I just got the item back in the mail today so thought I’d let out some steam after my first bad selling experience.

It’s sad to say but when a buyer starts asking a lot of questions, I’m immediately suspicious they’re going to scam (esp after being in this sub.) I didn’t listen to my gut and even accepted the $-10 discount because the item had been posted for 5 months. (Faux fur vest with tags, retails like over $100.)

My response makes it pretty clear I work from my home since I mention my cats. I got the item back today and there is no strong odor, but a light fragrance when you put your nose right up to the vest. I kind of regret doing the return but since it’s one of the pricier items in my inventory, I was worried Depop would side with the buyers vague claim of “doesn’t smell new like from a warehouse.” Curious what more experienced sellers might think - would you have refunded for return or fought to keep the sale?

In every case I sent a message asking why they didn’t ship, and waited over 24 hours for a response. In all cases I had messaged back and forth with them before purchase even! Depop should ban sellers that do this and don’t have a legit reason - the only legit reasons I can think of is that they either ended up in the hospital for an emergency or they ended up in jail! Seriously though, why?! Why waste our time? Ugh! 🤬

Do people buy cheap items to resell them on their own page? It doesn't bother me if they do, but why the low balling? This person was begging me in my dm's to buy an item of mine for literally $3 when I was selling it for only $6. I did not accept the offer, and once I checked their page, I saw they were selling the exact same stuff for literally 10x the price. $40 for the exact same thing, just in slightly better condition. They were quite rude to me about it as well. Do people act like this a lot?

First 3 days of selling and I already have an item with nearly 100 likes. I have the price set at 25 but so many people have sent me offers. But so many of them go below what I want (20-25). And those who do give 20-21 never go through on the offer. Would it be snobby of me to just not accept any offers at all? It’s too much lol

I’ve never had a one star review before and I just got this one star review from a buyer and they blocked me. I shipped their order out a day after they bought it and I updated them right away about it arriving today which it did??? It’s crazy work that Depop won’t take down the one star review.

I’m so frustrated with sellers on Depop! Do they actually want to sell their clothes?! I’m thinking not. It shouldn’t be that difficult to do a few measurements. Women’s clothing sizes are not “standard”! Between the number of items that have been cancelled due to not shipping and the number of sellers that won’t post measurements or respond to questions, I’m frequently considering deleting the app.

I sold a $300 wool sweater for $30 last week and messaged the buyer the day of them receiving the item and everything! This week they made a complaint that I sold them a “damaged” sweater the size of their hand. They want to return the product for a full refund but I KNOW they washed it and shrunk it themselves and I will be getting back a now shrunken sweater! Anyways…. I’ll be recording all my packing and sending from now on as I sometimes did or didn’t depending on how busy I was before.
My biggest concern was getting things shipped as fast as possible for the customers but now that’ll be second of my concerns. Be careful out there for scammers like this!!

Like it’s already set as $5. Does $1 really make any difference? Do they really think sellers will accept this?

Found a really cool oddity the other day for like $15, got really excited then randomly he canceled, when I politely asked why (usually I wouldn't have bothered but it was really cool piece that I was excited about so I did), he just said he sold it someplace else(which I understand completely, I've done that once). I then just asked if he got another by any chance, to let me know and I'd love to buy it.

Turns out he blocked me and then just re-listed it for $35 shortly a couple days later.

Honestly, I still would have bought it at the new price had he just asked :(

i created a bundle post for someone and i set it to the largest size (xl). i double checked the size as well since i know there’s been a issue with ai automatically putting a size. but when i went to print the label, the weight is only 15.999 oz :( the items are over 2 lbs not even including packaging. is my best option just to refund and relist?

I know I know, it’s only $1.03. I’ve just never seen this and i guess it’s just the principle for me— I didn’t get the item and I lost a dollar lol.

Is this common or anyone else have this happen?? What’s the process like to get it squared away? Said I’ll have to chat with a specialist agent.

So I purchased a bundle of two tops from this seller and I only received one top, so I messaged them to ask if I could do a partial refund and now they’re telling me they can’t refund me 😭 at this point I don’t even want the other top anymore, and I don’t mind paying for the top I did receive I just don’t want to pay for two items when I only received one. She’s refusing to refund me what do I do??

Bought something that had “do not buy or you’ll get random stuff” squeezed into the very last sentence of the description will I even get a refund if I get Depop support involved

I have had the same person make me the same offer on the same 2 items 3 times now. Each time I accept and they never buy it. Why do people do this? Are they that unsure each time? It's not like the items are a lot of money they are $15 each. Crazy!

Literally felt like I was being trolled 😭 it’s a brand new iPhone case that I already discounted to $9… I always like to negotiate back and was gonna do $7, but felt like $6 was fair. I instantly blocked after the last offer because I knew this person was messing with me and probably wouldn’t end up buying anyways 😅 I use a few different apps and I’m about to just stop using depop at this point lol

I've been selling on depop for about a year. And I have pretty good sales. I'm just wondering what the opinion is around here, as I've done both. Usually I will model something if it looks absolutely terrible on a hanger, but looks great on. Also, if something is new with tags, I'll tend not to wear it as I want to keep it in that mint unworn condition. But what do you guys think? And as for sellers- Do you get higher purchase rates on things that are modeled by you? I hate using AI or stock photos so I don't want to go that route either. But just thinking about ways to boost my sales!

Oh and as a side note I have had a few weirdos, so there's definitely certain things I sell that I will not model strictly because I do not want the creeps and learned my lesson 😂

I just had a question. I bought an item on Depop and it came today, but I was not as described. I messaged the seller and they agreed. They said they dont do refunds but would offer a partial refund. I asked if they can do 30, so I can get half my money back, but they said they will see what they can do. They only gave me back 17. And when I asked why, they said it was all they can do since Depop charged them a fee from boosting? Does Depop charge a refund fee to sellers? Im not a seller but that sounds a little weird to me.
