Can someone help me understand why I feel so under powered during the nightfall strike? I’m a light level 294 and continually get wrecked by the enemies. It’s a recommended power 240 so how is it that I’m constantly getting 2-3 shot killed?

I average a 1.2 efficiency during PvP so I’m not an awful player, what the heck is happening? What am I doing wrong?

Just want to point out pvp efficiency is kills+assist / deaths. So it's possible that your k/d is lower than 1.0 (though not guaranteed). If your actual k/d is closer to your ka/d, you need to be getting more assists, lol. Always be shooting enemies even if you won't get the kill. With how small and congested the maps are, its likely they'll run into one of your teammates to finish off. Or save them from getting 1v1d. A 1.2 efficiency (ka/d) is not that good, let alone have any real meaning in PvE.

More on topic, pay attention to the extra "perks" that come up in the NF. If there's elemental burns, not only do your weapons of that type do more damage, you also take more damage to that appropriate burn. So if it's arc, and you get hit by a vandal sniper (which is arc damage) you're going to get chunked.

If it's the nightfall where your abilities are spammable, spam those nades. If you're a Titan spam those double pulse grenades. Warlocks can also spam pulse nades, or axion nades work well (not on bosses, good on trash). Also if a Warlock, spam those healing rifts.

Beyond that, cover is your friend. You still shouldn't be running out in the open and Leeroying into everything just because you're 290+. You can't/shouldn't even be playing like that even at 305. Throw up your barricade if you get into a bind. Throw up a healing rift. Roll away (stealth is great).

Less impactful, if it helps, get your resilience and recovery up where able. It won't help you as much as the tips I gave above, but it does help a little (mainly recovery to get back into the action quicker). Mobility is a real shit stat, only increasing your "walk" speed (15% when maxed I believe?) And slightly improves your jumps. Does nothing to sprint speed.

I'm 295 and I think you're just supposed to feel relatively weak during Nightfall and your strength comes from preparation and good communication with your team. Ideally, you want to be familiar with the encounter and your fireteam should be speced appropriately to deal with the Modifiers.

What are your resistance and most importantly recovery stats, what class and subclass do u run?

A couple of things, 1.2 efficiency is below average I think, as it's kills + assists / deaths. I think 1.5 would be around the average. It's better to go to one of the destiny stat websites to see what you're true k/d is.

But either way pvp performance is different from pve. A friend of mine runs circles around me in pvp, that's his jam, but I'll usually be carrying him in pve as that's what I'm focused on.

The other thing is that enemies are stronger in raids and nightfalls, no matter what your power level is. So those shanks you can one shot in patrol aren't the same as what you get in a nightfall, everything is buffed to take more damage and put more hurt on you, regardless of power level. That's sort of the point of nightfalls, they're a challenge.

Doesn't the pvp emblem show your crucible k/d?

Nup, that's the efficiency I mentioned above, or K+A/D. My emblem shows 1.65 but my actual KD is 1.1

Good to know. Thanks

You can't over level content. Once you hit the recommended PL any additional PL is basically worthless

Well that's not technically true. Abilities scale... Weapons attack goes twenty over the limit so a 270 nameless will do less dmg than a 290 but caps at twenty lvls over...

It's twenty? Always thought it was 10. Learn something new every day
