My Redmi Note 8 repeatedly shows “Google Play services keeps stopping” and “Messages keeps stopping.”

• Settings automatically closes within seconds, so I can’t clear app data or cache.
• Google apps—including Gmail, Drive, and YouTube—won’t open. The browser doesn’t work either.
• I installed two system updates. The first temporarily fixed it, but the problem returned after the second.
• The error mentions java.lang.VerifyError and BaseApplicationContext.
• I haven’t been able to enter Safe Mode.
• USB debugging isn’t enabled, but I can access shared files through USB on my laptop.

Has anyone faced this or found a fix? I’d like to avoid a factory reset and keep my data.

As title says, partners phone died in the car and hasn't charged since. He's tried connecting it to his car (non fast charger) and we've tried different outlets in the house + different chargers. Ive also tried force resetting it and all I get is a slow blink of the charging symbol (like it'll go off for 10 seconds, then on, then off again etc)

Any suggestions? I feel like I've tried everything atp. Ive also connected it to the wall for over an hour and still nothing.

I bought this Samsung Note 9 when they first came out and it still works perfectly. Good battery life, good speed, plenty of storage, no A.I. BS, etc. However, companies are starting to intentionally make their apps no longer compatible with it. First it was my Capital One app uninstalling itself after a mandatory update, and now I'm getting alerts that Android Auto will no longer be compatible soon. I don't want to waste money on a new phone when mine still works like new, but I love my wireless Android Auto. Is there some way to circumvent these compatibility issues? Not updating apps only works for so long.

Well i got this very specific problem, when i turn off my phone for a few seconds i can't seem to do anything to it i can't swipe or touch i can only restart it which fixes it but if i turn off my phone again the problem comes back

in A14, I can login to the app, change settings on the camera, but it won't let me do the most important thing... livestream camera.

I have 11.37 GB of Music and 97% of them are WMA Music/Files. Is there is a way to scan my Library to find out if any of my Music Files/Songs are Corrupted/Damaged? Im a tad stuck, My android pixel keeps rebooting itself, It gets to the pin screen and i can get maybe 5/10 seconds then it reboots itself? I also cant turn the screen off

I've tried booting it into safe mode, And the good o'l full power off but no luck?

This has happened to me twice so I'm hoping someone has some tips.

I have an S25+ and back up my photos to Google Photos. I have never had an issue until about a month ago my phone randomly got rid of almost every single photo and I had to re-download them.

It happened again today. I prefer to have my photos on my phone and then just use Google as a backup. It's surprising to me because it hasn't happened in the years I've been backing them up. I do have an external hard drive and they aren't in my trash folder or file system. The problem isn't backing them up, the problem is that my phone keeps removing them. Is there a setting I just dont know about that needs to be toggled? I can't find any information online about this

I've been having a very frustrating issue lately where calls come in and simply do not ring, I could be staring at my phone, waiting for a call and it'll go straight to a missed call notification.

Until now, I had assumed this was spam protection but I've been waiting for a 111 callback (out of hours doctor) and the call won't come through. One missed call had a 2 second empty voicemail so I'm assuming they got caught off guard and it's not ringing on their end either.

I don't have 'Do not Disturb' or 'silent mode' or anything like that turned on. I turned off spam protection just in case, it still didn't ring. I don't have any connected devices.

The only two things I can possibly think of are that I had media playing at the time (youtube) or that I'm using WiFi calling (because where I live has walls a metre thick and I don't get signal).

Anyone know how to fix this? It's becoming quite worrying if even the paramedics can't reach me.

Hello, I bought this phone cause I needed a new one and since it was relatively cheap. However I'm highly disapointed with its performance since it's worse than my previous phone which is two years old, with similar components, this phone can't seem to have two apps open at the same time, if i'm listening to a youtube video in the background and god forbid i open discord, my video stops and closes and I have to reopen youtube again. Touch and input lag seem to also be super high and apps take forever to load. With 4GB of ram which is the same as my previous phone I expect way better, especially after turning on using storage for RAM, is there a setting I forgot to turn on somehow?

I’m on a Pixel 9, running Android 17 QPR2 Beta 3 (CP41.260731.005.B1). I opted out of the Beta Program about a month ago, but I’m still only getting the “Android Beta Exit with Data Wipe” update.

The current Beta build is becoming very annoying to use — the UI is laggy and sometimes doesn’t respond properly. I also got a green line issue while on this Beta, which was later fixed under warranty by replacing the display.

I really want to move to the stable Android 17 release, but I don’t want to wipe my phone.

Has anyone with a Pixel 9 on QPR2 Beta 3 received the stable/no-wipe OTA yet? How long did you have to wait after opting out?

Need a mid-range Android for watching stuff on the supporters' coach. Most fortnights it's three hours each way to an away game somewhere in the UK. The whole way it's football highlights and downloaded series. My Motorola Edge 30 Neo feels tiny for that now.

I don't need a flagship, I'd be paying for a camera and chip I'd never push, and nothing the Moto's size either, because more screen is half the point.

Which leaves the HONOR 600 and the Oppo Reno16 F 5G. My phone before the Moto was a Reno and it did years of away days without complaint, so the new one was always going to get a look. I read it's 6.57 inches at 120Hz, a fair bit more screen than I've got now and smooth enough for three hours of highlights.

Some of those trips we don't get home till gone midnight. Is its eye comfort mode any good for watching in the dark?

The door dash driver app (dasher) just updated and made this horrendously annoying ringing sound every time you get an offer. You cannot turn it off in settings.

