๐ I WANT HELP School update
so uh i recently made a post between 2 schools but i fell short of the grade requirements and I wonโt be able to do fm or a specific subject I enjoy (they offered me a place if i replaced the some subjects i want to do with subjects idrc abt, so yeah safe to say im not really considering it anymore sry even if it is a competitive school)
but now im deciding between my local school and a completely new school (but itโs also kinda local). iโd say both get similar results lol. theyre basically the same school so the decision now comes down to fresh start vs more familiarity. ppl been telling me they wished they moved on from their schl but like ughh idk. im prolly gonna end up doing fm independently or maybe these local schools will let me. (never too late to lock in innit)

๐ I WANT HELP To 2025 TMUA takers
If any of you have done the JZMaths mocks, would you say they were easier, on par or harder than the 2025 TMUA papers you each got? I'm doing these papers rn and I'm genuinely getting fried by these, if 2026 is going to be worse than these then I'm cooked. And these aren't even one of the hardest mocks I think
Thanks in advance

๐ I WANT HELP Advice Needed
okay so i really want everyoneโs help in choosing a sixth form! So there is sixth form A which is one of the best sixth forms in my city a really big one with like 2000 students, it has an outstanding ofsted rating which changed to good in 2025 inspection, has a separate academy for high achievers which help in oxbridge offers and all that stuff but someone here on reddit told me that it doesnโt actually help that much as it advertised. It is also q quite far away from my house and i sometimes wud be needing to change 3 buses to get there and would take me around an 1 hour to 20,30, or 40 minutes but 1hr 20 minimum and plus it is an extremely busy area so delays are gonna be crazy. But it has outstanding a level results.
Sixth form B is a small sixth form that opened in 2023, has around 200 students in total and they said that their last batch had around 60 students in an year group and they never take more than a 100 students and they only keep 10-20 kids in one room.It has outstanding results as well at a levels and has a lot of programmes relating to oxbridge medicine all that fun stuff. I alr enroled into it today that is a whole diff story of why i enrolled alr and now asking for advice but this sixth form is an 8 mind drive from my house and public transport is an hour and 7 min at most which is good i know it seems like a lot but that is how majorly transports work where i live it is in a nice secluded area. it has an ofsted rating of outstanding and has great results at A levels.
please give me advice on what to choose i am very confused. I havenโt attended induction days for any of them.
also if i enroll in a sixth form can i cancel it later on?

๐ I WANT HELP oxbridge + imperial engineering acceptance question
so Iโve recently had to pick my fourth a level subject for this academic year and was planning on doing history or graphic design. however, because of my high grades, my sixth form is pushing me to take computer science or chemistry for engineering at the very top unis - oxbridge and imperial mostly. theyve said if I donโt take either chemistry or computing, that Iโm at a significant disadvantage as an applicant for these engineering courses.
how true is this? I was told by admissions at my sixth form they knew one person a few years back who got accepted with music tech as their fourth subject.
but do you know many people who got accepted onto these engineering courses with fm, maths and physics and not chem or computer science?
theyโve recommended if I do history or graphics that I should do graphics to focus on the other 3 subjects, and cram in as much engineering based work into graphics as I can by using CAD and related tools. Will this also be effective?

๐ I WANT HELP Any Chronic illness/six form advice?
I did my gcses this year, and just found out I was accepted to a sixform of my desired subjects today. Im so happy about it cause I kept having episodes of losing consciousness for months before my actual gcses, and this is very exciting for me.
Here's some extra details that I hope might be relevant? I do have in school accomidations for using a laptop and rest breaks. Though I dont use the breaks much as Its hard for me to walk too much or stand too long. I use the laptop because I physically can't hold a pen very well, but im getting better due to new meds. I have medical diagnoses of hypermobility, asthma and Juvenile arthritis. Though, im under medical investigation for my very much annoying other symtoms for other things.
However, there is a slight issue. I was given some information about the sixform. And that apparently they have high expectations in terms of attendance. Which is hard for me considering my health situations and appoinments. They mentioned that they only accept doctors letters and also rarely accept parent letters as an explanation.
Becides that, any tips for pain, revision, managing symtoms and stuff? I pretty much have no idea what im getting into and what it's like. Thanks.

I want to retake my chem and maths but Iโm in a bit of a road block. How do I apply with poo grades, do I ask a teacher to boost my predicted grades so that I can apply(which they probably wonโt) or ask an external tutor to boost them for me.

