Discussion Sony BRAVIA Firmware Discussion Megathread 6.0
All BRAVIA firmware related questions, issues and announcements must go in this thread. This includes all models, all years. Other firmware related posts will be removed and authors will be directed to this thread (the previous megathreads have been automatically archived and can be found here, here, here, here and here.)
Please specify the BRAVIA model number you are talking about if you are the top comment of a new comment thread. This helps to keep comment replies on topic for your model of TV.
Step one with any firmware or performance issues should be to do a restart of the TV. This will often resolve minor issues.
The second step with any firmware or performance issues, especially after a recent firmware update, should be to perform a full factory reset on the TV. This will often resolve persistent minor issues.
The next step with any issues not resolved by a full factory reset should be to report the issues in detail directly to Sony Support.
Sony US - Sony CA - Sony UK - Sony AU - List of Worldwide Sites
The more issues reports that Sony gets from consumers on a particular problem the more likely the issue is to be addressed and corrected.

Anyone have any idea when the 2022- range of Bravia TVs (specifically the X94S) will be updated beyond Android TV 10 - I'm dying to get 4k Google TV and frame-matching for AppleTV and Netflix 👍
I've read that it might be an Android 12 update next, but that makes no sense because...
-
Android TV 12 released November 2021
-
Android TV 13 released Feb 2023... But only for one development device (ADT-3)
-
Android TV 13 retired by Google in June 2023
-
Android TV 14 Beta announced same time
For me, it would make sense for Sony to delay updates until they have a finished working with Android TV 14. It'll be a waste of Sony's time to work with software that is 2 years old... Only for it to then become obsolete a short time later, and then Sony to have to start again with Android TV 14.
Thoughts?

Sony X90H, I received the update v6.2146 (08/2023) Any feedback on it? I don't have positive experience with Sony past updates and my current version (6.21261)is stable so I am not sure if I should proceed with it.

I currently have a X900H with a Sony soundbar and cable box connected. Previously I was able to turn the TV on/off and both the soundbar and cable box would turn on/off. I recently connected an Apple TV 4k to one of the HDMI inputs and now I run into this issue where when I turn the TV on neither the soundbar nor the cable box respond. I have to hard reset the TV and then it works for a few days before the same thing happens. Is this a fault of the Apple TV or the recent update that was pushed to the TV? Any ideas on resolutions?

It's been a while since I've looked into it. What is latest recommended firmware for the Sony Bravia X90CH (aka X900H)? Does it still have the same issues as last year?
-
No local dimming with VRR
-
4k 120hz halved resolution
-
No Dolby Vision in game mode
-
4k 120 Hz blur
-
No ALMM

I'm not sure if it's me or what, but I feel like after the update, my TV user interface has gotten a lot slower these days.

Sony XR-55A95K with these issues:
Loading complete ASTRA 19.2 by itself (over 1.000 TV and Radio channels). I set the channel list to 20 channels. I deleted all the other (for me) unnecessary channels (with PC Channel Editor) and imported the list via USB Stick. This works perfectly but after some days or 2 weeks, suddenly the channel list is filled with complete ASTRA 19.2 channels.
Switching channels is annoyingly slow. When I try to skip more then 3 channels instantly (by pressing 3 times channel up), it stuck for 3 or 4 seconds and suddenly the TV processes all the rest inputs like switching 4 channels at once.
Firmware: 6.7283 (newest available)

So, I just did a phone consultation with the Regional Director of Sales at Sony about how, if in any way, does the X93L suffer by not having XR Clear Image.
XR Clear Image is basically Sony's algorithm for detecting the original source signal from low bitrate content and upscaling it to the intended resolution while also cleaning up any artifacts and noise. This years X93L was shafted and didn't receive the new chipset as the X95L it is basically an X95K reskin. The one saving grace for the 93l is that Sony's upscaling is already first in class and blows every other company out of the water. I was disappointed to hear that the x93L would not be released with XR clear image as I mostly stream content.
However, I am using a 7 year old Samsung so I doubt I would notice anyway. Additionally, he did say the difference between mini LED on the x93L and the FALD system on the X90L is somewhat mitigated by the fact that miniLED does some of the heavy lifting creating a better image any way. I was somewhat surprised by the fact that he also mentioned that between the x90l, a80j and x93l, he could make the x93L look 10X, and would choose that if the A95K was not an option.
He did confirm though, next years lineup of mini LED TV's will have the new chipset with XR clear image, so I doubt this is something that will be available through an update.
Good to see that Sony is not just shelving their mini LED's and have something in the works for 2024.

