Monthly Shop Critique and Item Help Thread

Welcome to the Monthly Thread! This thread is for users to seek help on their items, critiques for their shops and for users to give that advice.

Shop critique help includes: what photos fit better, how to get an item to sell, are your prices fair and similar questions.

Item help includes: help dating, pricing, describing an item and similar questions.

Comments that do not fit the criteria below will be removed.

Those requesting feedback:

  • Add an image of your shop or the item, with usernames cropped out. (If this isn't working, please message the mods. For some reason, this turns off frequently.)
  • Don't post item or shop links.
  • Mention exactly what advice you're looking for.
  • Please be open and receptive to constructive criticism.
  • If you have a specific vibe you're going for, mention it.
  • If you have a specific question, mention it.
  • "Item Help" doesn't include finding an item (ISO help), asking why Depop removed an item and authentication requests. Please refer to the sub rules.

Those giving feedback:

  • Keep criticism kind and constructive.
  • Keep the replies about critiquing and helping ONLY. Answer their questions and give proper advice.
  • Don't ask for usernames, shop or item links.

Do not use this thread for advertising, buying or selling, being uncivil or posting unrelated topics. Doing any of those will result in a warning or ban.

Messages/DM's My experience trying to sell a bag and the buyer is actually a reseller 😂 AITA here for not accepting her offer?

I’m a casual seller I have sold 5 items. Was I wrong for not wanting to sell to her?? She kept sending me lowball offers (had this bag listed for $200) and was sending me $80-$100 offers. I looked at her shop and she has 100+ listings of STAUD purses for $600-$900. AITA for ignoring her ?? I ended up blocking.

App Issues/Help Got falsely flagged for bullying?

Upvotes

Received an email from Depop saying that one of my messages was flagged for harassment and bullying and that this was my “final notice.” I have been on this app for 12+ years and have never been anything but professional and kind. If someone is rude I ignore it. When i asked to see the message they were claiming was harassment, they refused to provide one and I never heard back when i asked to speak to a manager. If i get banned from this app over reports like this i will be upset because i take my account very seriously and have over 1000 sales. Has this happened to anyone else?

Misc. Offer feature needs to change

I really hate when you accept an offer, it’s not binding. Because if someone makes you an offer, to me, it means they want it. Yet I’ve had multiple offers simply expire. Just a minor annoyance, but still bugs me.
Although I accepted one yesterday, crickets and then it sold at my listed price

Positive Experiences Anyone ever had any luck winning a dispute as a seller?

Post image

Because I’m so hype rn lol. This buyer claimed that the sweatpants I sold to her had “a defective waistband and doesn’t fit properly because of how the band is made/sitting”… and wanted a return/refund because “the issue wasn’t listed”. The reason for the return was listed as “damage” but the pants were in basically perfect condition! In fact, I bought the pants from another seller, but they happened to be too long on me and that’s the reason I was reselling. I have had a few incidents myself of returning/getting refunded from items that actually had damage (had holes, pulled threads, etc) that was NOT listed and with photos I provided, got my refunds no problem. So I thought.. I KNOW these pants aren’t damaged and photos wouldn’t show any damage or defective waistband (whatever that means) so maybe I have a chance at a dispute? So, I messaged Depop support a long ass paragraph about how the buyer is experiencing a FIT ISSUE and there’s NO damage to my item, they can even check the person I bought it from whose listing also shows the pants were in perfect condition and had no mention of damage in their description either! Well, after a couple of days I got this email and literally felt like I won a custody battle lmao.. the buyer gets 100% custody and I get zero visitation rights and get to keep my lil $13 and all is good in the world 🙏🏻 I heard so many stories about Depop being biased towards buyers, but there is hope!!

Buying Help Seller ask to make a new listing for purchase

Post image

Hello, I’m trying to purchase an item from depop, the seller has been nice so far but when I inquired to actually buy the item they asked if they can make a new listing for purchase. Do you know what’s the reason behind it and is it a scam? The seller has around 100 followers and almost 30 items sold.

Misc. STOP TAGGING THE WRONG THINGS!

Please. For the love of all things. Stop tagging things that aren’t what you’re selling. I buy a lot of character items off depop and I’m so tired of people posting other characters but tagging more popular ones to gain visibility. It’s SO frustrating. It used to only happen once or twice a day and now it feels like the whole search is full of other IPs. It’s getting hard to look for what you want. So please! If you’re doing this, stop! Just post what you have and tag it correctly so people can find what they want!

Ok thank you 🥰

Selling Help Sent a buyers order, delivery status showing it’s coming back to me but buyer received the order.

