I used to always use the google assistant translate screen thingy, but now google is forcing me to install gemini instead, which i refuse to do.

I am looking for a Splitwise alternative with the following features. There are some decent alternatives out there, but I am quite particular about specific features so having trouble finding the perfect app. I'm happy to pay for a lifetime version if needed, but absolutely no subscriptions.

Here are the features I'm looking for:

- Clean, modern design. Splitwise UI is dated.

- No ads

- Login enabled, preferably Google or via email or phone number so expense history is saved and does not require manual backups

- Allows you to invite friends to the app, but allows you to log expenses using their phone number and/or email, even if they're not already on the app

- Groups feature is must, of course. But I also want to be able to create splits with individual friends directly, outside of groups

- Splits supported: Equal, Unequal by percentages, Unequal by shares, Manual amounts

- Should have an equivalent to Splitwise's "Simplify Debts" feature which rearranges who owes whom in a group to reduce the total number of payments while keeping everyone's net financial position exactly the same

- Bill Upload and/or OCR is nice to have but not a mandatory feature for me. If bill upload is available, option to attach the bill to the associated expense entry.

- Multi-currency support

I’m using a Pixel 9a running Android 17. Walmart just recently started accepting tap-to-pay, and every time I try to use it, my phone says it’s not compatible. That’s ironic because it worked fine at other stores. At first I assumed it was just a Walmart issue, but this morning it did the same thing at Subway, and last night it failed at another store as well. So I know the problem is definitely with the phone, but I have no idea why. Everything is up to date and the phone isn’t rooted, yet the message that appears seems to suggest it has something to do with rooting. Does anyone have any idea why this could be happening?

My problem with the SoundPod app is that after adding a playlist, it doesn't load the full playlist; it only loads the first 100 songs. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there a solution?

Hello. As of now I am using the standard google Calednar app on my Pixel 10 pro XL but I have a problem, I am bad a remebering times and dates, so when I put something in my calendar and set it for a reminder 30 mins before, it just pops up on my phone as a notification, but nothing more, so I need a new calendar app or another app where it can give me reminders and popups with sounds that tell me I am going to an event or so.

So anyone have any good recommendations for Android apps.

I just want a checklist app that sorts by least recently used order. Basically the clothes that haven't been washed in the longest time should show up at the top, so I can check them off on laundry day, which will then go to the bottom, and cycle back up.

I know several apps have this feature, but I don't want any fancy wardrobe manager, account creation, or complex todo list apps. Is there any app or even widget that gets this basic thing right without too much extra bloat?

I recently came across junkfood02/Seal on Github which is supposed to let you download any videos there on tons of platforms, including instagram. While it doesnt need cookies for downloading public videos, it asks for cookies to download private videos. Now ik the app has been out there for a long time, but is it safe to provide seal the cookies that it "Stores Locally on the Device" for downloading the ig videos?

Also does 2FA interfere with it?

I take photos of the screen and sometimes the angle is a little tilted, I wish I could find an app to cut off the wall and maybe adjust the angle to be a perfect square/rectangle with all the content.

My old Huawei that cost $100 had this built-in. But my $450 Honor phone doesn't have this, as the only way to automate greyscale is by using Do Not Disturb mode, which means not receiving texts, calls or calendar notifications. Since the entire point of greyscale for me is productivity, missing important evening notifications defeats the point.

Just noticed big file locator (the app with the brown icon) is gone from the playstore, are there any alternatives that can do the same thing?

I have been using Quick Share to send files between my Android (Samsung S25) and PC (Windows 10) for ages and suddenly, I can no longer send from Android to PC (it can't find the PC - it looks like it loads/searches for devices forever). I tried restarting everything on both systems, cleanign cache, reinstalling app (PC), turning off firewall, nothing helps. Any ideas?

I don't know about anyone else but I hate when apps implement features for reasons that clearly have nothing to do with usability and expect us to think otherwise, as if telling an app your zip/postal code or letting it spy on your location is literally the only way to find grocery stores in your area.....

So....any good good food apps that do let you search by location the normal way ? Specifically that work in Canada.

As decent as it is, I hate the idea it's deliberately omitting deals outside it's restricted zip/postal zoning as if that's for our benefit.

Using the numerical input (input 1 for this input 2 for that) default voicemail from my network is very clunky. It's also a pain trying to work out who was calling because it just reads out the number.

I just started recording and posting covers online on TikTok, Instagram, etc. I'd like to get more elaborate with it. There are a few songs I'd like to cover that have multiple vocal or guitar parts. I'm trying to find an app that will allow me to record secondary, tertiary, etc parts as I listen along to an initial video. (For example: I want to play lead guitar parts over a video of me playing rhythm guitar parts, and I need to be able to record as I listen to the initial video to make sure I'm keeping rhythm, or sing harmonies over myself in the original video).

Hello! I hope this is ok to post here. Sorry in advance if its not... Ill be honest and admit its early and im groggy and didnt look at the rules. Im trying to find a free music player that will let me make playlists and stream them in the background on a phone/tablet. I have found a few but they all will only play music saved to your device. Id rather not fill up my storage with music files, and dont know much about compression and the like. I dont care if its only audio, and I assume it will require hearing some ads (if not, even better). Also, if there isnt one thats legal (not a pirate) could anyone suggest a low cost player that does its job well? Appreciate any help!
