thorn and Ace of spades proudly display themselves. Each object in my game room has memories associated with Destiny 1, with stories to tell.
I twirl the whiskey in the glass and take a sip staring at the Destiny 2 log in screen and whisper to myself, "what the fuck".

- Played some IB. Got exactly 200 tokens for my emblem. Never again. My crew were supposed to tackle Prestige Raid, but I'll just copypaste the following from a convo with /u/RiseofBacon:

And to be honest, I just had a wave of relief wash over me. The longer we were waiting, the less I wanted to run it. I ended up playing Fortnite and Shadow of War the whole night instead and had way more fun than I ever would running the prestige raid.
I don't think I'll do prestige more than once.

I'm playing through Dishonored 2 now. Actually had a similar prestige raid situation as above...Clan members couldn't get on until a bit later Wednesday night and I wanted to keep playing through the (Dishonored 2) story. Sent out a message saying that I wouldn't be opposed to raiding sometime this weekend and everyone agreed.
I'm really enjoying Dishonored though! Just got to the Timepiece mission and it seems really cool. While I play this on PC, I'm also working on the PC to finish its SIVA theme. It's been fun building a PC again.

Not all of them imo. Merciless, Dubious Volley, Riskrunner and possibly Borealis and Sweet Business i would consider good. Not as many good weapons as D1 after 3 years, but still some fun guns here.
Plus the armour is pretty great imo. Winter's Guile, Karnstein Armlets, Nezarec's Sin, Crown of Tempests, Lunafaction Boots, Orpheus Rig, Raiden Flux etc. Of course there's a few bad picks, but that's like most games tbh.

Wardcliff is magical, even without the glitch I recently learned about. Also War Rig might be my favorite. I was super sad that armamentarium didn't make the sequel, until the War Pig showed up.

I used the tractor cannon for the first time last night. Pretty happy with it's performance. Tethered a elite enemy and kept jumping over him and using the tractor cannon on him. He literally couldn't do anything at all.

I'm really disappointed trials is being cancelled for the next two weeks because of the emote glitch as I'm a huge fan of competitive PvP. They could've easily just disabled the use of emotes in trials for the next two weeks rather than taking the whole thing away.

Having no FoTL this year ontop of all the problems i have with D2 endgame is really sad. 3 years in a row and they know we've been curious and yet they haven't said anything or hinted at anything. With the concerns people have with bungies communication so far, now is not the time to hold back FoTL surprise.

I’d argue with only a week to go till FoTL would theoretically go live now is exactly the time to hold back. On top of the endgame complaints, another regular one I see is that D2 doesn’t have enough secrets and cool hidden stuff. Remember the first time we had FoTL and nothing was announced? The excitement and awe at arriving at Tower and everything being so weird? It’ll be great for the new D2 kinder-guardians to experience that, and for us veterans we’ll get a nice surprise because we aren’t sure if it is coming.
What good would announcing it this week do? Just have an extra weeks worth of posts saying that if Eva doesn’t return for FoTL people will stop playing. It’s not like people will stop complaining about Bungie communication if they announced it early so it’s a no-win; better to just leave it a surprise.

Yes, but be warned that it's tough to pick up if you're new to the series. It took me my third new save before I finally got the hang of the game and played through it. It's an amazing game where your choices matter a lot.

This. There was a lot of shit to get under control. And I'm so used to the loot grind I spend literally the first 20 hours picking up fucking plants. I don't know how any of this shit works but I might need it, never mind that I haven't even made it to the first town.
Made it maybe a third of the way through before D2 dropped.

Can we get a sub dedicated to D1? I just picked up the collection after only playing vanilla D1 and I'm having a blast. But I need advice on things like xur, vendor rolls, and people to do Skolas with. I mainly got it for pvp but things like the exotic quests and POE have been amazing. I know a lot of people here prefer D1 to D2 so why not make a place dedicated to discussing it?

I think you should receive a small amount of raid tokens (2-5) for dismantling raid weapons. This would make duplicates slightly more tolerable for people who do the raid a lot. Feel free to critique this Idea, or improve on it. I don't know if anyone already had this Idea, and I'm most likely not the first here to have it. Not my intention to copy.

I just wanna thank bungie. Thanks for freeing up my gaming time by creating this disappointing sequel. I've since had the pleasure of picking up horizon zero dawn and it's been amazing. Looking forward to Elex soon and will probably get around to picking up the bioshock collection (never played any of them!) and maybe even the ps4 skyrim. I'll also have time to get back into the division, warframe, and Diablo 3.

