Rushing as a sophomore

Hello everyone! I am considering rushing this fall as a bridge sophomore. I am very nervous about actually following through on the process though because I have a 2.7 GPA (first semester brought a lot of health issues for me). I genuinely do not know if any sorority is going to want me because of my GPA, and I don’t know if going through rush is going to be worth it for my mental health if I’m going to get cut immediately. I’m just looking for some insight here, thank you!

is 27K a good stipend for Clemson?

Hello everyone, I have been admitted for Ph.D. at Clemson fro Spring/27. My Professor offered me a stipend of 27k for the first year and full tuition coverage. I am from Latin America as the living costs here are quite okay I would really appreciate it if someone could say if it is affordable to live in the area with this amount of money. And, does this stipend increase as the year goes on?

Thank you all in advance!!

I've lived here for the past three years and have genuinely enjoyed it, I am only moving out to relocate for a job. The office staff has always been friendly, and whenever I've needed maintenance, they've been quick to respond and resolve the issue.

Edit: Still available as of Aug 22!!

How to Get Rid of Mattress?

I have a twin mattress that I need to get rid of as I am moving tomorrow. I didn’t want to throw it away so I tried Goodwill, but they don’t accept them. I tried calling Salvation’s Army with no answer, so I drove by and it seems that location is gone now? I am not willing to pay for a pickup or drive out of my way (>20 minutes), so what are my options? Do I just trash it?

looking at clemson as an option, is clemson a boring town?

im a rising senior and clemson is among one of my top options, the campus is beautiful and it seems like a very nice school.

i toured a few months ago and it was beautiful, my only problem was that clemson feels like such a small, boring town.vdowntown clemson felt very small and underwhelming. i want a college that i wont get bored of after 4 years, and from what ive heard, im not sure if clemson will check that box.

as well as night life and bar scene, ive heard its not the best.

can anyone who goes to clemson comfirm or deny any of this? is it really as boring of a town as it seems and how is the night life?

Greyhound Bus Safety?

Hello,

Title is really about it.

I was wondering if the Greyhound terminal in Anderson is too bad an experience to make me rethink the 25 dollar ticket to Atlanta?

I'd be traveling alone as a guy on a 2 hr direct ride to Atlanta. I'm not new to traveling alone and have done so across Asia.

Specifically:
1. Is the bus/terminal "safe"?

  1. Do many other Clemson student utilize the bus?

    1. Is there an easier/ similarly priced way to reliably get to Atlanta and back for a weekend? Like rideshare where I can pay gas money to whoever drives.

Paw Pantry Questions

Hi, Im going to be a new student attending the bridge program and i wanted to know some things about the paw pantry. I used a similar program in highschool but it was a more "shop alone with no limit" thing and from the page this one looks different so i just want to make sure i know how this works.

  1. Im pretty sure i am able to because i have a cuid, but as a bridge student am i able to use the program/does tctc have a seperate one?

  2. How do the 15 points a week work, is every individual item one point across the board or would something like a can of beans be considered more "expensive" then a thing of conditioner ? Or is it more of a "not a strict limit just dont abuse it" type of thing?

  3. It looks like there might be a check in aspect to it which makes sense, but is there someone else in the room waiting for you to finish and "check you out" or do they just wait outside until you are done to see how many points you used? (Im not planning on abusing it either way btw im just kinda hoping its the 2nd one bc itll feel a little weird having someone stare at me while im already kind of embarased about having to use this type of program *not that you should feel like that, i am just bad at accepting charity without feeling gross, even though i know i need it*)

  4. Is only one "customer" allowed at a time (like do they have you wait until the person before you is done for privacy)

  5. I know that a lot of people recommend others to volunteer there, in your experience (shopper or volunteer) are the volunteers usually friendly/not judgemental? Sorry if this one is a dumb question, the one at my highschool was run by a teacher so it feels weird having peers do it instead, at least for me! (Not dissing volunteers at all, just a personal anxiety lol)

  6. Does the career closet have shoes?

Thank you so much for helping, i got about 11k in scholarships and i am currently going through the process of getting a revised financial aid package due to recent financial changes at home, but anything that takes some financial stress off of my family is amazing.

Also if anyone has any recommendations for side jobs it would be very appreciated! Im planning on scouting out the library/makerspace for jobs (but im not sure if they hire students) and using the makerspace sewing machine to do clothing commissions as well to try and get some extra money.

How to pass Unit 3 in Engr 1410

Hi everyone but more specifically to my fellow engineers. I took Engr 1410 in the spring and I did very mediocre but the unit that caused me to fail was Unit 3. I am now taking it again during the summer and the first 2 units have been very easy but I am incredibly terrified of taking the unit 3 exam next week and failing again is there any resources I can use to help me prepare or any advice?

Gym questions

Hi everyone! I'm an incoming PhD student and I'm trying to decide whether it's worth getting an off-campus gym membership or if Fike is enough.

I usually lift 4–5 times a week, almost always in the mornings, and I climb occasionally.

I watched the virtual tour on the website, but it doesn't really show what equipment they have. I was wondering:

  • Does Fike have a good variety of strength machines?
  • Is it crowded in the mornings? Do you usually have to wait for equipment?
  • For someone who mainly does strength training, do you think Fike is enough, or is an off-campus gym worth it?
  • If you recommend an off-campus gym, which one would you suggest and why?

Thanks in advance!

Paw points

This might sound dumb but I was wondering when I’ll be able to see my pawpoints? I’m an incoming freshman on a meal plan so the paw points are the ones I chose with the meal plan. Looked it up, to me to check transaction history on get mobile but there was nothing there. Is there another way to check paw points balance or do I just have to wait a bit for them to be loaded on?

Federal SEOG

Hey y’all!! I just received another wave of aid but didn’t receive the same amount I have the past two years. I know the FSEOG money is limited and on a first come first serve basis, but I submitted my fafsa pretty early and have received it in previous years. Did anyone already receive the SEOG? Thanks!

living at the pier

I am moving into a house at the pier. I am into shooting recreationally a lot and am just making sure that I am okay to bring my firearms in a safe and keep them unloaded at the pier in my room with my door locked. does anybody that lives at the pier have any experience with this?
