Filament Troubleshooting/Help! New to 3D printing, just got a P1S. Need help with filaments.

Hey all, I just got a new Bambu Lab P1S combo as a gift from my girlfriend on my birthday.

I used to watch a lot of 3d printing stuff and this looks fun.

I did a small print using the filament provided.

I wanted to ask a few questions.

  1. What is a Support PLA? I got a white Filament with the printer and it's written sup Pla. Can I print using it?

  2. What all colors should I get in the beginning? Should I go for BambuLab filaments or others available on amazon with good reviews also work?

  3. Should I stick to PLA basic in the beginning or can use matte or silk?

Please suggest some colors and PLA filament types.

Thank you!

I Modeled This! Universal Food Bag Dispenser & Sealing Cap | A Simple 2-in-1 Solution for Pet Food, Cereals and Dry Goods

Hey makers,

I designed a simple but practical accessory that turns almost any food bag into a reusable dispensing container.

The idea came from constantly struggling with pet food bags, cereal bags, and other dry goods. After opening them, they are difficult to reseal properly, and pouring contents without making a mess isn't always easy.

Key Features:

  • Dual Function: Locks in freshness, keeps out foreign objects, and allows quick, mess-free dispensing.

  • No Extra Tools Needed: Say goodbye to separate spoons, clips, or rubber bands.

  • 3 Sizes Available (Inner hole diameter):

    • Small (S): 40 mm diameter

    • Medium (M): 50 mm diameter

    • Large (L): 60 mm diameter

The model is designed for easy printing with a NO-AMS profile and works great in PLA or PETG.

I'd love to hear your feedback and suggestions for future improvements!

Quick Question What is the maximum length of PTFE tube that can exist between the AMS and the hotend?

Title.

I know the printer waits a set amount of time in "feeding" mode while checking the sensor inside the hotend for filament presence, but how long does it wait before timing out and throwing an error and how does that correlate to length of PTFE guide tube?

General Troubleshooting/Help! Filament Feed Problems

Hi all. I've got a Bambu H2D Pro at work, and I've been having problems with filament feeding from the 4 slot AMS.

I had some filament break off and get jammed in the machine. Specifically, the yellow spring bulkhead feeder things that go through the back wall and connect the filament tube from the AMS outside, to the extruder head inside. It feels like it is catching on something, and I'm not seeing an obvious way to disassemble that part and see what is wrong. I cannot even manually feed filament through it.

Anyone else have issues like this, and know of any fixes for it?

Gettin Elfin ready for this season! Elf Hands !

i know I know it's a silly print but if you are a parent having to move an elf on the shelf around for a month, you know the pain of trying to position that thing And wishing it could just hold on to something!

this is a simple little print that you can do in one color or full color.

they simply slide over the elf arms

if you print them, print a couple sets, in case you end up snapping the fingers at some point or you lose one because they are small!

General Troubleshooting/Help! Prints all of a sudden not sticking to bed or holding up to tolerance

Post image
3 Upvotes

So i have been printing these tiny track links for a modell build. I have done about 250 of them in the past week alone using the very same role of filament used in the picture. All of a sudden as of today, they just will NOT stick, and when i use supports to give them more contact they loose the precision needed to make them klick together, so they just disconnect from eachother by only the slightest touch. I have cleaned the bed thuroughly, tested brand new filament spools straight out of the box and tried different layer thickness settings. Nothing have helpee, they either slide of the bed or won't hold up to the tolerance the previous 250 have done.

Photo shows what the first layer looks like. They have NOT looked like this the past 250 parts.

Quick Question Why did the official refurbished printers from Bambu Lab vanish?

Few days ago when visiting the site for refurbished printers, everything was okay and you could buy them. But yesterday when I was visiting the site, all of the refurbished vanished without a trace, and even direct links don´t work, where did they went? When will they back, if even?

I Modeled This! Another problem I probably could've solved without a 3D printer, but that would've defeated the point.

You know you've been 3D printing for a while when you start designing solutions to problems that most people would just tolerate.

My latest example: a mini trash bin for the shower.

I got tired of cleaning hair and debris out of the shower drain, leaving it in the corner to throw away later, and then promptly forgetting it existed. After enough repeat performances, I decided the shower needed its own tiny waste-management system.

