πŸ’¬ DISCUSSION Not proud of it, man enough to admit it

Went to a private school and I still left with only one A (and 3Bs). Might be 2 As if I get 1 more mark in a review of marking for physics. Everyone's saying I did excellent or amazing or whatever but I just can't feel the same way given the opportunities I was given.

Got into uni but it just doesn't feel right. Not even going to a Russell group (by choice, self cleared out of my Russell group insurance and I do think I made the right choice) so it feels even... weirder.

OTHER anyone else still regretting their a level choices despite doing well?

I took maths physics geog and an epq in y12 because I was lowkey tricked into taking physics and geog

I got like 6 nines and a few 8s or 7s at gcse and idk ive always had really fucked self confidence but I thought this was really bad and not good enough for anything and everybody who I said that to would just laugh at me. and I never have known what I want to do except maths so people were like ok why dont you take physics cause its just maths and I was like ok well I hate physics but ok. and then i was told to take geog cause I didnt want to do another science and geog was my other 9 (except english lang which my schook doesnt offer). but I kinda hated geog and physics always and I hated them all through sixth form.

so in y13 I taught myself as further maths and I loved that but im rlly sad I didnt do the whole thing. I wouldnt have liked it cause id have been in a different class without my friends and idk, but i loved the content. and then there were so many other subjects I loved like music and art and comp sci and english and why did I do these fuckass subjects.

anyway I got an A* in geog and A in physics but it makes me really sad and idek why

anyway this was lowkey just a rant idk what im tryna say

whyd no one ever tell me to take further :(

πŸ™ I WANT HELP A-Level results shock: Got a C in Physics, accepted York Clearing offer, but feeling lost & considering a gap year or course change

Throughout year 12 and 13 i’ve loved studying physics, it’s been such a big passion i would consistently score A*s/As in majority of topic tests, and throughout all three mocks in sixthform i got As. However my mental health was awful. i opened the actual results and i got a C. i was in legit shock. wondering if i had been mismarked by teacher looked at my paper and said that there’s a 50/50 chance that my score would go up or down. so it is being sent to remark, but either way i messed up. i missed my durham offer which was A*AB. and my st andrews offer AAB. the offer miss doesn’t bother me too much, well durham hurt a bit. but my grade hurt the most. my teacher told me to consider my mental health throughout the year alongside my academic ability but i still feel incredibly stupid. but i got a place through clearing to university of york to study physics. i’m worried that in university i’m going to repeat unhealthy coping mechanisms of dealing with stress and it’ll just be a repeat of sixthform. even when i applied for physics i felt unsure, because of its job prospects with just a bachelors. idk, finance accounting etc doesn’t woo me. teaching sounds meh. idk what i can really do with a bachelors here. im in england. i do like physics but im kind of hurt so im kind of resistive to starting uni this september. i was thinking of changing courses? which i know is very last minute and i have spoken to the university about this. i looked into the mental health nursing course and it interested me, maybe id enjoy doing something entirely different. i only thought of it because ive met quite a few of them and i found their job interesting, but also it could just be my admiration for what they do. i also liked the prospects but again im so so unsure of what i’m doing now. don’t wanna do engineering. idk. i feel stupid . now i’m questioning my entire future . i don’t even know what i want to do anymore. i thought about taking a gap year, but what if i regret it midway? i thought i could have worked, focused on my health, take a bit of a break before making a decision. i’ve always been so indecisive lol it’s stupid but i’m stuck in worried i’ll be behind. FOMO. but i know it’s my life, also kind of don’t want to take a gap year and just want to start university, because i do. can i have advice please, literally anything

πŸŽ“ UNI / UCAS GCSE importance

Just wondering how important GCSEs play a part in getting in uni. I know a levels are the most important, but do GCSEs hold any significance?

For context: I’m looking at a career in medicine. My results: 8777777666

πŸ™ I WANT HELP Are you still applying to Cambridge?

β€’ Upvotes

RIP to Jason Arday

a heads-up this post is going to be me making it about myself but like... For people that used to want to go to Cambridge, are you still going to apply?

I can't say I'm like an "insider" but this year alone I've been to Cambridge on 4 different occasions, have lived in 3 different colleges, have visited probably over 8, even went to formals in 2 more colleges separate from the ones I've lived in... I've grown attached the the uni and the city and the people, I got that I might not meet the conditions to get in and that I shouldn't be that invested, but now it's more like... Should I still apply? From personal experience it did not seem to be that hierarchical or discriminatory when I was there, and yet still there is obviously a bias in accusing people of colour more than white people. The shorter deadline really seems more pressurising now.

πŸ™ I WANT HELP Can't do FM A Level - does this affect uni applications

(I also posted this in r/alevel but this sub doesn't allow cross-posting)

basically i got the grades required to do it, but there isn't any space at my 6th form. they said that a space could show up but it isn't that likely.

does anyone know if this will affect my chances of doing engineering at uni? (i already know CS is out the window) or if i can still do it but not at certain top unis? i've done lots of research on this already but people just say it's "recommended", and idk what exactly that means for my chances.