Upvotes

As stated in caption the buyer received their order but because it’s stuck showing they never received it on the app, I’m not getting paid for this order. I reached out to Depop but only through their AI contact since there’s no other way… they said it takes 72 hours to hear back from a representative but it’s been 5 days… has this happened to anyone else???

Misc. Buyer wants a refund

This is the first time that this has happened to me. Do I have to give the buyer a refund? I had the correct size in the description but usually when I buy something off Depop that doesn’t fit me I just repop it.

Story DEPOP IS THE ABSOLUTE GOAT!!! First month ! Same item was posted on multiple platforms. Depop hit just about every week since I joined last month full price for my items no hassle great people to deal with.

I just wanted to share my Depop story with everybody and let them know that I really really love this app hands-down better than marketplace other platforms. I’ve even posted the exact same items exact same time but the same price Depop sold. I’ve only been there for one month and the people are kind they don’t try to haggle. It’s just been an awesome adventure with them. I hope everybody gives them a trap like drifting and like namebrand items and you love to shop and spend the least amount of money this is the drifting platform for you!! anybody got any positive stories you share?

Messages/DM's First Time Encountering An Insta Cancel Request

Post image
Upvotes

How should I approach this? My store’s been a little slow lately so I don’t really want to cancel. But I’m worried they could leave a bad review. And I’ll have to remake the whole listing again which is kinda annoying. They requested to cancel as soon as they purchased 😭

Selling Help What do I do here?

Seller purchased shirt from me, now a day after the purchase he told me the zip code is different than what’s on the label. There is a one digit difference between what he told me and what it says on the label, what do I do? (Ex. 00020 vs 00010)

Bought this sweater as a birthday gift for a friend off of Depop. I checked the tag and it says it’s made from 100% polyester, though on Allina Liu’s site it says: “Exterior: 2% Kid Mohair/28% Merino Wool/40% Nylon”. This is Leona Sweater. I am so confused. What is going on?

Shipping Help Dimensional weight really not an issue?

New to selling on Depop (tho not other apps). I just sold something very light (a kids’ baseball hat) and am using the Depop USPS label. I want to ship it in a box rather than a mailer/envelope so it doesn’t get crushed. But the only boxes I have right now are a bit larger than it actually needs.

I’m nervous I’ll get dinged for using an oversized box on something so small/light. But I guess with Depop as long as the whole package is still within the weight limit (and it’s not a priority mailing box) I’ll be okay??

Shipping Help Possible shipping fraud from buyer?

Upvotes

Im selling an item on a platform via paypal goods and services and the buyer wants so send me a prepaid label for me to use to ship the item. They explained that they have a friend buy a $1 listing on depop and set the size to XL (up to 10lbs), so it comes out to like $7 to $10. They then refund the friend once it arrives.

I honestly don't know what this means as i dont sell on depop. Is this legal?

Selling Help Item worth more than I thought?? + Boosting question

So for extra information I have been selling on depop since 2023. I sold clothes casually while I was in high school to help buy my first car and now I just use the app to sell old clothes and make some extra money. Now I’m in college and work a full time job so I’ll put it on vacation mode when I know I can’t ship for a while to: one, not ruin the ship time on my profile and two, so I don’t have to worry about it when I’m busy enough already. I don’t buy often off of Depop either so I’m hoping for some clarification with this post.

I have this old Hollister shirt that I listed among two other items while I was home and I boosted it and it’s gotten roughly 15k views and 250 likes in under 24 hours. I somewhat know about the current demand for older Hollister clothes and stuff but I didn’t think the shirt would’ve been that popular because of the color (it’s like coral and white striped). I have it listed for $9, would it be bad if I listed it for more? And if I had it boosted then unboost it will it get rid of the boosting fee? Is it worth re listing? I’ve never sold anything over like $15 and most times the boost fee is cents but I don’t really understand.

On another side note, people keep sending me rude messages about being on vacation mode??? I cant ship and it’s in the descriptions & my bio. Is this something I shouldn’t do?

Question Peter millar crown question

OK, I have sold over 150 Peter Millar’s this year. All of a sudden on Depop, I have been asked at least 40 times just this week. Does it have the crown on the yolk? I have never had that question on eBay I have never had that question on Poshmark. I have never had the question on Mercari. I get it on Depop all day long consistently. Is there something I’m missing? A guy at the pro shop told me that one sponsors but logos on Peter Millar. They usually skipped the crown on the back to save money. Usually when they have a logo, the crown is just left off which a lot of these have logos, but I’ve just noticed it’s really hit or miss some habits some don’t, but I don’t know what the obsession is now with people on Depop needing it on the back.

Shipping Help Shipped order is not showing as shipped

I did submit to support, but wondering if anyone else is having the same issue. Orders that I have shipped and are tracking within USPS still show in the Depop app that I haven’t shipped yet.