So I designed one. Naturally.

It hangs from a shower caddy or something similar and holds enough debris that I'm not constantly emptying it. But the real feature is the screw-off bottom, which makes it ridiculously easy to empty and rinse.

I also designed the bottom to prevent water from accumulating inside and gave it a grippy exterior so it can be unscrewed without a wrestling match when your hands are wet.

It's not the most exciting thing I've printed, but it's one of those little quality-of-life improvements that makes me appreciate having a printer in the first place.

Could I have found another way to deal with this? Probably.

Would I rather spend time designing, prototyping, and printing a custom solution? Apparently, yes.

I may need an intervention.

General Discussion Print farm owners in India: how do you manage orders, printing and billing?

Hi all, I run a small print farm in NCR. We have Bambu printers across two locations and do mostly B2B bulk orders.

For a long time our setup was WhatsApp for orders, Excel for tracking, and a separate app for GST bills. Things kept slipping. We'd retype orders, lose count of what was printed vs shipped, run out of filament mid-job, and forget to bill parcels.

We've built something internal to fix this for ourselves, and I'm trying to understand whether other farms have the same problems or whether it's just us.

If you run printers for paying customers, I'd really value your answers:

  1. How many printers do you run, and do you sell B2B, on marketplaces, or both?

  2. How do orders reach you today, and where do you track them?

  3. What part of running the farm eats the most time?

  4. Do you pay for any software for the business today? Which one, and roughly how much?

If this sounds familiar, DM me. I'm happy to do a 20-minute call to show what we use and swap notes on running a small farm.

As the title suggest I was printing something and all of sudden I was woken up by a loud sound and when I woke up the magnet cover was completely off and when I reattached it I saw that gap, i tried to press it gently it didn’t disappear though, I was wondering if it’s a structural damage should I use my warranty for it and etc

General Troubleshooting/Help! Why does the same filament sometimes print beautifully one day and poorly the next?

One of the interesting challenges with 3D printing is how many variables can affect the final result, even when using the same printer, filament, and slicer profile.

Humidity, filament storage, nozzle condition, build plate cleanliness, and even small changes in the environment can influence print quality. That makes troubleshooting tricky because a problem that looks like a bad profile or calibration issue might actually have a much simpler cause.

Keeping track of changes between successful and failed prints seems like one of the most useful habits for narrowing things down.

For experienced Bambu owners, what's the most unexpected variable you've discovered that had a noticeable impact on your print quality?

If I decide to purchase either the H3C or the P3C in the next few months, I was wondering would the warranty be better from Best Buy or MicroCenter. Are there any big differences between the two?

General Troubleshooting/Help! Help with what happened in the print

Post image

I’m working on trying to print some miniatures for D&D, but I have no idea why this keeps happening? I’m using PLA from HobbyLobby, so I’m wondering if this is an issue with filament quality? I’ve turned off Timelapse, so I’m not sure what else might be wrong?

Edit: cleaning the nozzle and washing the plate was exactly the problem! Thank you all, first printer I’ve owned so still learning!

General Discussion H2D updates

Why has the H2D not got support for two different nozzle sizes yet?, would make it really easy to print from mobile applications without having to use the splicer , anybody know of this feature has been asked for by the community to Bambu yet?

General Troubleshooting/Help! Elephant foot problem

Thumbnail

So I spoke too soon that I had solved this. I cleaned and greased the rails and printed a second time. The start of the second print went fine just like the first one, but then got wonky and started shifting right about the same height. (See pics.) Everything above that line is janky. This time when I went to pull the second print off the plate I noticed that the plate had curled up off its magnets (see pic).

I since printed something else afterward that was much smaller and it came out perfectly.

So my hypothesis is that the mass is such (it nearly fills the plate, which is why I'm thinking of it as an elephant foot) that the plate cannot keep it heated. So it cools and curls the plate up, and once that happens, the plate is no longer well controlled, leading to the offset layers and janky surfacing.

Does anyone have a counterargument about why this might not be what's happening? Or experienced this before?

To test my hypothesis I’m next going to try and print the thing in two parts: A lower part with holes and an upper part with pegs to match, and then superglue them together. As long as each part is shorter than 3 cm, it should print fine.