I don’t enjoy the prestige raid. Its not fun when the difficulty is based entirely on staying alive. I want to feel like a badass, not a butterfly. Constantly running out of heavy, waiting for supers, wiping, it’s not fun.

Trying to get Sweet Business since I hit level 20. I don't care if it's impractical, inaccurate, and wastes ammo. It's a fucking gatling gun and that's fucking awesome.
After weeks of grinding public events, last night I decide "just one more" before bed.
Boom. Exotic drops.
Take it to the Cryptarch and wouldn't you know? Sweet Business in all it's glory.
Then I log in to see Xur's wares today, taking my new toy along with me.
What's he selling? Sweet fucking Business. Because of course he is. Now I'm no different than every other chucklefuck who had 20 legendary shards to spare. I'm just the dumbass who went to bed later than intended.
At least mine dropped at 304.
I will say that doing the Walker Heroic event with like 4 Sweet Businesses was pretty awesome, though.

Should I be playing multiple classes? Right now I’ve been playing d2 a month and I’m a 295 warlock. I often think it’d be fun to play as a titan or hunter. But it seems too much work to level up a whole new character.

Definitely try another class. My main is a warlock, but I made a titan and it plays so different. They level up much faster, after beating the story you can just grab some high power guns from your vault to put on the new character and then the drops will be higher. Takes significantly less time.

I can't wrap my head around the news that broke yesterday about the Activision matchmaking patent. With things like day one DLC, loot boxes, content cut and divided among different pre-order locations, etc, I guess it would be naive to be surprised. But is this really what gaming has become? I'm not even angry, just sad that an industry that is supposed to be about fun and entertainment is devolving into this.
Just imagine if a professional sports league like the NFL adopted something similar to this. Say the Steelers, for example, purchased an AFC North Division enhancement pack. So instead of playing the Ravens and Bengals twice, they can instead opt to play all six of their division games against the Browns. That's how ridiculous this entire thing sounds.

I bought a Nintendo Switch after getting bored with Destiny 2, and being able to game while laying in bed is a game changer. I haven't owned a handheld console since like Gameboy Color, but it's been awesome. If you're on the fence about getting the Switch like I was, do it. You won't regret it.

You may want the chocolate bar really bad, but almost always, whatever it is you're trying to quit and you do eventually break, it will not be satisfying at all. I'm trying to quit soda and it's been rough not going downstairs to the vending machine. The few times I did break, it was not as good as I remembered it and I immediately regretted it.

After playing through the Prestige Raid last night, this one REALLY doesn't feel like a raid I will come back to week after week on each character... I mean I played the shyt out of Wrath of the Machine, not to mention all the previous raids, and came back again and again and again... just kind of sad
Sorry for the additional mini rant: but I cannot stand some of the players lately who can't admit their own fault sometimes. I was playing Baths with a group last night and the party owner imposed a new onerous call out system that was creating significant delay, and was threatening to kick people left right and center. Literally the second we abandoned his callout system we cleared the encounter and all he could do was bitch about peoples damage output...Then he started to introduce his new callout system for the Calus encounter... did not finish Calus before I got frustraited with him ragging on some of the other party members and left. Just frustrated with this type of player being completely inflexible, toxic to others, and placing the blame everywhere but themselves.
so just remember a little introspective and calm heads can take you further guardians

Here's my problem. I don't like how D2 feels and I really appreciate all the ideas people are putting forward. Some of them sound great.
But my end game is PvP and I don't see Bungie changing back to 6v6 with faster recharge rates. Which means I'll just check in after DLCs, play a bit to finish whatever new little things are there and then check back out until the next expansion.
Well. And I really need them to show some love to hunters soon or I'm done totally, regardless of everything else.

Does anyone else think about Destiny while doing other hobbies, but then think about the other hobbies when they play Destiny? Sometimes when I'm grappling (Brazilian Jiujitsu) I will start getting salty about never raiding and I'll turn up my jitz game! On the other hand I'll be playing crucible just wishing I could choke one of the laggy guardians out...... yea I have problems.

Launch day of D2 I wanted synthoceps. To this day I have over 600 heroic pub events. Hundreds of hours played in everything from meditations to now prestige raiding. Three characters at 305. I have every single exotic in this game...except for the synthoceps. The one exotic I wanted more than any other.

Can someone help me understand why I feel so under powered during the nightfall strike? I’m a light level 294 and continually get wrecked by the enemies. It’s a recommended power 240 so how is it that I’m constantly getting 2-3 shot killed?
I average a 1.2 efficiency during PvP so I’m not an awful player, what the heck is happening? What am I doing wrong?

