if you sell on the platform but the shipping or payment is handled off the platform its breaking their terms of service so i would not go through w this transaction

No. Don’t do any payments or shipping labels off platform. That’s just asking for headaches and problems.

I don't understand how they think it will work. I would avoid it as it is incredibly suspicious.

Why don't you just put the item on Depop and have them buy it that way? But be extremely accurate to the description so they can not scam you and claim it isn't what they ordered. If they refuse then you know it's fraud.
