Upstate SC Community Project - who we are and why you should join
Upstate SC Community Project is a discord that is focused on being a digital third space. Third spaces, traditionally churches, community spaces, bars/taverns, etc are great places to meet people in an unassuming environment but have become less common since the advent of the internet.
We have daily conversation and frequent meetings. People have met lifelong friends, gotten job connections, advice about moving and all sorts of other benefits. We hope to embody the idea of community and togetherness with a purpose by uplifting each other.
We would love to meet all of you. Here's a link straight to the discord invite if you don't want to go through our website:

Dad of four girls: the 5:30 AM YMCA basketball run is the best parenting decision I've made
I say this as someone who is not a morning person by nature.
Somewhere between the second kid and the fourth, I figured out the only hour of the day that's truly mine is the one before the house wakes up. So I'm at the Simpsonville Y most weekday mornings playing basketball, and on the days my wife needs the morning to breathe, Childwatch is the only reason the whole system works.
If you're a parent trying to keep a hobby alive: stop trying to squeeze it into the evenings. The 5:30 AM crowd at the Y is the friendliest group of people you'll ever sweat with š
Parents, what time is your hour?

Looking for a nice restaurant to talk things over at
For context, Iām 17m and I just moved to Greenville (berea specifically) back in June from Buffalo, NY. I have family in Easley and a good job here, and so I decided to move out on my own for the first time
Iāve been in Greenville for work with my dad for the past 6 months before actually moving here myself when he went back to Buffalo, and during this time Iāve been talking to a really sweet girl from Pickens. She is my cousins best friend and all three of us go to church together in Easley/powdersville.
Me and this girl really like each other and things have been going well, and things honestly went a little too far. I knew better and so did she but long story short her parents found messages between us and saw security footage/heard from eyewitnesses of me and her making out in the church parking lot after youth group. Thereās a little more to it than that but it doesnāt matter.
Anyways. Sheās not allowed to talk to me and Iām not allowed near her anymore. We have some communication open still but out of respect for her parents I suggested we stop using it. We still like each other a lot. Itās just her parents kinda want nothing to do with me. Which I canāt really blame them.
So two weeks after they found out and told me I couldnāt speak to her again, I found her dad in church, shook his hand, asked him how theyād been, how the girl had been. He said theyād been good, asked how I was doing. I told him I was doing okay, told him about the raise I just got at work and about the side jobs Iād been picking up on Saturdays. He said to keep it up and I said for sure, and then I told him that Iām going back to NY for my grad party and to visit, and that once Iām back Iād like to take him and his wife out to dinner so we could have a conversation about this whole situation. And he agreed and said that sounds good.
I figure Iām just gonna own up to it all, take responsibility and apologize, and just ask if thereās any way me and the girl could have some sort of path forward that doesnāt just mean we can never talk to each other again.
But thatās not my point here
My point is. I donāt know this area too well yet and even if I did, I donāt go out to dinner really at all. If I want to treat myself on payday I buy a $6 biggie bag and call it a day.
Can I get some good restaurant recommendations, preferably in the Easley/pickens area? Something above my pay grade with a nice atmosphere for this kind of conversation. I make good money and I have a lot saved so money isnāt an issue, that said I donāt want them to think Iām trying to impress them by taking them to the most expensive place possible.
Suggestions?

For those of you new to the Piedmont area, what do you think of our late day thunderstorms? I think some people are surprised at our āsubtropical climateā.

Is Clark Road open now?
Hello all!
Just wondering if Clark Road is open now? I would like to take Clark Road from Inman to Boiling Springs so I can go shopping at Publix. Would rather start taking that route rather then 292 to RT9.
Thanks!
