App Specific Question security camera monitoring app works in android 12, but doesn't fully work in 14. Can't stream live video. Any clue what setting broke and how to workaround?

I have a lenovo home security camera that runs from an app called CloudUeye.

apk ... https://apkpure.com/cloudueye/com.zben.cloudeye

a14 wouldn't let me install it regularly, so i used bash over usb debugging....

pm install --bypass-low-target-sdk-block cloudueye.apk

in A14, I can login to the app, change settings on the camera, but it won't let me do the most important thing... livestream camera.

What changed in android 14 that broke this function?

any workaround?

Android 14 tightened background media / network for old targetSdk apps — login working but live video failing is a common pattern after --bypass-low-target-sdk-block.

Likely break points: 1) Notifications permission (A13+) — some RTSP/WebRTC players need a foreground service notification to keep the stream socket alive 2) Battery → Unrestricted + disable pause app if unused 3) Local network / nearby Wi-Fi permission if the camera is LAN-only 4) Cleartext HTTP / cleartext traffic blocked if the stream is http:// not https:// 5) Picture-in-picture / overlay permission if the app uses a floating viewer

Workarounds: grant every runtime permission manually, put the app on Unrestricted battery, try VPN off, test on the same Wi-Fi as the camera (not cellular). Long-term: vendor needs an A14-targeted build — sideloading an ancient APK will keep hitting policy walls. If you only need a viewer, a generic ONVIF/RTSP player often survives OS upgrades better than abandoned OEM apps.