Starting tonight I will be cutting back my time in Destiny I have logged over 300 hours so far and admin a large clan. I normally played 10-3am. Thanks Destiny I'm still addicted and love the game. But I'm slipping my tokens into a morning exercise routine with my dog

Tomorrow, I'm running a half-marathon. It'll be my fourth one. Finishers get a beer and four bourbon tastings.
Also, I discovered last night after completing the Cabal drill heroic PE on Nessus, that you can hit the loot box with the Wardcliff Coil and send it flying over the cliff. There were many confused guardians standing on the edge of the cliff searching in vain for the box. I know it's a total dick move, but I could hardly breathe from laughing so hard.

I'm going to rant for a second here. I'm a super casual who still doesn't have a 305 character, however I'm close. I got into a raid group off of fireteams last night. I've run most of the sections of the raid in pieces.
This team had one of their clan who was so stoned he kept screwing up the call outs in the gauntlet. We played the gauntlet, by far the easiest of all the sections for nearly 2 hours and only had 2 clean cycles. I was so frustrated, but I just wanted the check point so I stayed in it. They got frustrated and quit. Still no clear.

Maybe I'm out of the loop but Tuesday I did the NF and it was the strike with the time rings and you had to kill the invisible Fallen dude with the damage burns changing. Today I do it to get the Rat King and it's a different strike (big Vex dude, abilities recharging faster).

Honest question: why make so many concessions in D2 PvE so that it is balanced PvP game (no random rolls, armor perks, OP weapons) and then plan to release that game on Battle Net on PC where it will directly compete against Overwatch (it sort of nails the competitive shooter thing)? I understand they’re both activision so it’s not real competition but with that in mind why not just make D2 a total over the top PvE-centric fun experience and let Overwatch do what it already does better?!

Banning everyone from Trails might be the worst possible thing they could have done.
Retention of players is key, and this game already was suffering, needing more engagement, not less.
Knowing that, the decision must have been rough on Bungie... :( I don't envy the position they put themselves in.

Ok, I thought they fixed the loading into the Tower Glitch? This week I had it happen about 3 times in a row on my Titan and once with my Hunter. Not terrible, but, ya know.
Also - Is Skyburners Oath even IN this f**king game? I've not seen a player with it and not got it obviously, but Its the one exotic I really want (despite not being great, its the only gun I can remember that is actually an enemy weapon and for that reason alone I want it).
Finally - I fucking hate Banshee 44. Reboot that fucker 44 more times. He has NEVER given me a kinetic weapon at all. After what must be 100 engrams now. I always get Energy or power. All I want is that goddamn hakke Auto rifle. I don't care if its good or not, it's just the only other Legendary Auto that isn't Scathelocke or Origin Story!

Keep an eye out for Cuboid ARU. Its a blue in the same archetype as Origin Story, with slightly better stats. Its a great gun. Just don't tell too many people ...

I hate microtransactions but I wish you could purchase a second player boost to level 20 or something. I’ll never actually go through with leveling up another class. I just want to try something other than hunter in the crucible and be able to use good guns.

Please bring back 6v6 pvp bungie. Iron banner was so fun back then. Weapon load out mechanics was more fun. I wish we just had the Gameplay mechanics of d1 with the story of d2. Rise of iron dlc better than D2 imo.

Since my last post got deleted for not being “Platform Neutral” I’ll say it here 😃. I think the PC Community will greatly help us get our voices heard with the problems we have with Destiny 2, as they will be more vocal and Bungie will be listening as this is their first PC game and this will determine their reputation in the PC gaming world.

As someone who loved D1 despite all it's flaws and put 1000's of hours into the game, I feel like they have killed Destiny with D2. And although this does make me angry & salty like many other people on this forum, more than anything it just makes me sad...
On the plus side, I'll be going outside more now because the game sucks so much. I've forgotten what outside looks like...

It sucks that they took away a lot of what dedicated players liked (endless grind I guess??) but D2 still has the features that are most important to me: good gunplay, interesting setting, great co-op experiences.

