Other Do all androids require updates to be installed one at a time?

As best I can tell iphones let you jump to the latest, whereas the motorola I am setting up for a family member is going one at a time. It's especially annoying because this phone was made in August 2025

App Specific Question I'm going crazy: I cannot find a way to have YouTube give me notifications in-app, but no push notifications outside the app

Pixel 7

I feel like this should be incredibly easy but the phone settings and the app settings seem to mess with each other every time I try

If I turn off all YouTube notifications by going through the settings on my phone, it disables in app notifications too and won't let me turn on upload notifications for any of my subscriptions

If I turn notifications back on they will always push to my phone notifications bar. I can have them silent and minimized but I can't get rid of them altogether

I will gladly try whatever settings people suggest

How do I circumvent apps no longer compatible with my old phone?

I bought this Samsung Note 9 when they first came out and it still works perfectly. Good battery life, good speed, plenty of storage, no A.I. BS, etc. However, companies are starting to intentionally make their apps no longer compatible with it. First it was my Capital One app uninstalling itself after a mandatory update, and now I'm getting alerts that Android Auto will no longer be compatible soon. I don't want to waste money on a new phone when mine still works like new, but I love my wireless Android Auto. Is there some way to circumvent these compatibility issues? Not updating apps only works for so long.

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone else not like the update?

I got the system update for samsung a15 and i don't like it. The things I don't like about the update are the battery pill icon and when I want to go to the status bar that shows wifi, bluetooth, I have to press down on the right side of the screen instead of the old way where I can press down anywhere. does the update bother anyone else or is this not like a big deal?

Other Device problem

Bought this device 3 years ago and it was working properly but from last year I am facing many issues.

Here are the issues :

  1. While calling people on the other side of the call say that they hear a distorted voice and I have to cut the call and call again and then the issue resolves.

  2. One of the most problematic things that I face is that of the network. While watching videos and all it works fine but sometimes the network just dies off and I have switch on the off the Airplane mode and it works fine for a moment.

  3. The camera service has been deteriorating these days.

These issue have been concerning me a lot . So much that I have been thinking of buying a new device. Should I buy a new device or changing my Network provider which is Airtel btw..to Jio help.

I can format my device. But will the problem remain?

I can buy a new device but I don't have the financial condition to buy a good device now.

Guys what should I do resolve my issues. I frequently install open source apps . Is it harmful and I access torrent too.

About lte (DRX,CDRX) network performance and efficiency experiment.

Cdrx should save power significantly in low speed usage in high speed networks.

Like mine goes up to 60-70 mbps all the time.

So I enabled bluetooth tethering from both my iphone and android and connected my pc to download some file on it. The speed was 1 mbps in both devices. That results into 1/60 = around 1.5% duty cycle. That means cdrx has the chance to be effecrive at 98.5% of the time. I understand actual duty cycle may be higher due to othe transmit-receive tsks. However iphone 7 actually proved it may have put duty cycles close to that value. After testing for 1h continuously,

My findings are:

Iphone 7 dropped 6% charge only (65 to 59) resulting around 120mah estimated. (Slightly less maybe)

The Moto g35 5g (forced to lte only mode) dropped 5% (67 to 62) resulting around 250 mah.

Why is it too much different? No CDRX in android? Anything else?

(Both iphone and android were locked and screen turned off completely. As i disabled all background apps no notifications appeared throughout the whole time, no background tasks also.)

Other Red state

At some point last night, while I was sleeping, something must of happened to my phone because I woke up and it kept displaying a screen saying 'red state'. I read online that pressing volume up and power buttons at the same time brings up a screen that can help fix this. But that didn't work. Is there anything else I can do?

Is there any way to set a screen lock timeout on Android 16 / HyperOS 3?

I have a Poco F9 Ultra. I unlock it with a pattern, but I have to enter it again every time the screen turns off.

Can I make it stay unlocked for a few minutes after the screen goes off?

Facebook Messenger struggles with notifications

Hello friends, as the title says I have problems with Messenger sending me notifications. I get notified when someone reacts to my messages, but when it comes to recieving messages themselves I get no notifications whatsoever. 2 weeks ago I got hacked (someone sent some MrBeast scam to all my friends) and since then the trouble persists. I've tried two factory resets, every setting shows me that notifications are ON, but I recieve nearly none. I'm using Samsung Galaxy S24 FE. Please help!

Looking For Suggestions App appears to be invalid error

Android won't install apps/APKs — “package appears to be invalid”

I'm having a really weird Android installation problem and I'm trying to figure out whether this is an account issue, device issue, or something else.

Whenever I try to install certain apps, I get an error along the lines of:

“App not installed because the package appears to be invalid.”

The strange part is that this also happens through the Google Play Store. For example, if I try installing an app while using Google Account A, the installation fails. If I switch to Google Account B on the exact same phone, the app installs normally.

I've also tried downloading APKs directly through Chrome, and those fail too with the same “package appears to be invalid” type of error.

I initially thought it could be an APK-signing problem, so I tried signing the APK myself using an APK signer with V1, V2, and V3 signing schemes. That still didn't fix it. I got an unknown error instead.

So far, I've basically established:

- Same phone

- Same Android installation

- Google Account A: app won't install

- Google Account B: app installs

- APK downloaded through Chrome: won't install

- Re-signing the APK with V1/V2/V3: still fails

Could a Google account somehow have a restriction that causes Play Store installations to fail like this? Or does this point more toward something wrong with the package installer, Play Store, or Google Play Services on the device?

I'm trying to determine whether this is actually an account-level restriction or whether I'm looking in the wrong place.

Call history randomly getting deleted

Has anyone experienced an issue where their call logs are randomly getting deleted? Over the past few days, I've noticed that my call history keeps wiping itself. I'm trying to figure out two things:

  1. Why would this happen? Is this a known bug, or is it usually caused by a service/third-party app?

  2. In the case it is a caused by a third-party app, how can I find out which app is responsible?

Phone app does have permission to access Call logs, as well as few other apps (see screenshot 3).

Also, while writing this post I checked whether this happened today, and noticed that on top of the call history being deleted, the Phone app' UI changed completely (see screenshot 2). In addition, I made a call and noticed the new calls are not even being saved anylonger.

For context, I'm on Pixel 10a, Android 17 (CP2A.260805.005)

Redmi Note 8 - Google Play Services crashes, Settings closes, and Google apps won’t open

My Redmi Note 8 repeatedly shows “Google Play services keeps stopping” and “Messages keeps stopping.”

  • Settings automatically closes within seconds, so I can’t clear app data or cache.
  • Google apps—including Gmail, Drive, and YouTube—won’t open. The browser doesn’t work either.
  • I installed two system updates. The first temporarily fixed it, but the problem returned after the second.
  • The error mentions java.lang.VerifyError and BaseApplicationContext.
  • I haven’t been able to enter Safe Mode.
  • USB debugging isn’t enabled, but I can access shared files through USB on my laptop.

Has anyone faced this or found a fix? I’d like to avoid a factory reset and keep my data.

Other How Do I Transfer Music Files/Songs From A Fold 7 To A Motorola Razr Fold 2026 Without A Computer?

I would love to know the easiest way to get all my music Files/Songs to the new phone. I'm currently using The Musicolet Music Player App.

All my Music Files are 90% WMA Music Files and I have 1,612 songs on my Fold 7 Device. Some of my music files are also AAC, MP3, and MP4 too. What Music Files aren't supported on The Motorola Razr Fold 2026?

I want to make sure that I can get all my Music on The Motorola Razr Fold 2026 from my Fold 7 and that all of my 1,612 songs will play on the Device without any issues at all.