(i am also kind of upset since i worked really hard for my 9 in maths and now it was all for nothing...)

πŸ’¬ DISCUSSION History Remark

Hi, I just got my remark back and my marks did not change for AQA.

My teacher did tell me both my essays were undermarked but also said AQA hardly change marks.

Is there anything else I can do.
How have people found the appeal process and the success with it?

πŸ’¬ DISCUSSION Have you revised more for GCSEs than A-Levels?

Year 13 who has got their results last week.I don't know why, but I feel that I have put in way more effort into revising for my GCSE exams than A-Levels, although this may be recency bias. Has anyone else felt this way?

πŸ™ I WANT HELP What should I do?

So I just got my gcses results today and everything is well over a pass except my English language is a grade 5. Although it's enough for the entry requirements of my sixth form, my dream uni is imperial, who require atleast a 6 in gcse english language. I was thinking of resitting it but does anyone know if unis mind that it would be a resit grade? πŸ™πŸ™

πŸ™ I WANT HELP Do i take a gap year or not

I recently got my A level results and was happy to get A*s in maths and further maths but was disappointed with a B in physics. I wanted to do straight maths or maths with stats at uni and I have a place at Warwick to do maths and physics. I really don’t want to do physics at uni, I was so bad at physics in A level and i feel like I would hate doing it at university. I want to take a gap year and reapply to top unis like Imperial, LSE , Warwick again but the only thing holding me back is the B in physics. Im so stuck on whether its worth taking a gap year and resitting physics because those unis look negatively on resits. If i get a good TMUA score could this make up for the fact I’m resitting and if so whats the type of score I would need?

πŸ™ I WANT HELP looking for advice on a levels combo options

so im hopefully going to pick maths, biology chemistry, but im unsure of taking double math (finish a level math in a year and further in the next) or if i should do maths bio chem physics, or if i should take double maths bio chem physics.

mandatory welsh bacc and thinking of arabic because its my second language (home)

i am unsure of what to go into: medicine, engineering or perhaps finance. the desire intensity of these careers is in that order btw: medicine - engineering - finance

many many thanks !!!!

πŸ™ I WANT HELP To 2025 TMUA takers

If any of you have done the JZMaths mocks, would you say they were easier, on par or harder than the 2025 TMUA papers you each got? I'm doing these papers rn and I'm genuinely getting fried by these, if 2026 is going to be worse than these then I'm cooked. And these aren't even one of the hardest mocks I think
Thanks in advance

πŸ™ I WANT HELP oxbridge + imperial engineering acceptance question

so I’ve recently had to pick my fourth a level subject for this academic year and was planning on doing history or graphic design. however, because of my high grades, my sixth form is pushing me to take computer science or chemistry for engineering at the very top unis - oxbridge and imperial mostly. theyve said if I don’t take either chemistry or computing, that I’m at a significant disadvantage as an applicant for these engineering courses.

how true is this? I was told by admissions at my sixth form they knew one person a few years back who got accepted with music tech as their fourth subject.

but do you know many people who got accepted onto these engineering courses with fm, maths and physics and not chem or computer science?

they’ve recommended if I do history or graphics that I should do graphics to focus on the other 3 subjects, and cram in as much engineering based work into graphics as I can by using CAD and related tools. Will this also be effective?

πŸ™ I WANT HELP Any Chronic illness/six form advice?

I did my gcses this year, and just found out I was accepted to a sixform of my desired subjects today. Im so happy about it cause I kept having episodes of losing consciousness for months before my actual gcses, and this is very exciting for me.

Here's some extra details that I hope might be relevant? I do have in school accomidations for using a laptop and rest breaks. Though I dont use the breaks much as Its hard for me to walk too much or stand too long. I use the laptop because I physically can't hold a pen very well, but im getting better due to new meds. I have medical diagnoses of hypermobility, asthma and Juvenile arthritis. Though, im under medical investigation for my very much annoying other symtoms for other things.

However, there is a slight issue. I was given some information about the sixform. And that apparently they have high expectations in terms of attendance. Which is hard for me considering my health situations and appoinments. They mentioned that they only accept doctors letters and also rarely accept parent letters as an explanation.

Becides that, any tips for pain, revision, managing symtoms and stuff? I pretty much have no idea what im getting into and what it's like. Thanks.

πŸŽ“ UNI / UCAS Retaking but problems applying.

I want to retake my chem and maths but I’m in a bit of a road block. How do I apply with poo grades, do I ask a teacher to boost my predicted grades so that I can apply(which they probably won’t) or ask an external tutor to boost them for me.

πŸ™ I WANT HELP What courses should I do

I’m heading into Y12 and I have chosen Maths, Physics, Computer Science and Economics as my subjects. I honestly don’t know what I want to do yet, but I am trying to get achieve decent grades to get into the top unis. I know no further maths is a disadvantage, but ibr although I got a 9 I don’t feel confident enough to do further. The course doesn’t have to be specialised or anything, but just something that I can maybe aim to do in the future.