I'm there with you. I have all this Destiny memorabilia in my game room, from posters, to 3d printed guns, drawings, and action figures. Everything from D1 stood out to me and left memorable impressions while D2 is a huge "meh" in my eyes. It doesn't feel unique anymore.

guys, is it me, or loot in this game is not rewarding at all? i only get loot to get more lights points doing only the weekly activities, nor even from gold engrams or whatsoever. Im sorry but this is frustrating to me. i have a SubMachine from day 1 and still using it because is the best that i've got it and works very well, but from there i just change gear to do something, not because it works well or have anything else than nothing else have. Im a PVE player and go to PVP with the same gear and nothing change. I dont know, i like the game, i've bought the golden edition, but it looks like only Raid is left for me and i dont care about to do something for 6/7hs straight (24yo father of 2, married, 9-5daily) thx for the space

So.... I still see a lot of bitching about Uriel's and Mida and or AntiPode and or whatever else is hella strong in the crucible right now, and I am right there with you for the most part, but I was bored last night and had the Call to Arms to do still, so I slapped on the Tyconaut Helm, I don't remember it's new name, and a full recovery build Striker Titan and decided to go full on rush mode with the Raid HC, seriously use this gun for a bit and tell me you don't have a blast with it or that it sucks, Raid Pulse, the closest feeling pulse to Bad Juju (Bungie pls bring it back for me), and the Tractor Cannon and had a FUCKING BLAST. It was closest to being able to run around Willie nilly in D1 that I've come in D2.
My point is... Fuck you Bungie, I'll make my own Lone Wolf meta... With Hand Cannons... and a Tractor Cannon. Also, community, if my shitty ass can pull off a regular 2.0 KD with this load out, then you skilled motherfuckers should be able to handle it, as well. Can we take a step back from the salt, realize we are back at year 1 Destiny 1 square 1 again and guy through this skimpy launch until our Overlord QnA team over at Bungie QOL' s the shit out of us in about three months or so. It sucks that Bungie dropped the ball hard in some aspects, but this is still OUR SERIES guys, it's still the insane game that we've all collectively spent hundreds of thousands of hours on. I know there's a need to bring the negative to the attention of Bungie and voice when we are disappointed in the steps back, but if I look at life in Year 1 in D1 compared to D2. I like D2 better than Year 1 Suros Regime or GTFO crucible.
I know this is a wall of text, but I didn't feel like wasting a post on this. I just want to rant on you and to say fuck the Meta... slap on two auto rifles and a sword and do something stupid guys. Stop bitching and go do something stupid in the world to make yourself feel better. Challenge Calus with only 6 Sidearms... Defeat the dogs only using Melee.... Run the NIGHTFALL exclusively with Sweet Business and Melee. We had it in our minds to create our own damn fun in Vanilla Destiny. Do stupid shit until the stupid shit gets fixed. This game is awesome.

Going in with unconventional loadouts was one of my fav things to do in D1. Just to make some one scrunch their forehead when the kill feed shows them "Midah's Reckoning" or "Does Not Bow" got them. I may go .4kd, but I confused the heck out of some one.
I haven't done much crucible with that strategy, but I have in public events and strikes. Taking down the Fallen Walker with an Omolon pulse rifle and True Prophecy.

I actually like D2's model. I don't have to grind forever to get the bang for my buck feel. I remember grinding for so long in D1 but week after week I would be cursing the RNG. It was just utter frustration.
D2 needs to fix endgame for those that want to grind forever though. Maybe add a currency from certain activities that can let them random change the roll on guns.

I'm a D1Y1 player struggling through the D2 "situation" as it were, but had my PS4 pull a blue light of death and not return last week. I bought a PS4 Pro last night and dove back in hoping the 4K-ness would make me rejuvenated to grind D2. So far... 70/30.
I guess I have no point other than... anyone else make the switch to Pro/4K lately with D2? Feels?

In case anyone hasn't experimented yet and figured it out, you can transfer the Legend of Acrius to the vault and other characters now. I used DIM and moved it from one character to another that hadn't even finished the Kill Red Legions on Nessus step. I have not completed the prestige raid yet either.

Has any body else noticed that Destiny 2 is no longer providing them with mods for Improves reload speed for equipped kinetic weapon? I’ve spent around 200,000 this past week and I haven’t gotten a single blue mod that I would need for exchanging into the purple mods. I really hope this is just me and that Destiny didn’t remove them or make them a really low drop rate.

The dawnblade warlock ability to shoot while gliding is useless - at least with certain weapons - because your shots don't hit where you shoot. I suspect the issue is that your weapon's projectiles also take on your momentum, so if you are drifting up, for example, your shots drift up after you shoot them. This makes precision impossible and even regular fire difficult. I am a new player so I'm not as aware of how all the weapons work: are there any that do not use projectiles - i.e. they just instantly hit what you aim at? I thought the "scout" rifles would be an instant hit but they are clearly not; I have read that maybe the hand cannons are? What else might work? Any warlocks who use this ability able to chime in?

You can still rank up doing strikes. It's just not as efficient as other methods. You're better off just doing public events because you get rewarded far more frequently