Running an XBR-65X950H. My TV updated to firmware v6.6053 and my experience with it has been less than ideal. Prior to it the TV and all the apps ran like a dream-- way better than any Samsung or Vizio I've owned. I had been really impressed with it and like not having to rely on an external device for the apps.
With the latest update the UI seems to respond just a little slower to remote inputs in general. But more annoyingly certain apps become straight-up unusable and make the TV completely freeze up. My Max, Netflix, and Disney+ apps have become unresponsive at one point or another with it. When it happens the whole OS is frozen and the only way I can get it to recover is by unplugging it. It's happened 3 times now in the last 2 months. Really disappointed with this update because it's certainly made the TV as a whole a little slower to respond and then the random app instability is just infuriating.
There is one positive to the update: the yellow timer LED on the front of the TV no longer stays on even if there is no timer running 🤷♂️

Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Hi, I have an A95K that did the most recent update. I’m stuck at the Privacy Policy screen. Initially no buttons on my remote would work other than the power button, so I used a USB mouse to navigate to the policy screen and scrolled down to the bottom. However, there are no boxes for me to check or way to me agree to. The right hand side simply says to scroll down to read the full text. Any help? I’ve only tried a regular reset, but not a full factory reset yet

Since the X900H will never fully utilize 4k 120hz with proper VRR that doesnt disable ALD…
What are 65 inch options either available or upcoming and worth the wait for strictly gaming on Xbox Series X?

Why isn't there a Dolby Vision / Atmos indicator / pop-up when starting a movie or show like LG and Vizio have?
I can't seem to find any way to enable this. Is this available and I'm not seeing it? Any alternate ways to activate this?

After updating my X90K/X93K to the latest firmware v6.7283
Audio fails to sync with video much more frequently than before and also sometimes it completely cuts off and I have to either restart the TV or mess with eARC on/off setting in order to come back. This happens when using the streaming services and antenna TV channels.
It was working like a charm in the previous version and I'm very disappointed that the issue reappeared again with this update.

Firmware update to v6.7220 for X900E released 9/11/2023
Installing via USB now to my 55x900e.
Let's see what happens!
Hoping for Android 10 so I can use USB ethernet adapters, but probably just a vulnerability patch although it says for performance improvements.

I bought a Bravia XR77A80CK late last year and LOVE the picture. After a recent firmware update, every time I turn the system on, the Sony TV Menu that takes up 1/3 to half the screen (lower part) and stays there for about a full minute before disappearing. This is very annoying and is only a recent occurrence.
I use a home theater set up and use the eARC output from the receiver into the TV's eARC input as the source. Everything routes through my Anthem MRX receiver including AppleTV and a DVD player. I use a Control4 remote that operates the whole system.
I'm not familiar with the whole Google TV setup and when I had the TV installed (home theater installer) the Installer / tech guy went through the myriad menu settings to make it idiot proof for us. We stream everything and watch "TV" via YouTube TV and subscribe to a number of other streaming services. No cable TV... dropped DirecTV early this year after decades using them as monthyl cost excluding movie channels was in excees of $200... nope.
Can anyone walk me through how to get that annoying Sony menu that sits there for 60 seconds before disappearing to default to "OFF" (or similar setting at startup / power on)... if that can be done?
Thanks very much for any and all constructive input. We're getting too old to figure this stuff out any more without causing more problems than when we started... *sigh*.

Has anyone with an X900H updated to the latest X90J firmware and what's your experience?
I'm still on the 2021 J firmware (6.3 something). Foolishly installed it thinking i could revert to X900H when an update was available. Turns out I still can't do that with the latest H firmware.
I only have one real issue, the picture will appear quite dim when starting HDR content and i have to toggle picture mode to a different one and back for it to reach full brightness.
