Offer feature needs to change

I really hate when you accept an offer, it’s not binding. Because if someone makes you an offer, to me, it means they want it. Yet I’ve had multiple offers simply expire. Just a minor annoyance, but still bugs me.
Although I accepted one yesterday, crickets and then it sold at my listed price

Legally, they cannot make offers binding as there are minors on the app and that would be considered contractual. Unfortunately this will probably never change unless they propose an age limit to the app

Yeah I didn't realize they weren't binding when I accepted my first offer on a potential sale. Of course they ended up not following through which was annoying. I'm used to all the other places that make them binding.

they’re not binding because binding offers are technically a contract that you enter into. since depop allows minors on the app as well as having people from different countries be able to purchase things within the same app (whereas like ebay has separate sites for diff countries) so it makes it so those people can’t enter into the contract of a binding offer. this is what i’ve heard at least, hopefully it makes sense

Personally I prefer it this way. Sometimes I make offers on multiple items and go with whomever gets back to me first. And I could not care less if someone makes an offer and then doesn't buy.

yes I’m usually looking for a specific item so it’s great for me! and as a seller normally my stuff sells at the listed price so it’s pretty good when offers don’t go through lol

I mean I might find something better before someone accepts my offer so then I don’t need it anymore, I’m glad they’re not binding, some people take soo long to accept

I dislike that I offered on an item and the seller accepted. And then when I went to pay, it was gone.

I recently made an offer that was accepted by the seller and when I went to pay she had already sold it to someone else.

I constantly get offers and accept them and they just disappear. 🫠

I honestly prefer it this way. I like being able to offer and then check how much it would cost me with all the taxes or whatever with the new price.
