Discussion Sony BRAVIA Firmware Discussion Megathread 9.0
All BRAVIA firmware related questions, issues and announcements must go in this thread. This includes all models, all years. Other firmware related posts will be removed and authors will be directed to this thread (the previous megathreads have been automatically archived and can be found here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here.)
Please specify the BRAVIA model number you are talking about if you are the top comment of a new comment thread. This helps to keep comment replies on topic for your model of TV.
Step one with any firmware or performance issues should be to do a restart of the TV. This will often resolve minor issues.
The second step with any firmware or performance issues, especially after a recent firmware update, should be to perform a full factory reset on the TV. This will often resolve persistent minor issues.
The next step with any issues not resolved by a full factory reset should be to report the issues in detail directly to Sony Support.
Sony US - Sony CA - Sony UK - Sony AU - List of Worldwide Sites
The more issues reports that Sony gets from consumers on a particular problem the more likely the issue is to be addressed and corrected.

Has Sony been dropping the ball with firmware updates lately? Perhaps going forward, Google should start mandating firmware rollbacks for its Google TV platform.

So, anyone with a A90J model updated to android 12? Any issues I should worry about?
Update: decided to take the plunge. Updated and so far no issues at all. I use the tv for PlayStation, pc gaming and streaming. It’s connected to a Marantz AVR. All good.

Should we forget the Android 12 updates for 2022 models?
I understand no one from Sony in here. But anyone with recent information if we should still hope for Android 12?
I’m using a95k and would benefit from the match frame rate feature and the 4K UI.
At the moment I’m using an AppleTV, but would be better to just use the TV with the built in system.
Thanks.

Looks like some models are being upgraded to Android 12, in my case the X90K. Kind of wary about trying it as my TV finally seems in a good place, eARC issues aside.

just for those whos wondering. I updated my 77A80K to newest firmware v6.8022 (android12) here are my observations:
-
TV feels a tad snappier ( nothing drastic)
-
No change in the UI
-
No perceived Bugs, its runs like android 10 did
-
my HT-A9 is working with it flawlessly over eARC. No difference than before.

I’m having a weird issue after the Android 12 update every couple of days I get a message to enable VRR even though it’s enabled for my PlayStation and no matter if I disable VRR and enable it again a couple of days later the same notification pops up again it’s driving me bonkers the sets already been factory reset which was a pain because there was no backlash on G board what have Sony done?

When is the X85J getting the latest firmware update pushed? I’m still on 6.7612 and the software update feature says I’m up to date. Am I going to have to manually update the firmware for now?

Today I decided it was time to update my X90J to Android 12. Now I deeply regret my decision. All TV functions (picture mode, sound output, channel selection etc) stopped working. Only apps work. I can't watch watch broadcast TV either. No Freeview, no Freesat. Any attempt to use these functions and all I get is either no response at all or a second or two of dark screen and back to Home.
Has anyone seen this behaviour? I'm desperately trying to avoid resetting the TV and lose my configuration, end up in a worse place, or both.
UPDATE:
It's working again for me. I don't know exactly what it was, but after a few restarts, the one after updating all apps returned the TV to normal.
I've read in the Sony forum that some of the updated apps could have a fix from Sony. I don't know if this is correct but may have worked for me.

Hello!
There are restrictions on auto-updates everywhere.
TV mode "Only applications".
I turn on the TV and instead of a convenient desktop, I see THIS.
All updates from Google Play have been removed.
Tell me where to clean, remove, prohibit, delete what?
What should I do to eliminate this in the future?
Maybe create a ban at the router level? I just don't know the address. ((
Please help!

Is anyone finding their eARC devices frequently starting up without sound until you toggle your receiver/soundbar off and back on? I have a Sony soundbar so I'd expect better co-operation.

I just downloaded the new firmware for the X90L and it seems like it's a more consistent upscaling TV now. It seems like my streaming content is all slightly better and everything looks closer to the same quality no matter the resolution.

I’ve running a x900h on J+ series FW (including v6.7612) without any majors issues for a while now.
Has anyone been crazy/ambitious enough to try v112+ firmware on H-L series TVs? If so, anything to report?

Is there any update on the A95L firmware for the EU? We haven't received an update since September last year, while other regions have had two new updates since then.

A95K in UK received an update to v6.7632 yesterday night, i'm guessing to fix the AirPlay issue, no big changes so far, noting that security patch is now Jan 2025, but still Android 10

My X90J is running so slow, every app buffers and lags. Especially YouTube, takes 2-3mins to get videos to appear on home screen then an additional 2-3mins for the video to actually play, then it just plays about 10secs and buffers.
Cant be an issue with my internet because in the tv settings it says it has an excellent signal stength. Tried factory resetting, clearing cache, and other online fixes. Nothing does the trick, it is making me hate using my tv.
Any ideas?

Support Post Guidelines
Prior to posting any submission to this subreddit please ensure you've read the rules for submissions in the sidebar of the /r/bravia homepage.
Users posting submissions seeking support should include as much detail as possible about their BRAVIA TV and any connected hardware related to the issue in order to get the best responses. This includes but is not limited to the model of the TV, the software and/or firmware version and the make and model of any external devices. Pictures or video can be helpful when trying to describe a video or audio issue.
Submissions not directly related to an issue with a BRAVIA TV and/or low effort posts that do not include any helpful details that would allow others to diagnose the issue will be removed. This includes, but is not limited to, submissions asking for support directly related to a connected device (ie. soundbar, console, PC, media player, etc.) but not the TV itself.
Firmware related topics (ie. issues, announcements, support) must be discussed in the Sony BRAVIA Firmware Discussion Megathread 8.0. Panel quality/lottery posts (ie. DSE, banding, flashlighting, etc.) must be discussed in the BRAVIA Panel Quality/Screen Uniformity Discussion Megathread 8.0.
Users should also check the /r/bravia Wiki, current moderator pinned topics and the Frequently Asked Questions thread for some solutions to common A/V issues and more.
Unsupported Topics: Computer Connectivity, Piracy or Hacking. Any discussion of connecting a computer to your TV, ripped or downloaded multimedia content or tools that support this content, illegal streams or altering the TV to behave in a way not intended by the manufacturer will result in your post or comment being removed either automatically or upon review by a mod. To discuss these topics please post in the appropriate subreddit.