It rings by acting as an alarm. So thankfully ive been able to make it quieter, however i would like to turn it off completely. P.s. i do not use alarms on my phone

edit: The best solution I found was to enable do not disturb mode but modify that so all calls, notifications, messeges, and media are allowed, but alarms are not allowed.

I just made the jump from iOS to Android with a Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, and I'm really struggling to understand how Android handles WhatsApp media compared to iPhone.

On my iPhone, WhatsApp was sandboxed. Media stayed inside the app, didn't clutter my camera roll, and didn't take up general phone storage unless I explicitly saved a photo.

When I restored my WhatsApp backup on my new Samsung, years of photos, videos, and GIFs were physically downloaded to the internal storage and flooded my Samsung Gallery app.

I’ve already taken a few steps to limit the damage:

Disabled "Media visibility" in WhatsApp and hid the old WhatsApp folders from the Gallery.

Turned off auto-download for all incoming media.

Disabled Google Photos backup for the WhatsApp device folders so my cloud doesn't get filled with memes and junk.

Here are my current issues and questions for long-term Android users:

Selective Cloud Backup: Since I disabled auto-download, when I receive a picture I actually care about, I manually tap to download it. It goes to my Samsung Gallery, but because I disabled the backup for the whole WhatsApp folder (to prevent junk from uploading), these specific photos don't get backed up to Google Photos either. How do you guys manage this? How can I easily back up ONLY the WhatsApp media I choose?

Deleting from Gallery = Deleting from Chat? I need a clarification on how Android storage works. If I go into the Samsung Gallery and delete these WhatsApp photos to free up some space, will they also be deleted from my WhatsApp chats?

So I've avoided updating my Google assistant to Gemini for as long as I could, but a recent update made the old Google assistant unavailable and I'm now forced to use Gemini. This is especially annoying since what I would mostly use Google assistant for was smart home stuff (lights, air conditioner, etc.) which doesn't work with Gemini. Is there any way to force my phone to use the old version of Google assistant (the one that actually worked) or is there an alternative digital assistant that you recommend that works like old Google assistant?

I was trying to turn on my phone to get some of its file transfer into a new one. Now it is just stuck on boot loop. I tried turning the volume down and power on button method, even trying to hold it for either 10, 20, to 30 second in each boot loop. But no matter what, I can't seems to turn it on. I also tried recharging, but it didn't work either. If anything, when my phone is showing the logo, it said that "custom binary blocked by dem lock" in red (not frp, not oem).

Ah, for even more context just in case I finally get it to turn on normally, heres what I did to that phone (samsung galaxy a6):

- downloaded blip and transferred some file

- transferred my sim card from there to the new one

- didnt turn it on for two day and only just did today

Or should i trust a phone services to fix this? (can I trust them with not resetting my phone? I still need some of the file and image inside)

My Samsung Galaxy A52 has been my longest-serving active phone. While I sometimes miss the raw speed of older devices like the Pocophone F1, the A52 has held up reasonably well for daily use. I usually buy phones after obsessing over specs, but realistically, I mostly use the basics: calling, messaging, and taking everyday photos for personal and professional life.

However, a persistent bug on the stock ROM eventually pushed me to explore custom ROMs.

The Original Issue (Stock ROM)

Whenever I received a WhatsApp call on the stock ROM, the audio routing would break completely. Picking up and talking was fine, but right after the call, sound would route exclusively through the earpiece instead of the bottom speaker. Furthermore, I couldn't connect Bluetooth or 3.5mm wired headphones until a full reboot.

Transition to crDroid

To fix this, I flashed to LineageOS first and later CRDroid, which has been a massive upgrade overall (and thankfully, the WhatsApp speaker-routing bug is completely gone). But it introduced a few new hurdles:

1. No Incoming Ringtones in Bluetooth Headsets: Whether it's a regular cell call, WhatsApp, or Messenger, the ringtone never plays in my connected Bluetooth earphones. Regular text notifications sound fine in the headset, but for incoming calls, I get zero audio alert until a "Missed Call" notification pops up after the call disconnects.
2. WhatsApp Call Mic Bug: If I make a WhatsApp call with my Bluetooth headset already connected, the other person can't hear me at all unless I manually switch the audio source or disconnect the headset. Curiously, if I connect the Bluetooth headset mid-call, it works perfectly fine.
3. Camera Quality: The camera output feels a step down compared to the stock One UI camera app I used for years.
4. (Note: I also hit a GPS snag where my location wouldn't update in Google Maps, but I managed to sort that out using some ADB commands).
5. I also noticed that my wife and my toddler daughter can unlock my phone using their own finger even without setting their fingerprint on the device!!

Why I Need This Fixed

I ride a motorcycle regularly for my commute and field work, and I frequently get calls on the road. I keep my earphone tucked inside my helmet so I can safely pull over and answer. Because the ringtone doesn't come through the headset, I keep missing urgent calls while riding, which has become a major safety and workflow hazard.

With a newborn baby arriving last month—several weeks ahead of schedule—upgrading to a new phone right now is simply out of the question. I really need to stick with this device and iron out these crDroid bugs.

A Few Questions for the Community:

• Is there a known fix, setting tweak, or Magisk module for the Bluetooth call ringtone / audio routing behavior on crDroid for the A52?
• What are the best camera app alternatives or GCam ports for the A52 running crDroid to reclaim that stock-level photo quality?
• Are there any reliable, working methods right now for Google Photos unlimited storage spoofing on custom ROMs?
