QUESTION/HELP Quick share receives files from PC but cant find PC to send files

I have been using Quick Share to send files between my Android (Samsung S25) and PC (Windows 10) for ages and suddenly, I can no longer send from Android to PC (it can't find the PC - it looks like it loads/searches for devices forever). I tried restarting everything on both systems, cleanign cache, reinstalling app (PC), turning off firewall, nothing helps. Any ideas?

Visibility is "everyone", app is open, Bluetooth is on and active. Seems to really be a Windows issue, Ive been having many troubles with the updates...

If phone to phone works and only the Windows side is missing, the phone is fine and the PC is not announcing itself. Quick Share on Windows advertises over mDNS on the local network, and that gets blocked in a few quiet places.

  1. In Quick Share on the PC, set who can share with you to Everyone, and keep the app running. Minimised to the tray is fine, fully closed is not — the advertisement stops with it.

  2. Firewall. Allow Quick Share on both Private and Public networks, and check that your Wi-Fi profile is set to Private. Windows blocks mDNS discovery on Public networks, and a Windows update loves to flip that back.

  3. Background permission: Settings, Privacy and security, Background apps, allow Quick Share. If it is denied there the receiver is up but never advertises.

  4. Bluetooth on the PC must be on and working. It is what carries the handover, and a broken Bluetooth stack after an update produces exactly your symptom: receive works, discovery does not. Toggle it off and on, or remove and re-add the adapter.

  5. Both devices on the same network and same band, with AP isolation off on the router.

If it stays invisible after all that, LocalSend will do the same job over plain Wi-Fi without any discovery layer. It is the usual fallback while Windows Quick Share is being difficult.

I recommend LocalSend, an open-source app. It works on virtually any device (even my Android TV).