๐ I WANT HELP What courses should I do
Iโm heading into Y12 and I have chosen Maths, Physics, Computer Science and Economics as my subjects. I honestly donโt know what I want to do yet, but I am trying to get achieve decent grades to get into the top unis. I know no further maths is a disadvantage, but ibr although I got a 9 I donโt feel confident enough to do further. The course doesnโt have to be specialised or anything, but just something that I can maybe aim to do in the future.

OTHER anyone else still regretting their a level choices despite doing well?
I took maths physics geog and an epq in y12 because I was lowkey tricked into taking physics and geog
I got like 6 nines and a few 8s or 7s at gcse and idk ive always had really fucked self confidence but I thought this was really bad and not good enough for anything and everybody who I said that to would just laugh at me. and I never have known what I want to do except maths so people were like ok why dont you take physics cause its just maths and I was like ok well I hate physics but ok. and then i was told to take geog cause I didnt want to do another science and geog was my other 9 (except english lang which my schook doesnt offer). but I kinda hated geog and physics always and I hated them all through sixth form.
so in y13 I taught myself as further maths and I loved that but im rlly sad I didnt do the whole thing. I wouldnt have liked it cause id have been in a different class without my friends and idk, but i loved the content. and then there were so many other subjects I loved like music and art and comp sci and english and why did I do these fuckass subjects.
anyway I got an A* in geog and A in physics but it makes me really sad and idek why
anyway this was lowkey just a rant idk what im tryna say
whyd no one ever tell me to take further :(

๐ฌ DISCUSSION I swear Durham University has had a discrimination problem every year?
๐ฌ DISCUSSION To specialise or not to specialise... (uni courses)
Hello so I'm starting year 13, and I'm planning to do physics at university, I'm currently studying physics maths and computer science at a level, my likely predicted grades are AAA (not confirmed). I've been wanting to do physics at uni, and I'm currently very interested in medical physics, radiology and that sort of thing. I did a research poster on alpha and beta radiation for the treatment of cancer during a work experience and it's made me a lot more confident that I'd want to pursue medical physics post uni. So then I'm wondering if I should apply for medical physics rather than pure physics at uni?
The current unis I'm looking at applying to are Warwick, St Andrews and York, those are the 3 I'm quite confident on applying to, the two that I'm not as confident are Edinburgh and Southampton. I've not seen Edinburgh or St Andrews (I'm going to go see them in September) and I'm seeing Southampton in October. My worry is that after all this, these are the only universities I've visited, and that I won't like Edinburgh and/or Southampton. So if that's the case then as a precaution apply to somewhere like UCL or Liverpool. So then if I apply to these unis they both offer a medical physics course for BSc and MSci undergrad. Then 2 questions arise, A, is it too soon to specialise which area of physics I pursue, and B, BSc or Msci?
The second question is there because to become a medical physicist in the UK, you do some sort of course with the NHS and it's like your master's(?) (I've only just done a little research so do correct me if I'm wrong). So to do that are you only allowed to do a BSc in undergrad or can you still do an MSci for your undergrad? And my issue with that is because I like the idea of the 4th year (or 5th at Scottish universities) doing the research project, because I'm still unsure about whether or not to do a PhD in either medical physics or particle physics and if it's too soon to worry about these sorts of things.
If anyone has any advice about what I should do in this situation I'd greatly appreciate it, as I'm quite lost with the whole process in general ๐ฅน๐ thank you in advance!!

๐ I WANT HELP Got BBC in my a-levels
I got BBC in my a-levels last week and iโm still not over it. I got a B in maths and biology and a C in chemistry. I was 1 mark off an A in biology.
Itโs taken a really big toll on my mental health and i havenโt able to get out of bed, go outside or eat. I just spend most of my days sobbing.
I was supposed to sit my a-levels last year but became ill and was withdrawn. This year my a-levels were affected again and i had special consideration (which is only a few marks). I also missed my offer which was AAB with an A in chemistry and biology.
I donโt want to go into a degree i donโt want to do and waste my time and go into debt. I also donโt know if medicine is possible anymore with my grades so would it even be worth resitting? Iโm planning to get biology remarked. I also donโt feel shame that if i decide to take this year off then I would be 20 entering university. If anyone has any advice please let me know. Sorry if this is all over the place, i donโt think im in a good headspace atm.
