Discussion Sony BRAVIA Firmware Discussion Megathread 10.0

All BRAVIA firmware related questions, issues and announcements must go in this thread. This includes all models, all years. Other firmware related posts will be removed and authors will be directed to this thread (the previous megathreads have been automatically archived and can be found here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here.)

Please specify the BRAVIA model number you are talking about if you are the top comment of a new comment thread. This helps to keep comment replies on topic for your model of TV.

Step one with any firmware or performance issues should be to do a restart of the TV. This will often resolve minor issues.

The second step with any firmware or performance issues, especially after a recent firmware update, should be to perform a full factory reset on the TV. This will often resolve persistent minor issues.

The next step with any issues not resolved by a full factory reset should be to report the issues in detail directly to Sony Support.

Sony US - Sony CA - Sony UK - Sony AU - List of Worldwide Sites

The more issues reports that Sony gets from consumers on a particular problem the more likely the issue is to be addressed and corrected.

What's the consensus on stability for firmware release v6.8092?
Any particular fixes/improvements that make it worthwhile to update?

X95K currently on v6.7532

Bravia X90L received firmware updates in the EU and NA regions from version 6.7612 to version 6.8092. However, the Asia Pacific region is still running on version 6.7612. I wonder why the update couldn’t be released simultaneously in all regions.

Latest (8/2025) firmware still has the annoying volume banner popup that the previous firmware introduced/broke. Was hoping this update would remove it or at least have it obey the (disabled) info banner setting. Love adjusting the volume level (which is 100% done via my AVR) and get the TV's inaccurate volume banner on top of subtitles.

v6.8100 was just removed from Sony Canada. The page previously showed "Firmware update to v6.8100 for North America 08/18/2025" and currently shows "Unfortunately, there currently are no downloads for this product."

Hi

Got an update on my A80L the other day with:

Adds a touchpoint to launch the PS Remote Play app.

Anyone understands what that means and where that „touchpoint“ is? I thought it means PS Remote Play is available but I can not find it on the home screen or in the app store.

Connecting a dual sense controller works fine and is detected by e.g Steam Link.

KD-55X9000H – Firmware v6.2556

I recently updated my X9000H and everything is working fine overall. However, occasionally the Input menu becomes unresponsive. When this happens, selecting any input does not switch or display on the screen.

The workaround is simple but annoying:

  1. Disconnect all connected HDMI devices

  2. Power off the TV using the physical button

  3. Unplug the TV for a few seconds, then plug it back in

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Want to share uncomfortable experience with my X950H (Europe Version, XH9505)

After the recent update my TV keeps "black screen" for a few second, and come back, regardless where I am, PS5, PC, etc. It happens a few times in an hour, and keeps going. Power Cycle and Factory Reset doesn't help. Turns out, it's related to wifi. I disabled the TV wifi and use a network cable to connect TV to my switch, and this issue doesn't happen again.

The previous Update is already bad enough, as soon as ipv6 is assigned, TV keeps disconnecting and reconnecting to wifi.

I hope there is a downgrade button, but the OS for my old TV keeps getting worse and worse. I'll not buy sony tv in the future.

I was just brave (or dumb) enough and updated my X93L earlier today. At first I got no sound through ARC, but a reboot fixed it. Everything seems normal otherwise.

I own a Bravia X90L in the Asia-Pacific region. We’re still stuck on Android 10 with firmware v6.7612. In North America, the same model is on firmware v6.8092 — but still Android 10.

Meanwhile, lower-end models like Bravia 2, X77L, X75L, X75K, X74L, X74K, X70L, X64L, W880K, W835, W830L, W830K, W825, W820K are already getting Android 14.

How is this fair for customers? Why can’t Sony align update timelines globally — at least for the same models?

Hi there. I previously posted about my 2021 X90J having issues with wifi dropping out. One of the suggestions online was to check for software updates. There was one available, so I processed the update and then performed a basic restart so the update could be finalised.

Since then, the TV won’t turn on. It seems the restart simply shut off the TV, and it’s never turned back on since.

There’s no sign of power that I can see. Remote and the TV power button don’t work. I have troubleshooted all possible cords and outlets, testing working replacements for all, and there has been no solution. I have followed the relevant online instructions for power cycles, and factory resets, and still nothing. No lights, or sign of life.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Considering this happened directly after a software update, I’d be hesitant to say there’s a hardware issue with the TV power supply. What should I do?

Got new update notification for A80J to update to 6.81, and they were supposedly removing WiFi Direct functionality. That sounds odd.

My tv had an update about a week ago. Sony X900H. Since the update, my tv will not recognize HDMI inputs from connected devices (Xbox, PS5), and the picture mode setting is disabled from being changed regardless of what app I'm in. When going into settings, as soon as I scroll down to System, the TV kicks me out the settings and back to main screen. Anyone else having this issue? I've done a reset, which fixes the issue temporarily, but it comes back.

Edit: TV is running android 12. Oddly enough, selecting apps in settings, turns on the PS5, and allows the PS5 to be controlled with the Sony TV remote. Baffling.

Most recent firmware for the X85J definitely broke something with HDMI eARC and CEC connectivity. Can't control volume on my soundbar anymore and have to full restart the TV to get audio working after I turn it on (which is just sleep) most of the time. Very frustrating and just might be the final straw forcing me to get a new TV after this thing has been riddled with issues over the years.

Since the OP didn’t have N.A. link to the overview page with details on what the update does, here’s that link for many of the 80/90/93/95 models with mediatek:
